We performed a comparison between AWS Database Migration Service and Palantir Foundry based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Cloud Data Integration solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The process is now simplified because there won't be maintenance. Usually we can take a snapshot of the number I need. We can automate the backup snapshots and we can restore it very quickly. We get many benefits from the application."
"We particularly like that this solution has the facility to integrate with all ETL tools."
"It's scalable."
"The tools are very user-friendly."
"The initial setup is very straightforward."
"This solution is very good at mini-batch processing."
"The installation is easy."
"As the solution is on the cloud, we don't have to worry about the maintenance of software."
"Live video sessions enhance the available documentation and allow you to ask questions directly."
"The ease of use is my favorite feature. We're able to build different models and projects or combine different projects to build one use case."
"The solution offers very good end-to-end capabilities."
"Encapsulates all the components without the requirement to integrate or check compatibility."
"The security is also excellent. It's highly granular, so the admins have a high degree of control, and there are many levels of security. That worked well. You won't have an EDC unless you put everything onto the platform because it is its own isolated thing."
"The AI engine that comes with Palantir Foundry is quite interesting."
"Great features available in one tool."
"It is easy to map out a workflow and run trigger-based scripts without having to deploy to another server."
"This solution can offer more tweaks where the latency can be brought down to fifteen seconds."
"Support could be more expedient. Right now I am waiting on support for an extension."
"As a solution, the better thing is if more platforms come with direct compatibility, like connecting to different data sources. The basic problem I faced the most was while transferring and reading data from Excel. So, one time, I found that all the components I had declared in my scripts were able to take it. And after some patching happens, it is not able to support that. Again, we need to update the version of Excel. So, it's not like a plug-in type place where you have done the solution and are confident that it will work. So, this is an area of improvement."
"More endpoints need to be supported by AWS Database Migration Service. There's also a need for more control and transparency on the product, including better technical support."
"Migrating from here and pushing the data from on-premise to AWS cloud is a big challenge and a few more services from AWS would be helpful. For example, we are currently using ILDB internet tools which move data from on-premise to the AWS cloud. A few more services would be really helpful for me to move the master data."
"There are a set of complexities and challenges when a user wants to integrate AWS products with Microsoft products."
"If they had some sort of functionality where, at a specific point in time, if I want to start a new job, it should automatically pick up from where it has been left rather than having people worry about the exact job number and the timing."
"The initial setup can be difficult for beginners in AWS Database Migration Service. You will need the training to complete it."
"Difficult to receive data from external sources."
"There is not a wide user base for the solution's online documentation so it is sometimes difficult to find answers."
"Compared to other hyperscalers, Palantir Foundry is complex and not so user-intuitive."
"It requires a lot of manual work and is very time-consuming to get to a functional point."
"The data lineage was challenging. It's hard to track data from the sources as it moves through stages. Informatica EDC can easily capture and report it because it talks to the metadata. This is generated across those various staging points."
"They do not have a data center in Europe, and we have lots of personally identifiable information in our dataset that needs to be hosted by a third-party data center like Amazon or Microsoft Azure."
"Cost of this solution is quite high."
"The workflow could be improved."
