We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"You have the flexibility to encrypt your backups and choose the storage capacity you're comfortable paying for.""There is only one feature, and that is the backup.""Enables immediate recovery and immediate restoration.""It is a stable solution...It is a highly scalable solution.""This solution allows me to restore either the VM or the data, depending on what is needed.""I like that it's a stable solution and their support is good. I think Microsoft's commercial force is superior.""Setting up Azure Backup is straightforward and the total deployment time was about a month.""The storage backup is very efficient."

"Most important is its ease of use. You plug it in, follow the steps, and you have your backup file.""The performance is good and the interface is user-friendly.""Its interface is intuitive, and it is easy to use when I am restoring files. Barracuda does a really excellent job at compression, which makes it very efficient. Eight years later, I am only halfway through to the capacity, which is very good.""The backup feature is most valuable. That's why we took it.""It is very stable, and I'm very happy with this solution.""Whenever you have a crash or your service is not working, you can just live-boot the machine and have your service up and running.""The main feature we like about Barracuda is that we can map devices directly to the cloud. It operates as a security device to run a backup of the cloud in case one of our physical machines goes down.""The cloud side of it is nice. Everything happens behind the scenes without you realizing it, which is nice. It doesn't interrupt usage. There is also the freedom and ease of use of the cloud portal, which you can use to manage your backup. One of the strong points of Barracuda is that you can go from zero to having your first backup running within 10 minutes. If you have access to admin accounts and everything else, it can happen in 10 minutes. The ability to go in and just restore a particular file without having to do a full restore is also very useful. You can just go in and pick the files that you need to restore, and the same is with email. You can just go in, find an email, and restore that email without having to do a full backup of all the data or a full restore of the data. I feel very safe because it is not just about the backup; it is about the protection of the data from outside threats. They have a lot of areas of ATP, that is, advanced threat protection. You don't see that much on the backup side. You see it more on the email side. In the email protection, you know it is there at the back. It moves the quarantine emails that come through into a sandbox area, and then you can choose in the sandbox. You can open up an email in the sandbox to make sure that if there is a virus, it can't harm you. You can also plan how often your backups run, such as every six hours or four hours. It is the same with email. They also have a great PhishLine package, which is phishing attack training. You can have the strongest and the best backup and security that you can, but the end user is always the weakest link. They send almost like testing emails to end users to help them identify and understand phishing emails and prevent user or phishing attacks. It is a very good package."

Cons
"Azure Backup is limited to certain workloads. It would be helpful if Microsoft focused on enabling backups for Oracle and other unsupported databases.""The time required to restore files should be a little faster.""The user interface is a little bit confusing and it could be better.""I would like to have the option to increase the frequency of the backups. Azure Backup does backups on an hourly basis, but I would prefer it to take backups more often.""The solution’s user interface could be improved.""The tool's backup should be faster. Azure Backup's support should be faster.""Technical support can be slow to respond at times.""Azure Backup could improve by offering better integration for Oracle databases and enhancing features like granular restore and backup compliance capabilities."

More Azure Backup Cons →

"The web interface needs to contain a more up-to-date view of the hardware.""Its speed can be a bit improved, and of course, its pricing can go a lot cheaper.""Some features like CIFS are not supported that would help speed and flexibility.""I would like to see a way to increase space.""I am working in some of the more rural areas of Sweden, and some of the customers here are a little bit wary of cloud technology at the moment. It is not like in Gothenburg or Stockholm, where people rely on it so much more. In the rural areas, companies are saying that we do need to use the cloud, and they are being very wary about their data, especially with GDPR and all that kind of stuff. Having more control and having an option for backing up locally, even if you don't want to use it, would be something very good. The cloud backup is brilliant, but there should be an option to take that cloud backup and save it locally as well. If you lose connection to the internet or you lose access to your data in the cloud, having a backup copy of the latest data on your server is helpful. You need to be able to get access to your customers' files, especially with GDPR, where you need to know where your customers' details are. If they're in the cloud and you've lost access to them, then you'll go into those GDPR regulations. This is somewhere where both Barracuda and Veeam haven't gone as far. As far as I have understood, with Veeam, you can back up your local servers to the cloud but not vice versa. I haven't worked on it much.""When we manage the box physically, we don't have as much control as we do when we manage from the cloud. The best management is from the cloud.""The tool is not user-friendly. The solution should also improve its compatibility. It is also not license-based.""The solution depends on your connectivity, so it is essential to have a proper connection to the cloud."

    Overview

Azure Backup is a scalable backup solution with zero capital investment and minimal operational expenses that can help a company achieve maximal data protection. Azure Backup’s System Center Data Protection Manager provides optional integrations that can enable you to protect both advanced workloads running in your datacenter in VMs as well as those that are on physical servers.

Azure Backup has many features that make it a most effective product. Included among these is its ability to easily scale up your storage capacity. It taps into the cloud to give you the ability to expand on a massive scale. This can be done without any monitoring or maintenance overhead.

    Benefits of Azure Backup

Some of the benefits of using Azure Backup include:

    • The ability to control and track the performance of your network from a single centralized location. Azure Backup has a “single pane of glass” interface that enables users to monitor, operate, govern, and analyze their backups from one place. This eliminates any need to add additional management infrastructure. You can manage different workload types, subscriptions, vaults, and regions with Azure’s Backup Center.

    • A wide array of security features allows you to prevent malicious users from doing damage to the system, receive alerts if an unauthorized action takes place, and recover from any damage that results. Azure Backup has authentication requirements built in to protect vital functions, such as the ability to delete backed up data from unauthorized users. If something that impacts the backed up data takes place, users are immediately notified. Azure Backup saves any and all deleted backup data for two weeks. This enables administrators to use recovery points to recover their lost data.

    Reviews from Real Users

There are a number of characteristics that make Azure Backup extremely effective. Two of these are the flexibility that it offers users and its overall effectiveness.

PeerSpot user Ayman Y., an IT manager at NOMAC, notes all of the different backup options that Azure Backup offers. He writes, “It has many features. First of all, you can schedule a backup for the client as you like. You can do a backup from the whole virtual machine as an image. You can do a backup only from files and folders. It has every option. All options are available for the backup, for the restore, for the bandwidth utilization to do backups, even virtual machines or a physical machine. If you need to do a backup of the whole image from the virtual machine, all these options are there.”

PeerSpot user Muzammil M., a senior operations engineer at the AlGosaibi Group, notes the effectiveness of Azure Backup when he writes, “Azure Backup is good because it is entirelycloud-based, which means that you can be 99.9% sure that your backup is safe. This is the reason that I suggest its use for companies that need to back up critical data.”
