Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The flexibility and the user-experience are the most valuable features of the solution.""We have better reporting and have been able to better track performance.""BOARD technical support is knowledgeable and helpful.""I think it's flexible. I chose this solution because, even though it wasn't out-of-the-box, you can customize it, and the long-term growth potential of the software is where I see the value.""It allows people to quickly create dashboards with reports.""The ability to create a data model and have it in testing within a week is fantastic.""All the reports are prepared automatically.""My favourite feature of BOARD is the ability to write back to the OLAP DB, as well as the Rdb, and secure user data allowing databases to be flushed and rebuilt daily."

"It is a very user-friendly software.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""Financial consolidation and reporting tool with good built-in features such as currency exchange and elimination.""You can bring in data from any source and from multiple sources, and you can consolidate that data in HFM.""The tool is stable.""The most valuable features are around consolidations, eliminations, conversions.""The most valuable feature is the flexibility and ease of configuration in terms of testing and formula creation."

Cons
"It can have more functionality for narrative reporting. They should also improve their training courses, which are currently very lightweight. When you get into more complex things, it is quite difficult to figure out what you're supposed to do, and you have to look at a lot of videos before you actually understand, which is a bit frustrating. Their training can be more comprehensive.""It would be nice to be able to host your site and actually have BOARD be the driver of your site. So you could have anybody in your organization go to www.myorg.com, for example, and then go through what you allow them to go through. So rather than having to go through the application, to be able to go to actually host it to a website.""The product can be improved by making it possible to know where cubes are used.""Sometimes, the data disappears from the product.""It's very powerful, but there is also a big learning curve. It should be a little more intuitive.""I would like to see a better Web client, where the controls work the same way as in the Windows client. I do think that the focus is now on the Web, so it should be improved upon.""The engine of the Board should be made powerful like the engine of IBM planning which is more powerful in terms of performance. The consolidated finance area also needs improvement.""It would be nice to see truly transferable processes from model to model, as well as a method of building repetitive processes."

More Board Cons →

"The complexity is okay. I don't see it as super complex. The solution could have more functionality to make it a little bit more flexible.""If there could be data integration between HFM and the accounting software that would be ideal.""It's a difficult process to try to edit, configure, or change the business rules that exist and work within HFM.""Integration is an area where it lacks and can be improved.""In terms of improvement, one challenge with Oracle HFM is the need for technical knowledge in writing SQL syntax for custom extensions.""The solution has integration challenges. We need a simple tool that is fool-proof for the data that is submitted not only for consolidation purposes but also for performance management and reporting purposes.""The intercompany reporting function in this tool needs improvement, particularly being able to run reports in batches, rather than one at a time."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Find a partner who will take responsibility for the implementation, and be available for support."
  • "In terms of the pricing, it was reasonable. BOARD is not the lowest in the market, but it was reasonable for us."
  • "It is not the cheapest product on earth, but you get so much. It provides good value for money."
  • "The solution is quite expensive, if it is made cheaper then we can have more clients. I rate it four out of ten."

  • "Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) uses the named user licensing model. There's different pricing depending on HFM and Essbase planning."
