We performed a comparison between Cisco SD-WAN and Huawei Enterprise Routers based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two WAN Edge solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."When we have had power outages for a few hours we have had no issue with Cisco SD-WAN coming back online and functioning."
"Initial setup is easy."
"It is very simple to deploy. It's a point-and-click type of deployment, so it's fairly simple."
"The solution sufficiently provides ISPs."
"I have found the performance and the Zero-Touch provisioning helpful which makes it easier for us to develop."
"You can easily scale the product."
"Customizing SD-WAN is very easy because you can define two colors. You can define two different operators. You can deploy a partial mesh, a full mesh, or hub-and-spoke totally differently. If you want to do this on a DMVPN solution, that's really hard."
"The centralized management is the most important feature. We can monitor what is going on at every location in our network with just one center."
"The setup is simple."
"The configuration syntax makes it easy for us to configure the device and perform troubleshooting when needed."
"There is a lot of information available about routers and how to configure Huawei Routers right now."
"We use the solution for point-to-point connectivity, aggregation, and radio connectivity on mTLS."
"The initial setup is easy."
"When we started, the connection was amazing for the 100G between the switches and the co-switch. What the students typically use for school is a maximum is 40 so they now have faster technology."
"This product uses a non-proprietary command line, which makes it compatible across many different systems."
"The scalability is good."
"We had some issues with Cisco SD-WAN but somehow we troubleshot it and things are going well. The issues have not been a large problem."
"The solution could have a better web interface to simplify changing configurations."
"One area for improvement in Cisco SD-WAN is reporting. The report needs to give more visibility to the customer. The security feature in Cisco SD-WAN also needs improvement, particularly if Cisco wants to challenge other brands, such as Fortinet."
"All of the configurations are based on templates, and we need to spend a lot of time doing the templates. It's good because that means that all of the configurations will be equal in the network. However, we need to spend a lot of time implementing the templates and doing the customizations."
"The initial setup is really complex."
"The bandwidth limitations would be good to remove, but it is a policy and license situation for Cisco because the cost is very high. It would be good to have OTP implemented with VRF. It can have support for EIGRP Over the Top (OTP) VRF. I saw some limitations in regards to the VRF protocol and the advertisement between VRF configuration. EIGRP Over the Top basically was quite limited with the VRF configuration. If you wanted to do rollback in VRF by using the EIGRP OTP protocol, the formation was not populated across. Cisco got back and confirmed that it is a configuration that I need to wait for until the next release, which is going to happen in one year. Cisco documentation is not the way it used to be before. It just gives an easy way to configure, but it doesn't go into the details of the configuration. The information that you need is there, but sometimes you want to go further and get more information, but the information is quite limited. It would be good to cover a few business cases or configuration cases. They used to be there in the past."
"The solution is expensive and could be cheaper."
"Better pricing and greater security would be nice to see."
"The product's pricing could be better."
"In my country we don't have Huawei technology, we only have Huawei routers for ISP. There is no agent for Huawei in Egypt."
"It would be better if the vendor provided support for small enterprises."
"The solution's technical support could be improved."
"We have encountered issues while integrating the product with Enterprise Management Systems. Huawei platform is good for Huawei but we face issues when we integrate it with other models."
"Essentially, they need to open their licensing model such that when a customer buys a device, they have a full view of all of the available licenses for it."
"There isn't really any scalability potential."
"In the next release of this solution, I would like to see better bandwidth management, more granular web filtering, and portal authentication."
