We performed a comparison between Cisco UCS Manager and PagerDuty Operations Cloud based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Zabbix, Datadog, Auvik and others in IT Infrastructure Monitoring."Cisco Infrastructure is one of the top vendors and no one can beat them in terms of switching and routing."
"I can deploy something in my 50-odd servers all in one go, in parallel, whereas if I was to do that individually, it could be a nightmare."
"Ease of management is certainly the most valuable feature in this product."
"The management is one of the most valuable features of this solution."
"Cisco UCS has different layers of security, and you can do multiple installations of your LIAMs on top of the server and Blade. You can install VMware, Windows Server, Hyper-V, etc."
"We can configure the Cisco UCS Manager, the profiles and interactions with the resource we manage."
"The reporting functionality will give you any report you want."
"Cisco UCS Manager is overall a good package because it gives a GUI interface and a CLI."
"The product easily integrates with other solutions."
"Notification is the most valuable feature."
"A cool feature is that it helps us to understand the flow of the alert. If the alert was coming to the current on-call and he didn't catch the call or didn't notice it for any reason, it starts being escalated automatically, according to the escalation schedule, or to other teammates. You can see the flow very easily on your phone or via the website, if you want to do a post-mortem."
"The SMS pages and the mobile application are pretty much the top two features."
"PagerDuty is very stable and very reliable."
"The alerts are immediate in this solution, which allows us to respond to errors quickly."
"Alert deduplication and noise reduction for alerts are the major features that I found useful."
"The most valuable feature is definitely the flexibility of the schedule. The mobile app is quite also good for what we do: for receiving alerts, acknowledging, assigning, adding new responders. It has rich features for our needs."
"The installation and upgrade sytems need to be improved."
"Cisco UCS is expensive compared to others. The Cisco UCS Chassis is more expensive than a standalone server, but some companies require standalone servers because of their production load and affordability. You need to pay more if you require more features on the Blade or if you need more ports on the switch."
"There is room for improvement in the software part of Cisco UCS Manager. It should be more user-friendly, especially when creating policies."
"Getting a CLI report on routers, switches, or any other CLI configuration device is difficult."
"The integration with other solutions could be better. I think Cisco can only integrate using Intersight. There is a second interface available as a SaaS platform, in the cloud, or on-premise. It's based on the Redfish protocol, which is standard for all the B-series servers in the market. We can integrate other solutions using API."
"We have three data centers and if we could manage all three data centers using one interface, it would be great."
"I would like to see Cisco UCS optionally work as a hyper-converged system because right now, it only operates as a converged system."
"The pricing can be better."
"PagerDuty's webhooks need some improvement."
"I am not a direct end user of PagerDuty. It's hard to consider its shortcomings in that sense."
"PagerDuty should be integrated with other tools, so it can import the IT roster automatically. Our other rules continue to work once they're configured, but the roster must be added manually."
"PagerDuty can improve the integration with Terraform."
"There is room for improvement with the time schedule. The way the schedule currently works is you assign all the team members in one schedule and it automatically spreads them around throughout the schedule... It would be better to be able to edit the schedule and place my team members where I want, or at least to have that option in addition to the automatic process."
"It cannot be integrated with our upgraded Jira system."
"Because of the way you have to structure the rosters, if an engineer has to go on leave (or something), you can't just go in and reassign/take this person out of all of the different rosters that they're in. You have to go into each of the rosters and take them out. There might be a roster for business hours, after hours rotation, and monitoring deployments. Each time we need to take an engineer out of the pool, e.g., if they're sick or on leave, then we have to go and touch all of those rosters, updating and replacing them. Whereas, if we could just take the person out and have it automatically fill in the rostering, then that would make life a lot easier for managing it."
"It’s quite hard to reach the support team."
