Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The best feature is threat hunting. There are a lot of other features I like, such as the alert mechanism. The chain alert mechanism has a huge impact. It combines all the alerts into one incident and automatically correlates them with AI.""Advanced hunting is good. I like that. We can drill down to lots of details.""It has great stability.""The threat intelligence is excellent.""I like Defender XDR's automation capabilities. XDR isn't automated by default, but you can automate it to respond. If an attack is performed anywhere within the organization, you can isolate that instance from the network. This is what I can figure out for it. When integrated with Sentinel, you can set up playbooks to automate all the alerts gathered on Sentinel from different Microsoft solutions. Sentinel has a wider range of capabilities than XDR.""Within advanced threat hunting, the tables that have already been defined by Microsoft are helpful. In the advanced threat hunting tab, there were different tables, and one of the tables was related to device info, device alert, and device events. That was very helpful. Another feature that I liked but didn't have access to was deep analysis.""The 'Incidents and Alerts' tab is a valuable feature where we can find triggered alerts.""I like 365 Defender's advanced threat hunting. The dashboard is user-friendly with templates for site policies, etc. The most important use case is evaluating the risk links and applications."

"CrowdStrike displays a threat score when it detects an infection. This is helpful because not all detections are the same. It will classify them as ransomware, malware, phishing, etc. This feature helps us prioritize and cross-check with other EDR tools.""We have a small IT Team, and this allows us to get sleep at night, knowing that someone else is taking care of any incidents that occur.""The most useful feature is that we do not need to install or keep signature files. Regular scanning that consumes a lot of computer resources is not needed.""The most valuable feature is the machine learning that they use to check certain patterns in the endpoint devices. It checks the whole ecosystem or entire environment.""The detection is very reliable. Also, OverWatch is a great feature.""Since we deployed CrowdStrike, the network has become much calmer, and we now understand the sources of infections, which helps us prevent them from spreading.""The DLP is the most valuable feature of CrowdStrike Falcon.""The most valuable features in CrowdStrike Falcon are the full EDR with antivirus, hunting, reporting, and RTR remote control."

"I like the dynamic groups feature. They give the ability to filter endpoint machines by any parameter, software, or hardware inventory, and that's a significant advantage when you need to, for example, automate a secondary firewall profile for endpoints outside your network. Or if you want to automatically isolate the computer from the rest of the network if the ransomware is found.""The product enabled Zero-Day Protection for our environment. We never encountered any issues regarding threats.""ESET PROTECT Enterprise is reliable.""ESET is better in some ways than other vendors because it fulfills many areas where we'd otherwise have to use different products.""The most valuable feature of ESET Protect is the security while accessing any transaction, such as online banking systems. When I access a banking website a new browser opens which is more secure, which I find very useful.""The solution offers a lot of configuration capabilities.""We can easily manage resources, disable or enable clients and update them.""The most valuable features of ESET File Security are the performance and it doesn't take too many resources."

Cons
"The cost can be high if you want to build custom license packages. Another area for improvement is the policies. In Azure, we need to implement policies in JSON format, but in 365 Defender 365, it would be helpful to use a different format so we can customize the platform.""Microsoft Defender XDR is not a full-fledged EDR or XDR.""When discussing the secure score, which includes overviews and recommended actions, some of these recommended actions are not applicable to us, particularly those related to Microsoft Internet Explorer, which we do not use in any of our environments.""The mobile app support for Android and iOS is difficult and needs improvement.""Microsoft 365 Defender does not have a unique package with emerging endpoint security technologies, such as EDR and XDR.""The abundance of sub-dashboards and sub-areas within the main dashboard can be confusing, even if it all technically makes sense.""Since all of our databases are updated and located in the cloud, I would like additional support for this.""The solution could improve by having better machine learning and AI. Additionally, the interface, documentation, and integration could be better."

More Microsoft Defender XDR Cons →

"As the company has grown, the technical support has felt less personal.""We can do a threat analysis of any machine at any time, but that threat analysis is very limited.""Falcon could be improved with more function on the mobile end of things and better optimization with mobile devices.""Basically, they don't cover legacy OS or applications. That's the only issue we're concerned about""The portal can be clunky to navigate at times and has room for improvement.""The content-filtering features for children could be improved. We have young grandchildren aged 12 and 8. My daughter, their mother, wants to keep them from getting in trouble on the net. She looked at all these other solutions from Google, Microsoft, etc., and she couldn't figure out how to make any of those work. I told her that I bet CrowdStrike could handle this. Sure enough, CrowdStrike can do exactly that. It's the same solution that the Defense Department gets. It works, but it's a little complicated to implement. It could be simpler to set the policies.""CrowdStrike Falcon by itself does not supply in-depth reporting.""To simplify the budgeting process for our clients, CrowdStrike should consider offering bundled packages that include essential features."

More CrowdStrike Falcon Cons →

"The availability and sustainability could also be improved.""In the current version of ESET File Security, you cannot download a file, it always wants the real-time upload which you have to wait until the file is ready. This is annoying. In previous versions, you were able to use the downloaded engine.""The tool is complex and expensive.""ESET Protect could improve the performance. The performance of the home computers and laptops becomes slow due to their heavy software load. It would be a benefit to make a lighter version of the software which does not have any impact on the performance of the computer's hardware.""The solution can be quite technical and therefore is challenging for new users.""Sometimes, the connection to the machine requires troubleshooting.""I would like to see more features on the reporting side of things.""I would like to see more in managing mobile devices in an on-premise solution. The latest news I've heard is that ESET drops mobile management module development for the on-prem version. It's moving to the cloud. Like in endpoint client protection, I would also like to see more of the vulnerability management features and additional app control functionality in ESET Protect."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solutions price is fair for what they offer."
  • "The price could be better. Normally, the costs depend on the country you're located in for the license. When we were in the initial stage, we went with the E5 license they call premium standard. It cost us around $5.20 per month for four users."
  • "The price of the solution is high compared to others and we have lost some customers because of it."
  • "Microsoft is not competitive with the pricing of the solution. The competitors are able to offer lower discounts. The price of the solution is higher."
  • "We have a lot of problems in Latin America regarding the price of Microsoft 365 Defender, because the relationship between dollars and the money of the different countries, it's is a lot. Many customers that have small businesses say that they would like the solution but it is too expensive. However, large companies do not find the cost an issue."
  • "The most valuable licensing option is expensive, so pricing could be improved. Licensing options for this solution also need to be consolidated, because they frequently change."
  • "Microsoft should provide lower-level licensing options. They should do it in such a way that even an individual could purchase a license, and it should be entirely flexible."
  • "They have moved from a licensing model to pay-per-use... The question is: What happens if, for any reason, there's not enough budget to accept this model? That could be a great problem."

  • "The pricing will depend upon your volume of usage."
  • "I would like them to further reduce the price, because it is quite pricey at the moment."
  • "Purchasing the product through the AWS Marketplace is just a click away. Since we were using the on-premise version of the product, we continued on the cloud by purchasing it through the AWS Marketplace."
  • "I do not have experience with the cost or licensing of the product."
  • "The other administrator and I can log in to check the exact details of what happened, what was running, and what caused the detection. We know exactly what was happening on the end users PC and we can tell if it's something that we actually need or something that's malicious."
  • "We are at about $60,000 per year."
  • "This solution has a very competitive price."
  • "Our company pays approximately US$ 65,000 annually for 900 machines."
