We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of all is the full integration with the rest of the software in the operating system and Office 365, as well as Microsoft SCCM. It is quite easy for us to work with the whole instance of Microsoft products. This integration improves the benefits of the whole suite of products.""The integration with other Microsoft solutions is the most valuable feature.""I like how Microsoft XDR and the other Microsoft products are integrated into a single unified security stack covering identity access management, endpoint protection, email, cloud applications, etc.""There is also one dashboard that shows us the status of many controls at once and the details I can get... It gives a great overview of many areas, such as files, emails, chats, and links. Even with the apps, it gives you a great overview. In one place you can see where you should look into things more deeply...""We also use Microsoft Sentinel, Defender for Cloud, Defender for Identity, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps. They are all integrated and it was very easy to integrate them. In my experience with the integrations, it was just a click of a button and things were integrated. It's just a button.""It gives a lot of flexibility in terms of configuration and customization as per the business requirements.""Microsoft 365 Defender is a stable solution.""Advanced hunting is good. I like that. We can drill down to lots of details."

"The level of automation is very good because the majority of the time, it blocks the attacks without requiring anything from our side. The technicians don't have to do anything. They are just alerted about what happened. So, the user intelligence works quite well.""Cynet is light and transparent when downloaded. The product's data aggregation is also valuable since you can see everything you need on a page.""Cynet is unique in that it has almost everything included and it was built up from the ground, instead of a bundle of purchased and composed modules. It gives you easier very good visibility than Sentinel One as well as a lower maintenance burden.""It is a very stable solution...It is a very scalable solution...The initial setup of Cynet was easy.""It can be deployed in autonomous mode, and then it automatically blocks malware threats.""I like the Cynet Correlator™ feature.""The dashboard is beautiful, overall easy of use, and the UBA and NBA features are valued.""I like that you can implement it in the managed service portfolio."

"The incident case management is the most valuable feature. Even though there's always something I find I would like to add to that feature, the ability to quickly sort through all the logs, network and endpoint data, etc., and add it to an incident case as part of the investigation, is nice. Having it automatically timeline that additional data into the original incident timeline, and correlate it to other notable events and activities on the network, results in a huge improvement in our overall confidence that we've quickly traced down the right source of an issue.""Another very important part of insightIDR is the ability to collect data from endpoint devices via agent software. With a large remote workforce, this allows visibility into the endpoints that are connected to the internet, but not to the corporate network.""Dashboards, including the main screen, provide much-needed information at a glance, without hours of coding and sifting through logs to find it. In case of an actual security incident, I have faith that insightIDR has retained all logs in a secure manner that prevents log tampering as well.""Great coverage of all systems within our network from endpoint to firewall.""Log search allows us to dive deep into aggregated logs and query all event types at once.""The solution is very scalable in terms of the licensing model.""I rate Rapid7 nine out of 10 for affordability""Intelligent alerting to avoid the common problem of alert fatigue associated with traditional SIEMs."

Cons
"It would be highly beneficial if CoPilot could identify anomalies within the network and notify the IT team.""Support is hit or miss. Microsoft wants you to buy premium support contracts. Though they call themselves professional support, it's almost like throwing questions into a black hole. You get an answer, but it's never helpful.""I personally have not seen much evidence of how Defender can enhance the story of zero trust for enterprises.""The onboarding and offboarding need improvement. I work with other vendors as well, and they have an option to add a device or remove a device from the portal, whereas with Microsoft 365 Defender, we need to do that manually. However, once you do that, everything can be controlled through the portal, but getting the device onboarded and offboarded is currently manual. If we have an option to simply remove a device from the portal or get a device added from the portal, it would be more convenient. The rest of the features are similar. This is the only area where I found it different from others. I would also like to be able to simply filter with a few of the queries that are already there.""There are other SIEM solutions that are easier to use, mainly based on the creation of rules, use cases, and groups.""The mobile app support for Android and iOS is difficult and needs improvement.""Stability could be improved by avoiding frequent changes to the interface.""The abundance of sub-dashboards and sub-areas within the main dashboard can be confusing, even if it all technically makes sense."

More Microsoft Defender XDR Cons →

"Compliance reports need to improve.""Linux servers are not supported.""It is an endpoint agent, but they don't have a probe for checking the network traffic. They could improve from this point of view.""In future releases, I would like to see cloud security aspects included.""We'd like something that makes it easier to manage specific points.""I cannot provide more details about Cynet's automation features. While Cynet claims to be automated, the specifics of this automation are unclear. They claim to have a high capability to detect and block attacks, but I am cautious about companies that claim to solve every problem without limitations. It does help in identifying malware on the network but doesn't specifically identify vulnerabilities.""There are some shortcomings in Cynet's integration capabilities that need improvement.""One thing to note is that I highly recommend adding a deep learning-based prevention environment as an additional layer to Cynet. However, I always advise my customers to start with Cynet or XDR, for example, and then focus on the people, technology, and processes involved. This is the best approach to ensure that you are not breached with ransomware. While Cynet can prevent most attacks, there have been cases where ransomware has been quicker than Cynet's detection capabilities. In these situations, an additional tool is necessary to ensure complete protection, and that is what I sell as well."

More Cynet Cons →

"Currently, it lacks the functionalities provided by Rapid7's User Behavior Analytics (UBA).""Rapid7 doesn't integrate well with all our security tools from various vendors, so we plan to switch. Many of our solutions work with Rapid7, but some do not. We are already searching for a replacement already.""The main problem lies in the processes within the client's operating systems.""Lacks a mobile application.""The searching feature in Rapid7 InsightIDR needs to evolve""The product allows us to make only 30 custom rules.""One of the things that could be better is digital forensics. It is there, but it can be better. They could provide more on the endpoint detection level.""The ability to tune the collector for custom logs would greatly help."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solutions price is fair for what they offer."
  • "The price could be better. Normally, the costs depend on the country you're located in for the license. When we were in the initial stage, we went with the E5 license they call premium standard. It cost us around $5.20 per month for four users."
  • "The price of the solution is high compared to others and we have lost some customers because of it."
  • "Microsoft is not competitive with the pricing of the solution. The competitors are able to offer lower discounts. The price of the solution is higher."
  • "We have a lot of problems in Latin America regarding the price of Microsoft 365 Defender, because the relationship between dollars and the money of the different countries, it's is a lot. Many customers that have small businesses say that they would like the solution but it is too expensive. However, large companies do not find the cost an issue."
  • "The most valuable licensing option is expensive, so pricing could be improved. Licensing options for this solution also need to be consolidated, because they frequently change."
  • "Microsoft should provide lower-level licensing options. They should do it in such a way that even an individual could purchase a license, and it should be entirely flexible."
  • "They have moved from a licensing model to pay-per-use... The question is: What happens if, for any reason, there's not enough budget to accept this model? That could be a great problem."

  • "It gives you a high level of protection at a very good price."
  • "Everything is included in this one solution and the pricing is pretty competitive."
  • "Our billing is on a quarterly basis, but they have monthly or annual billing availability."
  • "The price should not be less than $100 which is quite reasonable for this solution because you are getting multiple components."
  • "Its licensing is on a monthly basis."
  • "Pricing wise, Cynet seems to be very competitive. The cost is probably lower than that offered by many of its competitors for all the functions and features it offers."
  • "The pricing was good."
  • "It costs us 20,000 to 28,000 per year."
  • More Cynet Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I am sure that there are cheaper products out there, but none that meet so many of our needs whilst maintaining stability and usability."
  • "The team is very willing to work with companies. My suggestion is to call the Rapid7 sales department and see how they can help."
  • "Licensing is straightforward. If, for some reason, you don’t meet the minimum licensing requirements, there is a third-party managed service that can help."
  • "Accurately predict your licensing counts as this is a subscription based product."
  • "The pricing and licensing are competitive."
  • "Licensing is by endpoint and amount of retention time (at least ours is). Default retention was one year, but we are able to push the retention further if needed. There's also a provide-your-own-S3 option for longer retention if you don't want to pay for the additional retention years in your Rapid7 agreement."
  • "It is a reasonably priced solution."
  • "It is on a yearly basis. For our own company, for about 250 users, it was 16,000 euros a year."

    Reviews from Real Users

“I have found the continued support and pretty much all the features to be valuable. They all stand out as being positive. It continues to detect unusual activity when it's supposed to, and so far we haven't had any issues.” - Ken S., Director InfoSec and Audit at a manufacturing company

"The feature that I have found most valuable is that the configuration and the usage of the product are not so complicated. For people responsible for using this infrastructure for the first line of workstation monitoring, it's quite easy to use." - Senior Cyber Security Manager at a financial services firm

"The dashboard is beautiful, overall ease of use, and the UBA and NBA features are valued." - Harsh P., Cyber Security Operations Center Analyst at Vincacyber
