We performed a comparison between Databricks and QlikView based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Databricks, Microsoft, Alteryx and others in Data Science Platforms."I like that Databricks is a unified platform that lets you do streaming and batch processing in the same place. You can do analytics, too. They have added something called Databricks SQL Analytics, allowing users to connect to the data lake to perform analytics. Databricks also will enable you to share your data securely. It integrates with your reporting system as well."
"Databricks is hosted on the cloud. It is very easy to collaborate with other team members who are working on it. It is production-ready code, and scheduling the jobs is easy."
"The setup is quite easy."
"It's easy to increase performance as required."
"The ability to stream data and the windowing feature are valuable."
"The solution is very simple and stable."
"Databricks gives you the flexibility of using several programming languages independently or in combination to build models."
"I work in the data science field and I found Databricks to be very useful."
"Associative model - no more cubes."
"QlikView is a scalable solution that multiple users can easily use."
"Our Qlikview applications help us to get a good idea of our Client Base Performance and assist us in the decision making for Seasonal Specials. On the other hand QlikView helps us to get a grasp on our Suppliers and helps us to negotiate pricing with them."
"The most valuable aspect is its extensive library on Microsoft, providing a robust framework for implementation."
"The initial setup is not very complex."
"QlikView is one of the strongest tools, I would say. Also, it has a very vast capability to process the data"
"The product’s most valuable feature is its ability to view the entire data available for analysis."
"Scripting as per a customer's need, which is a pretty cool feature and not available in other tools."
"I'm not the guy that I'm working with Databricks on a daily basis. I'm on the management team. However, my team tells me there are limitations with streaming events. The connectors work with a small set of platforms. For example, we can work with Kafka, but if we want to move to an event-driven solution from AWS, we cannot do it. We cannot connect to all the streaming analytics platforms, so we are limited in choosing the best one."
"The solution could be improved by integrating it with data packets. Right now, the load tables provide a function, like team collaboration. Still, it's unclear as to if there's a function to create different branches and/or more branches. Our team had used data packets before, however, I feel it's difficult to integrate the current with the previous data packets."
"The integration of data could be a bit better."
"Databricks has added some alerts and query functionality into their SQL persona, but the whole SQL persona, which is like a role, needs a lot of development. The alerts are not very flexible, and the query interface itself is not as polished as the notebook interface that is used through the data science and machine learning persona. It is clunky at present."
"I believe that this product could be improved by becoming more user-friendly."
"The integration features could be more interesting, more involved."
"Costs can quickly add up if you don't plan for it."
"I would like to see more documentation in terms of how an end-user could use it, and users like me can easily try it and implement use cases."
"The user interface is old."
"It is really old. We are moving towards converting everything into a Power BI environment. We want to have a self-service type of BI environment where different levels of users in organizations can log onto a portal and retrieve the data they need or get the necessary insights for decision-making that's important for them or their business unit. They have built a new version of QlikView called QlikSense, which probably competes with newer BI tools, such as Power BI, but they are far behind. That's why we are moving towards a newer tool that's easier to use and has more visualizations to represent the data."
"The user interface and ease of use takes a bit of a learning curve to pick up."
"There could be a feature to analyze the sales and accounting data of the client."
"They could improve the speed."
"It would be nice if QlikView could be plugged in into the company's website or an online portal such as QlikSense is capable of. There are ways around but it takes enormous time to develop."
"This solution would be improved with the inclusion of a feature that would allow us to add a common library of (our) commands used in load scripts and expressions, so with a keyword, we would get a drop down to select the command we are looking for, as opposed to the generic help."
"I would want them to have more options as a user. It would be nice for them to create their own dashboards and add fields."
