We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product's core feature of virtualizing our storage is by far the most valuable.""I've had to open a few support cases over the years due to administrator errors, and the support received was top-notch.""StarWind Virtual SAN is a very easy-to-use solution that can be quickly and easily deployed and configured without intimate and specific knowledge in the virtualization sphere.""Having the ability to migrate machines live in our environment was made possible by this software.""The solution offers easy one-click PowerShell scripts that are ready to run.""The fact that I can now count on a true failover solution is what is most appealing.""The management was very easy and I was able to find all that I need in the software dashboard.""StarWind Virtual SAN can improve an organization's storage infrastructure by providing high availability, scalability, cost-effectiveness, performance, and ease of use."

"It is easy to use for management and operations teams because the tools are in one place.""The catalog of APIs for automation has been most valuable, although they are quite limited.""The solution is quite stable.""The most valuable feature of this solution is integration.""Perfectly suits customers dealing with the combination of future storage needs and, at the same time, keeping up their computing power.""Dell PowerFlex is a one-stop-shop solution. Storage, compute, network, application monitoring, and support cases are all combined into one solution. It's very easy to administer compared to when you have a reference architecture where you need to design and build everything yourself. You would also then have to work with multiple vendors.""We're doing a lot of VMware for IT so this solution is really valuable from a VMH point of view. We're trying to assist our customers mainly with management, because that's what they want. The most important aspects are ease of management, as well as ease of configuration, allowing them to attach additional nodes and resources for the applications.""The solution is scalable."

"It is easy to install.""The most valuable feature is the set of user tools that are available.""The most valuable feature of Dell vSAN Ready Nodes is the flexibility of the nodes. Additionally, if there are any critical issues they update us through emails. The issues are taken care of remotely on the system.""I have found the most important features of Dell EMC vSAN Ready Nodes are the capacity to manage the storage because the storage is built in the servers. The type of profiles you can attribute to the storage is a benefit. You can manage the storage by profiles. Overall the solution is a good speed and performance.""Dell EMC vSAN Ready Nodes is scalable""We find the initial implementation process simple and straightforward.""The most valuable feature of Dell vSAN Ready Nodes is file sharing.""The product is useful for DR and other things."

Cons
"StarWind Command Center's single-pane management solution only works with Hyper-V.""I would say that the documentation is mostly great, however, some features could be expanded upon a bit.""They need to invest more in the support documents for real issues happening when integrating the solution with the hypervisor.""I see no need for major improvements but there could be some improvements in the form of notifications and the simplifying of maintenance mode.""The logs can also become very noisy when there is an issue, which is very infrequent.""An extended trial period would serve as a way to get clean insights into the technology's adaptability and alignment with their specific needs before committing to long-term integration.""The initial setup got a little confusing at a few points with differences between the VMware version in documentation vs the latest, etc.""This product could be improved with the inclusion of new health check procedures."

More StarWind Virtual SAN Cons →

"There should be more functionality available for routing.""We've had some issues around the licensing.""They should provide continuous support for data migration.""I would like to see a more user-friendly interface.""We're also running Hyper-V virtual machines. But we recently discovered that migration of the Hyper-V virtual machines is a bit challenging. Maybe if Dell EMC can come out with a tool that will make it very easy for us to migrate the Microsoft Hyper-V machine, that may be an improvement.""The solution must be more flexible.""Including instrumentation would be a helpful improvement.""The installation is complex."

More Dell PowerFlex Cons →

"Compatibility with other hardware nodes needs to be improved.""Dell vSAN Ready Nodes' deployment is complex.""The deployment is done by doing it one by one and could be simplified.""This product is not sufficiently scalable.""Dell EMC vSAN Ready Nodes is a great hyper-converged system that is a perfect platform for supporting any kind of workload. The only workload that it's not designed to support is big data.""The solution doesn't scale.""Scalability is an area that could be improved. We are looking at a maximum of 32 nodes now in a cluster, but going to 64 or 128 would be a major advantage.""The solution should provide daily task alerts for data recovery maintenance, usage, and other instructions to ensure the systems are in a good status."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The setup cost is very low. The pricing is great."
  • "We are happy with the price."
  • "The license is reusable. We can always rebuild it and apply the license. Then, boom, we get new servers, apply the license, and we're back up and running."
  • "The pricing is fine for the work that it does."
  • "When we did all the analysis for StarWind, it was approximately 20 percent less than any of the other solutions that we looked at."
  • "The scalability limitation for us is its licensing. At some point in the fairly near future, we will probably have to upgrade our license so we can store eight terabytes instead of four. We are currently at four terabytes, but we're starting to knock on the door of that capacity."
  • "The pricing is excellent. It will run on anything. You don't have to buy a $100,000 server, with hardware you don't need. You just pay for the license and you're good to go."
  • "The licensing is a bit weird. If you license the standard version of StarWind, it allows you four terabytes. Then, they have a pro version, but with the pro version, the only difference is it doubles the terabytes to eight."
