We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I am impressed with the product's output scaling.""I am satisfied with the stability offered by the solution.""Before using this solution, it was a lot of manual tasks and a lot of people participated in the process.""The solution is more user-friendly than AWS or Azure. I can also easily scale out the service in the future when the number of customers grows. GKE is the leader of Kubernetes service and it can be easily updated. I love the tool's user interfaces.""The solution simplified deployment, making it more automated. Previously, Docker required manual configuration, often done by developers on their computers. However, with Google Kubernetes Engine, automation extends to configuration, deployment, scalability, and viability, primarily originating from Docker rather than Kubernetes. Its most valuable feature is the ease of configuration.""The product has no downtime.""It is easy to use and deploy.""The logs are important for detecting problems in our clusters."

"The product is simple to use for a beginner.""The most valuable feature is its comprehensive support, easy resource scaling, compatibility with various OEMs, and seamless service integration.""This solution is not vendor-locked, which means that we we are able to use it across all of our resources; this feature is of great value to us.""The solution is stable.""The solution has a lot of good features, such as you can access the console and edit through the GUI. The dashboard and the UI are designed well, user-friendly, and easy to manage, and access.""The scalability potential is very good.""The initial setup is simple and straightforward.""The tool's UI is very convenient enough to help you manage multiple clusters in the cloud or the company, making it a product with which you can manage different clusters and locations."

Cons
"Our critique is that we have to do too much work to get the cluster production-ready.""While the GKE cluster is secure, application-level security is an essential aspect that needs to be addressed. The security provided by GKE includes the security of communication between nodes within the cluster and the basic features of Kubernetes security. However, these features may not be sufficient for the security needs of an enterprise. Additional security measures must be added to ensure adequate protection. It has become a common practice to deploy security tools within a Kubernetes cluster. It would be ideal if these tools were included as part of the package, as this is a standard requirement in the industry. Thus, application-level security should be integrated into GKE for improved security measures.""I would like the solution to integrate with another Kubernetes product. I would also like it to monitor other platforms. It needs to also include scale-up container in the tool's next release.""We would like to see some improvement in the ease of integration with this solution.""The monitoring part requires some serious improvements in Google Kubernetes Engine, as it does not have very good monitoring consoles.""The tool's configuration features need improvement.""There is room for improvement in the cluster updates process. Specifically, when managing both non-production and production clusters, we need a sequential functionality.""The product's stability is an area of concern where improvements are required."

"I can't migrate to the newer version.""If you have poor infrastructure, you will have issues with the tool.""There needs to be an improvement in observability and microservice monitoring tools in Rancher Labs.""We'd like their monitoring tool to be integrated by default.""While Rancher Labs provides some level of security, it's not considered very robust.""One area for improvement in Rancher Labs is the development aspect.""We're looking for something that is even easier to use. It's a bit complicated.""They should improve application visibility along with code visibility."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We are planning to use external support, and hire a commercial partner for it."
  • "This is an open source solution, so there is no pricing or licensing."
  • "Currently, it costs around $1000 per month which sorted our deployment. So once we get more clients, having a huge suffix, costs can go up."
  • "I would rate Kubernetes' pricing four out of five."
  • "The price for Google Kubernetes Engine could be lower - I'd rate its pricing at three out of five."
  • "It is competitive, and it is not expensive. It is almost competitive with AWS and the rest of the cloud solutions. We are spending around 3K USD per month. There are four projects that are currently running, and each one is incurring a cost of around 3K USD."
  • "The pricing for GKE is dependent on the type of machine or virtual machine (VM) that is selected for the nodes in the cluster. There is a degree of flexibility in choosing the specifications of the machine, such as the number of CPUs, GPUs, and so on. Google provides a variety of options, allowing the user to create the desired cluster composition. However, the cost can be quite steep when it comes to regional clusters, which are necessary for high availability and failover. This redundancy is crucial for businesses and is required to handle an increase in requests in case of any issues in one region, such as jumping to a different region in case of a failure in the Toronto region. While it may be tempting to choose the cheapest type of machines, this may result in a limited capacity and user numbers, requiring over-provisioning to handle additional requests, such as those for a web application."
  • "Its pricing is good. They bill us only per user. That's nice."

  • "There is an annual subscription. The price of the solution should be cheaper and have better pricing flexibility."
  • "The solution is free and open source but there is a fee for support."
  • "This is an open-source solution, so there are no licensing costs involved."
  • "Although Rancher Labs is an open-source solution, they also offer a paid version, where you buy the support when needed."
  • "The pricing of the solution sits in the mid range, not high and not low. It has a fixed price that you pay every month."
  • "There are no hidden charges attached to the product unless a user opts for the premium support offered by the solution."
  • "The cost is reasonable since it's open source. Rancher effectively addresses container orchestration trends, especially for those with some Kubernetes knowledge."
