"The performance monitoring feature is useful as it can report in 15 minute intervals by hour, day, week, month, or by a custom date range.""We are a 100% satisfied with the stability of the solution.""IBM FlashSystem is a flexible solution with plenty of features.""The most valuable features are, of course, the virtualization of the storage, the performance, and the compression.""It's a mature product. It's like a BMW that evolves consistently.""The most valuable feature of the solution is SCM (Storage Class Memory), which has the lowest latency value in the storage industry.""The most valuable features were the performance of the array, i.e., very low latency and high IOPS. Plus, the management interface is very easy to use.""Most of the features for the reduction in data compression are useful. It is also very easy to use and administer. Its performance is also good."

Cons
"The call charges and the management cost should be more friendly. They can also include monitoring and management.""The handling of data deletion and bulk servers setup could have been more straightforward and easier when dealing with data removal or setting up servers. I believe Huawei could enhance their solutions, especially managing storage, to provide a better experience for customers."

"I have looked at a few pages of a report I download and I saw a graph there regarding software-defined vendors. IBM is not in a good position on this graph. I know that they are working very hard on this, to make it much better and to get to a level where it's not only hardware but also software to provide a complete solution.""Additional licenses might be added for the fundamental licenses, such as those for copying and flash copies.""The ease of installation should be improved. We had issues with the configuration model.""The only issue my team faced was transferring the data from the old system to IBM FlashSystem, which is an area for improvement in the solution.""It is slightly more expensive, however, it all depends on your supplier.""IBM could do more marketing and improve brand awareness. I had never heard of this product until a colleague told me about it. FlashSystem could add a few features, but it would probably increase the price. For example, Pure Storage offers instant snapshotting and partitioning. That would be nice to have, but I think the cost would go up.""The technical support in my region is satisfactory but it could improve. Support is very important for customers and downtime is very critical for us. We would like onsite or complete technical support which can help us to minimize our downtime or if problems occur.""The basic setup can be challenging when it comes to certain IP addresses and the configuration of the IP. You have to go in to different menus to makes changes and ensure it is stable."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is cheaper than other solutions."
  • "The installation is expensive as they often come as a comprehensive package. The design is more integrated, and everything is bundled together as part of the solution. This is what contributes to the higher cost of their solutions because when you purchase one element, it often comes with additional features and components, and you end up paying for the entire package."

  • "Pricing can be considered as per market competition."
  • "The total storage capacity vs price is still quite high for the IBM Flash Array."
  • "It pays to go back and get the best price you can from your supplier. The first offer is not always at the best discount."
  • "Regarding licensing make sure you add at least three years software maintenance from IBM at the beginning, because you will not be able to download firmware updates or any fixes/patches without this."
  • "IBM V7000 has a new license and price structure which provides intuitive licensing based on the functions customers wish to enable and use the most."
  • "The pricing has been very competitive for the last few years. IBM got to the point where they changed the pricing model and we feel very comfortable with the pricing. It's very competitive. Over the last two years, IBM has been coming up with all kinds of interesting promos, especially for the SMB systems. That makes it very competitive price-wise and in terms of performance..."
  • "For a yearly license, it is about $100,000. There are no additional costs. The entire system is included."
  • "The integration is already included in the license cost of IBM FlashSystem. The integration is very easy. You get the IBM storage core with all software, firmware, and upgrades. EMC provides the features in the box, but they are not free for customers. There is a licensing cost for features. We have yearly licensing, but IBM has also provided a new option where you pay as you go. They provide a big box, and I pay, for example, for 10 terabytes. If I exceed 10 terabytes, IBM will charge for the new storage after 10 terabytes. It is a good opportunity in the market for using the storage as a cloud and paying as you go."
