We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"For small businesses and people who have some technical skills and are good with Linux command line, this solution is great. I love Linode because it is very fast. Whereas, the same configuration on Azure and AWS will be so slow. The best thing is that their pricing and speed are great.""When I started using Linode, I found its functionality easy to navigate, user-friendly and responsive to my needs. It provides clear reminders about services I'm not using, like DNS zones, which I appreciate.""The ability to fire up a virtual machine, use it, and then kill it, is quite a valuable feature for me.""The cloud management panel is nice.""Linode offers cost-effective pricing, and it enables me to swiftly deploy my services.""The fact that you can do any Linux distribution is great. You can try out any Linux distribution, even some of the more obscure ones, and they are always keeping them up-to-date. As soon as a new distribution comes out, it is on the platform pretty much the same day, which I find really helpful.""The fact that you can get a person on the phone has just been fantastic.""The virtual machine configuration tool is very helpful for setting up a new server or for modifying an existing server."

"VMware Tanzu Mission Control has many valuable features, such as ease of use and customization.""A feature we find valuable is that other products can also be integrated with Mission Control. This means that we can see the status of specific clusters, as well as view the monitoring application logs all from one point.""The most popular feature of VMware Tanzu Mission Control is its graphical user interface for describing network policies on the Service Mesh, which is highly integrable with other tools commonly used in supply chains such as security.""The most important thing about the solution is its flexibility.""Defining security metrics has proven beneficial for customers in maintaining a safe environment.""The multi-tenancy with the VCD is great.""The most valuable feature of VMware Tanzu Mission Control is the management functionality of the cluster life cycle. Additionally, the solution integrates well with other vendors, such as Velero for backups and Sonobuoy for compliance. Additionally, it works well in multi-cluster environments.""Tanzu Mission Control has quite a set of rich features when compared to OpenShift."

Cons
"I don't know how all of their services work, but my understanding is that they're not offering the entry-level machine for someone who just wants to own their own web page.""I'm not sure what could be improved at Linode since they're likely already making enhancements, especially with the Akamai acquisition and, I don't have any specific suggestions as I haven't encountered any major issues. I might consider using API for managing DNS records, but overall, I'm satisfied with Linode.""It's not really an issue with Linode itself but upgrading Linux major versions can be challenging. It would be be fantastic if Linode developed a way to ease transitioning to a major new Linux upgrade.""When it comes to marketing and exposure, Linode needs improvement because I just randomly found them by looking for Linux solutions.""There is no notification from the company regarding upgrades.""They don't have role-based access control, which is problematic for us.""I would like to see more seamless integration with backup, although it's pretty easy to do.""They recently changed the web interface and although the older one did not look as good, the new one is less responsive."

More Linode Cons →

"We want to see a new feature that helps build more security architecture like Zero Trust Security or shifting left in Kubernetes.""The solution could improve by having better integration with other solutions such as HPE.""Another area of improvement is pricing.""Cost is always a concern. Smaller companies might find the price a bigger issue.""This product doesn't have a GUI. In order to use it properly, I need to connect it to a new GUI or build a GUI to manage it — it's pretty difficult.""LYNX is a managed cluster solution that takes care of specific details within a cluster, such as sequences or services. I haven't seen this feature in Tanzu Mission Control.""The network control and security policies must be improved.""It is not easy to build a solution with containers. It has a graphical user interface, but you need to have a lot of knowledge of Linux and how to work in the command mode. Its support can also be improved. Currently, its biggest disadvantage is that it is a new product, and the clients prefer to go for a solution that has been in the market for a long time. There are not that many people who know this product."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I pay just over £20 per month and have done so ever since I started eight years ago, which to me is good value."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. I like the simplicity of it, starting at $5, then doubling as it goes up from there. That is a brilliant idea, and it is not complex at all. It is about as dead simple as you can imagine. So, if you want to double what you have, then you double your price, pay the money, and reboot. It is done. It's that simple. You can't beat that."
  • "One key difference is that pricing is very hard to come by and to understand with all the bigger companies. Their pricing models are so weird and it's hard to figure out exactly how much I am going to pay for this kind of service. Everything is piecemeal. With Linode, it's simple and straightforward. You know exactly what you will have to pay at the end of the day."
  • "Compared to other service providers, like AWS and Google, the cost of services are much less and more affordable. We are saving about 90 percent by going with Linode versus other cloud providers."
  • "The pricing model is very simple. If you have very small applications, you can use the plan which costs $5 per month. That gives you 50 GB of memory and almost 1 GB of RAM. If you need more than you have to select the next plan which is $10 per month, which has about 70 GB of data and 2 GB of RAM."
  • "The value for the price is really good."
  • "Pricing is very good and flexible, according to the resources required."
  • "Being that they are small, their prices are slightly higher than the large providers like Amazon if you compare raw computing power."

  • "There are different licenses available. You have to upgrade your license if you want to scale the solution more."
  • "I would recommend that businesses look into the full price for their requirements. The price is high, but there are some open-source add-ons that can be used for customization while keeping costs down, although these might not be suitable for everyone."
  • "VMware Tanzu Mission Control is cheaper than Red Hat OpenShift."
  • "Its pricing is very competitive. We get around 70% or 75%, sometimes even 80%, discount on the product. I would rate it a four out of five in terms of pricing."
  • "The solution is only for large or medium size enterprises because it is expensive."
  • "The product is not expensive, but it is not cheap."
  • "It is not the most expensive option, and I believe the capabilities align well with the value it provides."
  • "Since we were at a large data center, the price might not have been a concern for us."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by VMware Tanzu Mission Control

users who are currently using the solution.

PeerSpot user Abbasi P., who is a Vice President Derivatives Ops IT at a financial services firm, mentions what he finds to be most useful about the product, stating, “Tanzu Mission Control has quite a set of rich features when compared to OpenShift. I like the dashboard for monitoring the CI/CD pipeline, the entire process of releasing it into the cloud, and deploying it to the cloud.

Aurelio R., who is an IT Specialist at a tech services company, explains why he thinks the solution is valuable. “The most important feature of Tanzu Mission Control is its integration with the other products, especially with ESX and vSAN. This is a strong part of Tanzu Mission Control. In other solutions, such as OpenShift or Kubernetes, you can find similar features, but they don't have similar integration. With Tanzu Mission Control, you get a total solution with only one provider. You have the integration with the infrastructure, virtualization of networking, and virtualization of storage. You have a natural integration, and you don't have the problem of integrating it with different products or providers. Sometimes, different companies have good integration, but it is not always guaranteed. For example, many years ago, Cisco and VMware were good partners in networking, but when VMware started to sell ESX, the relationship was broken. This is the problem that you can face when you are using solutions from two different companies."

A Cloud Architect at a computer software company says, “The multi-tenancy with the VCD is great.
