We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The organizational charts for visualizing and understanding team hierarchies and relationships are the reason why we purchased the package that would allow me to do more with it. I tried to find all the cheap ways to do things but the ease of access and the already preset structure that Lucidchart had in place made it easier. Out of all the choices that I saw come across my desk, Lucidchart was the best and easiest choice.""Creating flowcharts and documentation is easy to do and the results are very nice.""When it comes to documenting things like processes, systems, and new teams, I'd give it an eight or nine out of ten. It's very high because it's fairly intuitive, there's a low learning curve, and it's easy to get immediate output. You can get results very quickly without a lot of direct effort. You don't usually take a week-long series of training. You don't need to go through a lot of hoops to make it work.""There is no alternative to Lucidchart if you want to describe a five-step process with bullet points. I believe every person who ever worked with PowerPoint on any type of documentation and then thought about which tool would actually help to describe what they're trying to do but without the words, would come up with Lucidchart.""The interface is easy for a layperson to use and adapt to.""The best part of Lucidchart is its comfortableness when sharing it with my teammates. Lucidchart provides me a folder for my ERD. I can make a dozen lists of my chart, then share them with my teammates easily through the diagrams of Lucidchart. This is their main comfortableness, which is the reason why I choose Lucidchart rather than some other chart program.""Easy to work on.""The templates are quite valuable, as is the fact that you can export to PDF, to a Visio document, or as a picture. These are valuable features for me because they give me the ability to make changes in any other product that I'm using. I'm not bound by one platform."

"What's most valuable in MEGA HOPEX is that it follows the reference model where each component is defined. I also like the diagram consistency in MEGA HOPEX.""HOPEX has a panel that offers various views. I think that is very good. MEGA has an app for integrating with a lot of apps. We help our clients integrate HOPEX with a different product like Apple Gateway, for example. I've been with the company for 15 years, and we connect with everything. Our clientele includes almost all of the banks in Mexico.""We use the portfolio management feature heavily.""The most valuable feature is that the software controls everything from a single management window.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the reuse of common enterprise components and entities.""Its availability is very good.""The support experience in Latin America is great.""You do not need to be a professional of enterprise modeling to contribute to the enrichment and improvement of the enterprise repository."

Cons
"Perhaps it already exists, but if there were software to install the solution on a Mac, that would be helpful. I see that it's not in the App Store, so that's something that could be improved.""I would like an on-premises version of the software that I can just download and use. I think that it's easier that way.""It would be nice to have more features that help me visually present information. Since I use it as a canvas, my use case for it is probably very specific. I use it as a way to present information to people visually on a large mind map. So, it would be nice to be able to have more graphical things to clean it up, like a header, banners, or something to help draw attention to certain areas. I would also like more infographic-like features, because I am kind of limited to float chart shapes. This makes the solution a little cumbersome.""The flowcharting feature would be improved if it had some kind of prediction capability that helped to create the diagrams, such as the ability to automatically join components with my database.""This might already be a feature, but I remember sometimes when we're just all viewing, if you accidentally click, then there's an arrow that pops up, and you have to go back and delete it. A lot of times there are accidental arrows being drawn when really we're just trying to present to each other.""When you want to add text to a connector arrow, I have not figured out how to position the text vertically. It always wants the text to stay horizontal.""One of the issues has been that, as far as I understand, even to view it, the other person needs a Lucidchart account unless you send them a PDF. That's been a bit of an issue because some people in our organization don't have Lucidchart accounts, only certain people have logins. If we just want to collect comments from people, that's been a bit complicated.""If you're trying to expand a comments box that is sitting on top of the chart, it automatically defaults to assuming you're trying to connect it to the next step in the process, when all you're trying to do is make the box bigger. It automatically goes to the arrow, but I just want to resize the box. That gets a little cumbersome because it does it every single time. It's not just a bug."

More Lucidchart Cons →

"The initial setup can be quite complex at first.""The solution is quite expensive.""It would be great if this solution could integrate with other tools such as ITSM (ServiceNow) or CMDB.""The solution lacks additional models compared to other tools.""In my experience, I've encountered difficulties with consuming custom packages in MEGA HOPEX, which leads to redundant work when deploying them to production. This is an area where improvement is needed. While version six offers better UI and UX, resolving this issue should be a priority. I believe it's important to fully explore MEGA HOPEX's capabilities before suggesting new ones.""It has a data domain where we load our data objects onto the tool but doesn't provide data governance capabilities such as cleansing or validating data.""The training materials and learning process need improvement.""Better documentation and training would be helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing comes in at about $100 for a year's subscription, which is very reasonable if this is a tool that you will use more than once."
  • "The pricing and licensing are fine, though I wish they didn't require you to buy the licenses in batches of five."
  • "The pricing and licensing are fine. It has a lot of features that I prefer over some of the other programs, which is good. Being that it is web-based, I feel that it is acceptable that it's on a monthly pay basis. However, I think I pay on an annual basis, which is fine with me."
  • "I'm happy with the pricing of Lucidchart but I can't say I'm completely happy with it. It could be cheaper for what it offers, about $5 cheaper, or Lucid could charge $5 more and add more features, like automation. Right now, it's $15 per user per month... On the other hand, they have made their billing super-easy for users, such as for people who have to do expense reports. It is probably the easiest platform I'm using when it comes to billing for software as a service."
  • "We chose Lucid based on the price comparison between it and draw.io... Lucidchart was about 15 percent cheaper per user... I was surprised to learn that it came with a separate subscription model and was not included in my existing Lucidchart subscription."
  • "The pricing is very reasonable, and they have a free trial available that you can play with."
  • "Pricing-wise, it is pretty fair. I don't really know what group pricing looks like, but right now, I pay $10 a month for my Lucid subscription. One thing I would say is that I do worry about my bosses being okay with paying $10 a month for every single employee because we would have around 20 people. It makes me a little nervous about whether they are going to pay $200 a month for people to be able to use this software. At the same time, from where I'm sitting, it's totally worth it. We save a thousand dollars from using this software. It's still a no-brainer."
  • "I have a subscription as an individual user for one year, and it is not expensive."

  • "If you want to use additional features, such as the Risk Management capability, then it is a little too expensive."
  • "It is very expensive."
  • "The price of the MEGA HOPEX license could improve, it is expensive. The license key for business process analysis and IT architecture is approximately €10,000. This price is fixed, it's not a subscription or cloud-based version. It is a one-time price."
  • "The price of the support depends on the vendors that are reselling this module or the MEGA HOPEX version 5. We are on premium support and are their only partners in the GCC, we have a premium support contract with them. The support we have is not with the client. The client does not bear the cost, it's us who bear the cost."
  • "I've been told that MEGA HOPEX is very expensive, which is why small organizations dismiss the tool. It's complex and costly versus other simpler and cheaper solutions."
  • "The product has a high cost."
  • "The tool is relatively expensive."
  • "The pricing depends on the number of licenses purchased."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the MEGA HOPEX solution.

PeerSpot user Kayode A., Enterprise Architecture Consultant at ZealHosts Consulting, says, “What I find the most valuable is the process workflow. It is really good. The fact that you can decompose is also valuable, as is the file D structure. Also, the fact that you can have your own logical repository structure and you can drag and drop is very valuable. This is largely because of its intuitiveness. Once you understand the logic behind the tool, MEGA HOPEX is quite intuitive. I also like the ability to create custom reports. I like the fact that you can share repository content via web to other end users who are not architects.”

A Software Architect at a transportation company mentions, “The main feature that we like the most is the ability to have a unique repository where all the architects can interact and play together with the shapes of different architecture solutions. They have a unified repository where users can share the developments they're working on. Its availability is very good.”

An IT Consulting Manager at a tech services company comments, "We have many use cases for this solution but the feature I have found most valuable is the IT Portfolio Management module."
