We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Free ingestion for Azure logs (with E5 licence)""The log query feature has been the most valuable because it's very good. You can put your data on the cloud and run queues from Sentinel. It will do it all very fast. I love that I don't have to upload it to an Excel file and then manually look for a piece of information. Sentinel is much faster and is good for big databases.""We can use Sentinel's playbook to block threats. It covers all of the environment, giving us great visibility.""The automation rules and playbooks are the most useful that I've seen. A number of other places segregate the automation and playbook as separate tools, whereas Microsoft is a SIEM and SOAR tool in one.""There are some very powerful features to Sentinel, such as the integration of various connectors. We have a lot of departments that use both IaaS and SaaS services, including M365 as well as Azure services. The ability to leverage connectors into these environments allows for large-scale data injection.""We didn't have anything similar. So, it really provides value from the incidents and automation point of view. The overview of the security fabric is most valuable.""Sentinel also enables you to ingest data from your entire ecosystem and not just from the Microsoft ecosystem. It can receive data from third-party vendors' products such firewalls, network devices, and antivirus solutions. It's not only a Microsoft solution, it's for everything.""The SOAR playbooks are Sentinel's most valuable feature. It gives you a unified toolset for detecting, investigating, and responding to incidents. That's what clearly differentiates Sentinels from its competitors. It's cloud-native, offering end-to-end coverage with more than 120 connectors. All types of data logs can be poured into the system so analysis can happen. That end-to-end visibility gives it the advantage."

"ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer is easy to gather reports to give to management. My supervisor has access to the solution and he enjoys the graphs.""The user interface is very good.""It is stable.""The tool's reports show activities.""I have made use of technical support and am certainly very satisfied with them.""The reporting features are noteworthy, as they provide templates that streamline the process of generating reports""The initial setup is straightforward""The log management has helped to improve my organization."

"The Sharecon feature is the most valuable.""The most valuable feature is that this solution is more secure than others, and there are more applications and features as well.""It is easier to deploy than are other SIEMs, which is great. You can also get an overview of your environment, which is very handy.""It is nice to be able to monitor and to have notifications.""We haven't had any stability issues.""ManageEngine Log360 is not difficult to deploy.""The deployment is quite simple and pretty straightforward.""The reporting is great. Everything you need is in the report for you already."

Cons
"If you're looking to use canned queries, the interface could be a little more straightforward. It's not immediately intuitive regarding how you use it. You have to take a canned query and paste it into an operational box and then you hit a button... They could improve the ease of deploying these queries.""Its documentation is not so simple. It is easy for somebody who is Microsoft certified or more closely attached to Microsoft solutions. It is not easy for those who are working on open-source platforms. There isn't a central point where everything is documented, and there is no specific training or certification.""Sometimes, we are observing large ingestion delays. We expect logs within 5 minutes, but it takes about 10 to 15 minutes.""I believe one of the challenges I encountered was the absence of live training sessions, even with the option to pay for them.""The data connectors for third-party tools could be improved, as some aren't available in Sentinel. They need to be available in the data connector panel.""The on-prem log sources still require a lot of development.""Currently, the watchlist feature is being utilized, and although there have been improvements, it is still not fully optimized.""We'd like also a better ticketing system, which is older."

"There isn't good security integration when it comes to cybersecurity. The correlation of logs isn't so simple.""The scalability is limited.""What I'd like to see as an improvement to ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer is for it to be more AI-driven. Having more automation would also make the solution better.""There's a lot to improve in terms of connectivity. Currently, we're utilizing it across various infrastructures and environments, including others' cloud. However, connecting it to our infrastructure and integrating it with some of our SMAX solutions poses difficulties.""It may not be as easy to use as Splunk.""The first tier of customer service and support is not great.""Support could improve to make the solution better.""The customization of reports could be a lot easier. It is not difficult but it could be made easier."

More ManageEngine EventLog Analyzer Cons →

"The solution lacks some features when compared to other products.""We can log in as a local user, and it's fine, but when we login with an Active Directory user, we cannot.""It's difficult to find which conditions have been applied to a report because they are provided by default by ManageEngine. However, with other SIEMs if you want to create a report, they provide details, like which conditions are triggering certain reports. This needs to be there in ManageEngine. It would be good to know which parameter has been applied to the report that is updating the system.""The matter of the data retention needs to be addressed.""The graphical interface could be made easier to use when you are connecting to different network equipment.""It takes a little bit of time for Log360 to actually learn your environment.""On the logging system, there's a local on-client side that is encrypted, and there's one that is not encrypted. It is only for diagnostical purposes. However, both being encrypted would be very valuable for some audits.""Most times log sheets are not assigned well."

  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."
