We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"In terms of the installation, ease of use, and user interface, Defender has been great so far.""The most valuable aspect is information, specifically the automatic investigation of packages.""It's a Microsoft product; it's easier to deploy this product than other options.""The features I have found most valuable are the ransomware and malware protection. The solution detects malware live and whenever it detects suspicious activity, it quarantines it.""The best thing I like about it is its interaction with the other Defender products. It provides the ability to push telemetry up. It gives me endpoint visibility and allows me to take automated actions.""Easy to understand and easy to set up endpoint security solution. It's a multifeatured product with web content filtering and automated investigation features. It also has a fantastic vulnerability management dashboard.""There are some competitive products on the market, but the best is Microsoft Defender because it's very easy to integrate. That's one reason a lot of clients want Microsoft Defender. It's also very easy to implement compared to other solutions.""It captures data through machine learning, which is built-in on the back-end. It also provides built-in analytics and a threat intelligence feature. It is a one-stop solution that doesn't require an antivirus because it comes prebuilt into Windows 10."

"I rate Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's stability a ten out of ten.""There's a good amount of documentation in case you run into any problems.""For Purview's natively integrated compliance across Azure, Dynamics 365, and Office 365, I would give it a 10 out of 10. It provides all the insights and information.""The product can block the uploads to cloud services.""We can use Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention to manage devices and site policies.""The auto-labeling feature is definitely the most valuable feature. It goes in and labels the documents for you in different repositories. It covers the Outlook and Exchange repositories along with SharePoint and OneDrive. It is really helpful in those areas.""Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's responses are faster. Its installation is also reliable. The security score helps with the security part.""The product has improved compliance and confidence. We are aware of the data that is leaving our organization. It provides confidence in data management and information storage."

Cons
"Lacks some additional integration.""Microsoft Defender for Endpoint could improve by providing more user-friendly dashboards. They may be complicated for some.""Microsoft Defender for Endpoint can use more advertising to promote their features.""I would just like them to have more consistency, and that's a comment that's across the board with Microsoft. They change things a lot.""There are alternative solutions that offer a greater range of dashboard insights when compared to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.""Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is effective for validating work, but not ideal for investigations.""If the solution could be integrated more with Defender for Cloud, to be more unified, that would help. It is good now, but even more integration could be done with Defender for Cloud. We see two different portals. If Defender for Endpoint could be ported to the CSPM, Defender for Cloud, that would make things even easier for us.""My main issue with the tool is that there are too many menus. This causes a steep learning curve for those without training or unfamiliar with Defender for Endpoint. From an end-user perspective, the solution is there on the machine and does its job; it works seamlessly. However, as a security professional dealing with it behind the scenes, the learning curve can be steep, but not too steep. Still, it has taken some of my analysts up to a month to get familiar with the product."

More Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Cons →

"They do not provide language options beyond the ones already available, so our language option is missing.""Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention's licensing is expensive.""I would like Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention to be on the source code or SQL databases. It is difficult to do classification and labeling when you have a third-party source code or a third-party Oracle database. It is seamless when it comes to Microsoft documents but is not so with third-party source codes. Microsoft needs to work on it a little bit more.""The support is poor.""Technical support is awful.""There is no AIP for Linux systems. That's a setback. Another thing it's lacking is libraries to work with Python. It has libraries for C# and C++, for example, but not for Python and, these days, Python is very useful.""The platform can be challenging to navigate and has the potential for improvement.""There is a lot of ambiguity when you are setting up labels, such as sensitive information labels. It is a little daunting at first if you don't have prior knowledge, and there is a little bit of a learning curve for setting up the labels. Some of the setup wizards could be more helpful from an AI perspective. They can streamline the setup through more AI technologies so that you don't have to jump through so many hoops and different menus and dropdowns. It would be useful to have a setup wizard that is more hands-off and engaging for setting up the information type labels. If you tell them this is what we're trying to protect, it should basically start to lead you down that path of best practices. Such a feature would be great."

  • "It is a part of our Microsoft licensing. We pay for a yearly renewal. Its price is reasonable for the size of the organization we are. It is fairly competitive, and you get what you pay for. We have an E5 license, and a part of understanding the E5 license is to see what all you get with it. If you really look at it from that standpoint, you get a lot of value. You have Defender and all its security features in there as well. Their licensing is fairly flexible. They have different programs. We've seen ones where you could pay for up to three to five years in advance. There is also a monthly pay-as-you-go type of deal, but we're doing a yearly renewal and fixing the budget."
  • "Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention is part of a bundle and is not sold as a standalone product."
  • "The product has the best price-to-performance ratio."
  • "It's a little bit pricey compared to competitors, but it's not too high."
  • "We are using the E3 license for Microsoft 365 with the E5 compliance license add-on."
  • "The pricing is reasonable."
  • "I am satisfied with the tool's pricing."
