We performed a comparison between Microsoft BI and SAP Analytics Cloud based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Microsoft BI is the winner in this comparison. Its users give it higher marks in the customer support category. SAP Analytics users are happier with the pricing, however.
"It's user-friendly and provides data abstracting capabilities. We are also able to share reports with our colleagues very easily."
"The visuals are great and make everything look very professional. We can change the look and feel or manipulate the data according to our requirements. It's extremely flexible."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The solution overall is very useful. The reports that are generated and the reporting functionality management are beneficial."
"Provides a full platform (database, ETL, reporting, analysis, and so on)"
"It is easy to use. It has got a desktop where people can develop their own dashboards. Basically, we have figured out how to connect finance contracts and all programs for the government agency. So, they can see everything in a dashboard. So, it is very easy to use from a technical standpoint of view."
"It is very good, and it supports the Microsoft ecosystem, including Excel, etc."
"It's a powerful platform."
"In the most recent release, the schedule publication was officially updated and it's been added on MS Office 365. I like how we had an EPM for B to C perspective; it's a great enhancement. Also, I believe the B to B connectivity has been improved. Android support for mobile is really good also. Power BI has always had android support in place, so manual support for SAP Analytics Cloud is also a very good feature."
"Technical support is helpful."
"The visualizations have been the most valuable feature."
"Planning and integration are the most valuable features. It is useful for planning, and it is useful for integrating with on-prem or cloud SAP solutions."
"What my customers like best about SAP Analytics Cloud is the dashboard because it's pretty good."
"All of the modules that we used to have separately in our on-premises solution are now integrated into one platform."
"SAP Analytics Cloud is very easy to use, and you don't require much technology. It has a very good library and analytics. It is easy to configure and offers good visualization."
"SAP Analytics Cloud is easy to create charts with, and is a stable business intelligence platform. Easy to set up solution."
"Microsoft Power BI can be confusing, because it has two languages that you need to learn if you want to use it, and this makes it more difficult for nontechnical users."
"Real-time updating needs improvement."
"It needs an AI which can choose the appropriate connection strings and provide options for connections."
"I would prefer that the solution not be shared. I'm concerned that if we make a mistake we could reveal information to people who shouldn't see it. I would like to have my own on-prem server, to buy my own server and have my own infrastructure for Microsoft BI, with only with my data."
"Integrating it with the physics build model or the engineering model should be included."
"I would like to see integration with Excel."
"The cost of the solution can get high."
"In Microsoft Excel, you are able to have tabs. However, in Microsoft BI you do not have this flexibility."
"Could be more user-friendly; somewhat complicated to use."
"I would also like to have more advanced features for predictive analytics."
"SAP could add more templates to the platform."
"It's lacking a bit in maturity and we find we can't run our business off it until it's improved."
"It seems like there's a problem with the tool's licenses. If there are a lot of users, like 200, who only use the solution once a year, paying for a full-year license for each user is expensive. There's no option for users who only use the solution occasionally."
"Live Data Models are very slow and the setup can be improved, with tools such as Cloud Connector being inbuilt into SAP Analytics Cloud. Likewise, we need to write application code from scratch, rather than tweaking existing code, as we might with Excel macros. Moreover, when using responsive pages, the widgets get adjusted according to the mobile screen. As a result, when I place two or three KPI tiles, they can only be viewed tile-by-tile. We want to see the full dashboard on the mobile screen and zoom in to click on a particular section of the dashboard and go further into that. But displaying tile-by-tile makes it very annoying and the upper management using this dashboard might not be aware there are any more tiles to view."
"Currently only one data modeler can work at a time."
"The connection works only for importing data. Currently, there is no real-time integration between SAP Analytics Cloud and CRM. There are some features present in the classic but not in the optimized version. If I need to create something specific, I often have to switch the versions. It would be more convenient to have a single product that incorporates all the necessary features."
