We performed a comparison between Mikrotik Routers and Switches and Ubiquiti Unifi Switches based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Both of these solutions are very effective at what they do, are competitively priced, and are very user-friendly. Many users feel Mikrotik is outdated and has not done a good job staying current with the needs of today's rapidly changing business dynamic. Additionally, Mikrotik is not a usable solution for an enterprise-level organization. Therefore for this comparison, Ubiquiti Unifi Switches finish ahead of Mikrotik Routers and Switches.
"They are very good at providing the bandwidth for multi-tenants and multi-dwelling units. We're managing WiFi hotspots for hundreds of locations, and the speed and performance are quite there. They also have very cheap 10G products that come with really good and flexible software. They are way cheaper than the top brands, and they're able to deliver the same performance and capabilities."
"The best part about MikroTik Routers is the price."
"They use wireless and wired connections that include all of the features."
"These routers and switches are very stable."
"The MikroTik Hotspot is great."
"The flexible IP firewall and IP network address translation make it very easy to give access to internal services."
"The tool's most valuable features are flexibility and configuration. It can be used in large setups."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use."
"This product is very reasonably priced."
"Ubiquiti UniFi Switches are stable and support Layer 3. They come with a user-friendly interface. If you're not familiar with the command-line interface or you wouldn't like to configure it by using the command line, they have a user-friendly interface that you can use. They also have good documentation about how to use these switches."
"UniFi Switches' best feature is the ability to switch voltage from 24 to 48, and it's almost the only device on the market with this feature."
"It's very easy to deploy – much easier than MikroTik. It's very seamless and well-designed."
"The solution’s scalability is good."
"The integration with the controller is one of the most valuable features of these switches. They are also very stable. For example, we have some equipment that we haven't touched for four years that is still reliable."
"The value here with using the Ubiquiti products across the board is that they're almost all single-pane management and the single-pane management is included. It's a huge benefit."
"The two most valuable features are the remote access user and the side-to-side connection."
"The CPU load is too high. This causes the Internet to lag."
"There are limitations to how many users you have simultaneously."
"I would like to see a cluster feature added, where multiple devices can be configured and managed as one. One is in a standby state while the other is active, and if one fails then the other takes over."
"The batch management could be improved."
"It is slow, old and unfriendly."
"If the client wants bigger capacity, there may be some issues. That is, there may be issues with scalability."
"Technical support could be better. They don't have good support like Cisco. It can also be more stable and scalable."
"The initial setup can be a bit difficult. The configuration can take a lot of time."
"The initial deployment was a bit complex."
"We've had issues with the power supply. I've had to change the power supply twice. I'm not sure what the issue is. We're still trying to work out why we're having problems with the switches and the cutting of the power supply. The solution should look into this to see if there is something wrong with the product."
"There is currently an issue with supply of switches which needs to be sorted out."
"It would be nice if there was a way to label all of the ports on it so that I could include information about where the various connections go."
"Some of the features needed to set up the solution are too complex. There's a lot of technical information that is required."
"It would be helpful to have better visibility into exactly what is going on in the network."
"In terms of improvement, sometimes we have bugs."
"It would be beneficial for us if Ubiquiti had a team of advanced data transportation specialists that we could get feedback from. We are not experts in data transportation, so having this sort of resource would be helpful for us."

Ubiquiti Unifi is a great solution. For starters, it is easy to configure and implement, and doesn’t require a learning curve because it is easy to use. It is also simple to reconfigure an AP or gateway quickly if needed. Ubiquiti provides mesh networking with seamlessly traversed APs that have no noticeable issues. I especially like that Unifi has a mobile app, making it easy for me to check on my sites, but also to configure APs individually. The Ubiquiti Unifi price point is also fair. One disadvantage of the Ubiquiti Unifi switches is its AP provisioning; if you need to make any changes, the AP has to go offline, which can interrupt business operations and be very disruptive. Also, the metrics can be a little challenging to understand even though they are easy to find.
MikroTik’s script-based management helps administrators automate repetitive or routine tasks. Administrators also have the ability to modify configuration on a packet level, allowing them to allocate bandwidth to areas with higher traffic rates. Because the underlying MikroTik RouterOS is the same across all hardware models, potential customers can test configurations and deployment on other, cheaper equipment before making the decision to commit to a more expensive hardware option. Overall, MikroTik is an affordable solution, and it also has a licensing system that is straightforward. Besides being cost-effective, MikroTik has a user-friendly GUI, includes a built-in firewall, has routing protocols, NAT, SFP support, and gigabit ethernet. It is suitable for both small and medium-sized companies. And most importantly, it is highly customizable, allowing you to write powerful scripts to enhance functions.
Conclusion: While both Ubiquiti Unifi and MikroTik offer routers and switches, I think MikroTik has more granular flexibility and customizability than Ubiquiti. However, I think even though Ubiquiti can be considered more rigid than MikroTik, it offers a smoother and better user experience.
Analyzing the two hardware, Mikrotik has the advantage of its anticipation.
He was one of the first to create a simple interface, making it more complex for those users who required more power to control their equipment.
Although UBNT has grown as a brand, its power is based on the unification of products and not a specific one. For me that simple reason, they make Mikrotik a rank higher than UBNT.
