Q&A Highlights
Question: Which IDaaS solution do you prefer and why?
Answer: As Principal Solution Architect for Identity Security, I prefer and recommend the solution from SailPoint (SailPoint Identity Security Cloud - IdentityNow). IdentityNow can be implemented in an existing infrastructure with little effort. The additional AI functions provide a very good overview and help to convert the current status quo into the desired target status with recommendations. The release cycles for new and updated functions are also very short. In the current release of SailPoint IDentityNow, for example, there is a backup function for the current configuration, which makes it easy to roll back a change to the previous state.

Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable aspects of the solution are the integration with external websites one-factor authentication.""It is a very scalable solution.""It is flexible and easy to install.""It made things a lot easier, especially with passwords.""The provisioning functionality has been the most valuable. This solution has good performance, fast integration and is very responsive.""It's easy to use and straightforward.""Okta has introduced the Universal Directory. It has custom attribute capability and user permissions to read/write on their profiles or hide them. Profile sources and identity profile sourcing are two different components that I haven't seen in other products.""We face no challenges in integrating the product with our legacy systems."

"It provides ease of connecting all our devices.""PingFederate is very flexible. We can do many customizations, and it also provides an SDK to tailor it to our specific requirements. There are also numerous plugins available. I've worked with tools like ForgeRock and Okta, but I find PingFederate to be the most customizable.""I find the auto-discovery feature the most valuable. It helps us automate a lot of things using a single password across applications.""The soundness of the solution is its most valuable feature. For example, if you are in our corporate network, you can log on without any traffic interfering.""I like the self-service feature. The 502 and UBP systems are also excellent. PingID's ability to authenticate with SSH, RDP, and Windows login is pretty handy. It covers the entire spectrum of use.""The solution is highly stable and scalable""The most valuable feature is multifactor authentication.""It is a scalable solution...It is a stable solution."

Cons
"Okta Workforce Identity can improve by having more features in governance.""The ability or the options in the solution for changing the look and feel are not good enough because in our partner portal, essentially what they have is an ugly admin interface.""On the admin side, we can create our own passwords instead of generating one, which is usually difficult to explain to a user.""It only facilitates provisioning and not de-provisioning.""The solution’s policies are difficult to understand due to the policy methods. They use authentication. The solution’s workflow is also difficult and not very active. They need to have proper documentation on it. In the next release, I would like to see the workflows being more digestible.""They should focus on improving them to provide top-notch team access management while still offering those typical features.""A room for improvement in Okta Workforce Identity is its price. It could be cheaper. The biggest benefit of the solution is that everything works securely without extra steps, so you're saving on your workforce's time and effort because your applications work smoothly and securely, but you'd need to pay some amount of money for that. Another area that could be improved, though not necessarily regarding Okta Workforce Identity, is the SSO applications because so many of the source applications charge extra money to put the SSO to work, which means you have to buy a more expensive license. Nowadays, SSO is a mainstream functionality and it should be out-of-the-box in those applications because it's so easy to set up.""Application updates are lacking. Customer support needs to be improved."

More Okta Workforce Identity Cons →

"The initial setup appears to be difficult in the beginning.""The management console needs to be improved. PingID should revise it.""PingID should put a little more effort into making a pretty self-explanatory deck about their tech features and the services they offer.""It has a long way to go until it is a cloud-based solution.""The solution should allow for better integration with other platforms and the UBT.""We have encountered instances where it is not easy to do authentication.""PingID classifies the type of environment into internal and external, which is an area for improvement because you need to take additional steps to trust internal and external users.""It requires some expertise to set up and manage."

  • "It could be a bit too pricey for small companies. Okta Workforce Identity can add a lot of benefits, but smaller companies may not have a lot of applications that need to be managed by Okta Workforce Identity. In addition to standard licensing fees, there are also additional costs for things"

I used to use Okta in the past as a 2 step verification app and worked pretty well for more than 300 users. Nothing wrong with Okta. Easy to troubleshoot and easy to install. Also can be embeded into your profile company in case you need to have it installed it as a default solution.

I would recommend you use JumpCloud and they have 10 users free. So you can use it for trial level and then scale up. Its seamless, user-friendly, and simple.
