We performed a comparison between Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform and SolarWinds Network Automation Manager based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Cisco, Red Hat, SolarWinds and others in Network Automation."The playbooks and the code the solution uses are quite useful."
"I like Ansible's ease of use. If you have Linux skills, you can create a reusable template for the dependencies and other configurations. I can store the templates in a repository and share them with my customers or other developers. It's a popular solution, so there is a large user base that can share templates."
"Installing it is a PIP command. So, it's pretty easy. It is a one liner."
"Ansible Tower provides a GUI, which is an enhancement, and a well-liked feature by operation teams."
"The most valuable features of the solution are automation and patching."
"Ansible provides great reliability when coupled with a versioning system (git). It helps providing predictability to the network by knowing exactly what's being pushed after validating it in production."
"This solution allows us to stitch a lot of different parts of the workflow together."
"The most valuable feature is that Ansible is agentless."
"The installation is easy."
"The solution offers so many great resources, it makes them a powerhouse in the market."
"It can use some more credential types. I've found that when I go looking for a certain credential type, such as private keys, they're not really there."
"When you set up Playbooks, I may have one version of the Playbook, but another member of the team may have a different vision, and we will not know which version is correct. We want to have one central repository for managing the different versions of Playbooks, so we can have better collaboration among team members. This is our use case for using Git version control."
"The scalability of the solution has some shortcomings."
"Additional features could be added."
"If we have a problem with some file and we need to get Red Hat to analyze the issue and the file is 100GBs, we'll have an issue since we need to provide a log file for them to analyze. If it is around 12GB or 13GB, we can easily upload it to the Red Hat portal. With more than 100GBs, it will fail. I heard it should cover up to 250GB for an upload, however, I find it fails. Therefore, Red Hat needs to provide a way to handle this."
"The solution requires some Linux knowledge."
"Accessibility. Ansible uses a CLI by default. Those accustomed to it can find their way and adopt the YAML files easily over time. But, some users are more comfortable using UIs..."
"Performance has been an issue on larger environments, but it has gotten a lot better over the past two years."
"The price could be a bit lower."
"We did not like SolarWinds because it was not able to communicate between UPSA and our accounting system. They should have better integration."
