We performed a comparison between Amazon EC2 and AWS Lambda based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Compute Service solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."EC2 is flexible when we need to increase its resources (memory, boosting, and storage) based on our usage. That is the power of EC2."
"The amount of bandwidth has been most valuable."
"The product helps us with scalability. We also need not have data centers."
"We find it easy to scale."
"The ethernet configuration is stable and the product is reliable."
"There's a lot of encryption across the setups to ensure that database credentials and everything related to security are well managed."
"The flexibility of the security features is what is interesting."
"EC2 has the typical advantages of using the cloud. It's easy to provision and set up."
"The most valuable features are event-based triggers. They're really good for a reactive style when you want things to happen as soon as something else happens."
"This product is easy to use."
"It is easy to use."
"The installation and configuration of the solution is straightforward."
"The solution works for small applications. It is a serverless tool that is quick to spin up. We needn’t consider anything in the bag."
"The main features of this solution are the ability to integrate multiple AWS applications or external applications very quickly and organize all of them. Additionally, it is easy to use and you can run various programming languages, such as Python, Go, and Java."
"AWS Lambda has improved our productivity and functionality."
"The ability to scale up and down very quickly helps because we can maintain our system performance and business at a low cost."
"Lacks sufficient tools to help users minimize their costs."
"The price could be better, and it could be more affordable. Because I run my own servers, the prices are quite high."
"Accessibility must be improved."
"My impression is that the scalability of this product could be improved. My opinion is that, for example, the Lambda solution is much more scalable than EC2."
"Support doesn't share or give insights on OS-based issues. That needs to improve because if someone is buying an EC2 instance with the Windows server and SQL license, the client expects that there will be a minimum level of support."
"Currently in the autoscaling process if we have multiple issues we are not able to connect some of the VPC through the SMS."
"Pricing-wise, it is a bit high."
"EC2 is a little expensive."
"There are sometimes issues following an update."
"I would like the layers to have a bigger volume. I would like to be able to add more. I don't want to be limited by the layer."
"The price in general could always be better."
"AWS Lambda's GUI could be improved with a twist or tweak in its look and feel to make it more impressive."
"I have seen some drawbacks with certain integrations."
"If you're running a new application with a significant load, you need to be prepared for potential bottlenecks."
"Another challenge I've noticed is that there is a limit to the environment variables such as the 4 KB limit. Although, the advice is to use parameters or other things to store the details when the limit has exceeded the data, this adds additional intensity to the application. If the size limits for environment variables can be revealed, it would be helpful. Even if we have to pay for it, at least we would know that we are not dealing with latency. So, I would like to see the size of the environment variables increased."
"Lambda's dashboard could be more user-friendly and customizable. I want the dashboard to have more information to quickly identify what functions and events are running. Also, we want to be able to add more trigger points, push notifications, and events."
Amazon EC2 is ranked 3rd in Compute Service with 60 reviews while AWS Lambda is ranked 1st in Compute Service with 70 reviews. Amazon EC2 is rated 8.6, while AWS Lambda is rated 8.6.
