It was basically up to the technician who did it last, and you never knew if they saved a copy or not. "The first feature that I appreciate is the topology drawing in real time. If our NOC wants to troubleshoot, they can go to the topology map and see that this access point is connected to that switch via that specific port. And when something changes in the topology, it's dynamically updated."
"Auvik is phenomenal at network monitoring as well as for other functionalities such as remote access or backups. A really cool feature that it has is that it takes a backup of all of the configurations automatically. Auvik periodically, most probably on a daily basis, logs into all the switches and firewalls that you have on-site to see if there is a change, and when there is a change, it does a new backup of the device. It logs changes for you. If you start experiencing some issues, you can go back to those logs to say, "Oh, there is a change made last week, Thursday," and with Auvik, you can just roll back to that snapshot nicely and quickly."

We have integrated our ideas and tools with OpsRamp, so alerts are generated, then we notify the customers. That's the main feature we like about OpsRamp because we don't have to monitor each resource. Instead, OpsRamp does the monitoring for us, and it generates the alerts based on the thresholds."

"The actual adding of networks, systems, and everything like that is fairly easy, but the problem that I have is getting the metrics out. Specifically, if you go to the Auvik webpage, sign in, and go through the alerts and everything else, they don't offer any plasma display with a red light, green light, or stop light indicating this device is in an error state, down, etc. To get around this, we have to use their API. I had to code an entire interface to work around that lack of information."
"Something else I would like to see would be additional vendors for the hardware life cycle. Right now, they mainly focus on Cisco stuff, which is fine, but not every customer we have uses Cisco."
"The map would be the first thing I would like to see improved because sometimes the maps get really odd-looking and the automated placement of things on the map, devices on the map is sometimes not right. In fact, I was just looking at the map and something got moved. I'm sure it didn't get moved, it's just that Auvik realized it was supposed to go somewhere else. So the map could be better if there was a little bit of manual manipulation that you could do."

"The price shouldn't be an issue for a larger organization, but a smaller organization or an MSP might struggle because the billing is per device. You're paying for your firewalls and devices that appear on the network. If you have a smaller organization with an extensive network, your revenue won't be able to support that cost. That's probably the biggest downside for me."
"For the most part, it's great for visualizing the network mapping/topology for our organization. However, when complex VLAN networks are involved, sometimes, the picture can get a little cloudy. It would definitely be nice if there was some way of choosing a VLAN to view or something like that. They should definitely improve the handling of multiple networks and VLANs."
"Onboarding devices could be easier. When you first add a device to the Auvik platform, you need to add each one by hand. It would be nice if they could automate the process where we only need to run a script."
"The Auvik network map and dashboard are not reliable enough to provide a real-time view of our network."
"We have 55 AVDs, and patches might roll out to 32-35 initially, with the rest taking a month or so. OpsRamp can't detect them all directly. Since clients want patches applied as soon as possible, we manually patch those remaining devices."
"The user interface of this product requires some changes as it is not inclusively user-friendly. For example, the performance indicators are color-based , which means that they are confusing for anyone who is color blind."

"What's lacking in OpsRamp is process automation, and if there is, I wish there could be more of it, other than just spikes, or it would be better if the alerts can be generated based on different matrices. That option is absent in OpsRamp at the moment, and it would be valuable if that could be provided in the solution, especially if there's any kind of security issue in the VM."
