Find out what your peers are saying about Netgate, Fortinet, OPNsense and others in Firewalls."One of the nice things about FortiGate is that it can be deployed on the cloud or on-premises. You can actually do both. That's the biggest reason why I stick with this solution as opposed to something like Cisco Meraki. Another nice thing is that I can log directly into a FortiGate or get to it through their FortiCloud access products. They're pretty reliable and consistent. One of the reasons why I started using the product was their single pane of management. I can deploy their line of firewalls in conjunction with their switching and access points, and I can manage the entire network from one interface. I don't have to log into one interface for the firewall, another one for the access points, and another one for the switches. These firewalls have access point controller functionality built right into the system, so I don't even have to purchase additional devices to manage them."
"Their interface is very easy to use, it is without bugs."
"The most valuable feature is the policy routing and application control."
"It is a good source for firewall protection."
"One of the valuable features is a standardized OS."
"The GUI is good."
"Centralized monitoring, policy management, and virtualized appliances allow us to take control over our public and private infrastructure."
"The solution is very user friendly. The user interface in particular is quite nice."
"The configuration was kind of straightforward from the command line and also from the ASDM. It was very easy to manage by using their software in Java."
"Web filtering is a big improvement for us. The previous version we used, the AC520, did not have that feature included. It was not very easy for us, especially because the environment had to be isolated and we needed to get updates from outside, such as Windows patches. That feature has really helped us when we are going outside to pull those patches."
"My confidence continues to build upon using Cisco firewalls."
"It is a secure product."
"I have not contacted technical support. There is a lot of information on the internet for troubleshooting. All you need to do is use a search engine and you will find the information you are looking for easily."
"I have integrated it for incidence response. If there is a security event, the Cisco firewall will automatically block the traffic, which is valuable."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to block almost all of the ports."
"I like its integration with the AnyConnect client. I also like how modular it is. For example, I can easily integrate the Umbrella add-on into it. We are planning on adding Umbrella. We haven't added it yet, but we have researched."
"The solution is very easy to download and configure. The initial setup was very easy. The technical support is very good."
"Fortinet already improved FortiGate, but in the current market, many brands of security devices have improved together. Fortinet still needs to catch up with market standards. Fortinet is lacking in features in comparison to competitors."
"Bandwidth usage in reporting could be improved for Fortinet FortiGate."
"One area for improvement is the performance on the bandwidth demands for smaller devices, as well as better web filtering."
"Technical support is good but the response time could be faster."
"Its reporting and pricing need improvement."
"It should provide better visibility over the network and more information in the form of reports for the end users. Its installation should also be easier."
"The support structure needs to be improved because every time we contact them, there is a delay in the response."
"Its filtering is sometimes too precise or strict. We sometimes have to bypass and authorize some of the sites, but they get blocked. We know that they are trusted sites, but they are blocked, and we don't know why."
"You shouldn't have to use the ASDM to help manage the client."
"FirePOWER does a good job when it comes to providing us with visibility into threats, but I would like to see a more proactive stance to it."
"When we're looking at full-stack visibility, it can be difficult to get the right information out of Firepower."
"It would be nice if you didn't have to configure using a command-line interface. It's a bit technical that way."
"Cisco Secure Firewall’s customer support could be improved."
"It doesn't have a proper GUI to do troubleshooting, so most people have to rely on the command line."
"I would like the ability to drill down into certain reports because currently, that cannot be done."
"The scalability has room for improvement."
"The solution needs more granular level reporting on system usage."
