We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Bookmarking is very good because they are synchronized across all devices.""The solution has been stable.""Chrome Enterprise is really easy to deploy and manage.""The initial setup is straightforward.""Google Chrome Enterprise is a stable solution with good performance.""The solution's most valuable feature is its browser, which offers good performance.""Chrome functions as a comprehensive solution due to its continuous self-evaluation and improvement. The evolution process has been significant, with a notable distance covered from its inception to the present. Notably, features like VPN support have been incorporated over time, enhancing the platform's capabilities. A distinctive feature is that users don't even need to know the Wi-Fi password; upon signing into the machine, internet connectivity is established immediately. Furthermore, the cloud storage system ensures data isn't stored locally, making it seamless for users to switch between machines. In summary, Google Chrome Enterprise is an excellent solution, particularly when there's a shortage of available manpower.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."

"Open architecture allows for accelerated growth while secure repositories guarantee stability.""I like its integrations. I would put it higher than any other Linux version when it comes to availability. Its integrations with different applications and solutions are the best. We work with a lot of clients that use RHEL, and we could easily and quickly integrate any cloud solution, virtualization solution, storage solution, or software with the RHEL system. It is better than the other solutions we have worked with.""It's a rock-solid operating system. We don't need anything fancy from the operating system itself. What we need is something that doesn't crash, stays up to date, and provides the security features that we need to keep external players out.""One of the most valuable aspects is the ease of installing packages on the server.""The integrated solution approach reduces our TCO tremendously because we are able to focus on innovation instead of operations.""The solution is very stable, reliable, easy to use, and has good technical support.""There are some nice integrations with scanning for vulnerabilities. That is the feature I have enjoyed the most because I am a security person, and that is my bread and butter.""Support is most valuable. If a customer has a problem with a feature or a bug, we can open a support case for that, and the issue is resolved or taken care of. That's the main benefit of the product."

Cons
"Identifying areas for improvement can be challenging since Chrome consistently strives to enhance itself. One aspect I'd like to highlight is virtualization. For instance, if you require desktop-based applications like Cisco or Adobe products on your local machine, Chrome's support is limited. While they offer Linux solutions for virtualization, my query or request would be to expand this to include Windows-based applications. If this were implemented, it would be a valuable enhancement, encouraging broader adoption by companies.""Google Chrome Enterprise doesn't use AI in its solution.""In an upcoming release, the enhanced troubleshooting feature needs to improve to be able to identify the issues for the use case and for the user experience.""Chromebooks are hard to find in the Indonesian market.""The performance could be faster.""You still need to have a pretty good understanding of GCP to deploy it properly.""The tool is not very user-friendly.""The solution could be made cheaper."

"I would like training to be added to the subscription. It would be useful for when you have to train yourself or get a certification. There are many things that we are not using because we don't know how to use them. Having training included in the subscription would help us in learning more things and utilizing the full power of the solution.""Red Hat Insights are instrumental in identifying vulnerabilities. I am still learning, but my understanding is that it is not directly connected to your environment to deploy a patch or vulnerability fix. It is going to give a YAML playbook to do that. It does not actually execute it.""The default settings are confusing.""Right now, we need to get memory and CPU via the console.""The numerous links to different pages disrupt the flow of information and make it difficult to maintain focus.""This solution could be improved if it was easier to set up and run in cloud environments. It can also be costly to manage a large OpenShift environment.""The vulnerability assessment part should also be improved. We do a lot of patching regularly. They try to fix an issue very quickly, and we also end up facing bugs that are not properly documented. When releasing the general availability for a particular solution, they need to do a lot more work on their side.""We need to have more flexibility on the developed versions. Not everybody is ready to subscribe to enterprise versions. They would like to test the tool without subscriptions."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We are on a monthly subscription for this solution."
  • "So all I can say is just for us since we just recently re-upped our three-year contract for Google Education Enterprise, whatever the name is for their highest level enterprise...I found the pricing to be pretty reasonable overall."
  • "Google Chrome Enterprise is a medium-priced solution."
  • "Pricing varies significantly based on different regions and specific requirements. The cost can differ for the Euro price as opposed to the Asia-specific price. Generally, the standard pricing falls within the range of twenty-five to thirty dollars per license. This payment can be structured on a monthly or yearly basis. Opting for the yearly payment plan often comes with an added discount, either directly from Google or through negotiations with your vendor."
  • "Yearly payments are to be made towards the licensing costs of Google Chrome Enterprise. It is not an expensive solution. I rate the solution's pricing model a six out of ten. There is a need to pay an extra cost in addition to the solution's standard licensing fees."
  • "The product price is very good in my opinion."

  • "The pricing is a bit on the expensive side, mainly because of the support they provide. However, it is quite affordable if you are an organization. If, as a small company or individual, this is an expensive option, I would recommend CentOS, which is an exact replica of RHEL, minus the customer support."
  • "In terms of the solution’s single subscription and install repository for all types of systems, we can have as many RHEL installations as we want because we have a specific subscription that entitles us to have as many RHEL services as we want. We pay for a subscription and with that we get RHEL and Satellite as well."
  • "Red Hat Linux is inexpensive. Linux solutions are generally inexpensive."
  • "RHEL is expensive."
  • "Because it is a subscription, you can go elastic. This means you can buy a year, then you can skip a year. It is not like when you buy something. You don't buy it. You are paying for the support on something, and if you don't pay for the support on something, there is no shame because there are no upfront costs. It changes the equation. However, we have such growth right now on the Linux platform that we are reusing and scavenging these licenses. From a business standpoint, not having to buy, but just having to pay for maintenance, changes a lot of the calculations."
  • "We have a site license on a yearly basis. Generally, we're okay with its price, but everything could be cheaper."
  • "The licensing with Red Hat is on par with other organizations like Microsoft. We have a site license, which gives us a certain number of servers, perhaps 25,000, for the type of license that we have. That works really well for us."
  • "We are an educational institution and as such, what we pay is less than the average company."
