We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Overall stability is very good. It is a very stable solution.""Pure FlashArray X NVMe will quickly overcome all the hurdles you face, including network and latency issues.""The standout features for us in Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its robust DDoS protection, seamless transparent failover, and failback capabilities ensuring high availability.""The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use.""We're able to get higher-density workloads on the same infrastructure, and we have a smaller physical footprint. The performance is excellent – during our test the bottlenecks are never on the X array, it just keeps picking up the pace to match what you need. The real-time visibility is a differentiator in my opinion.""The most valuable features of Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its superior performance compared to other flash tiers, as well as its ease of use, with an intuitive user interface that is simple to deploy and use.""Offers excellent features like efficient data reduction, a reliable SafeMode, and a great support model for continuous assistance and updates.""The most valuable features of this solution are its ease of use and performance."

"The high performance of flash storage is especially valuable to us.""Hitachi's technical support is perfect.""It's best features are its reliability and stability.""It is very flexible, and it is very useful when you want to virtualize different storage from different vendors.""It is the most stable high-end solution in this area.""The product's reliability has been crucial for our company's operations.""Data optimization, compression, and deduplication are the most important features for us.""The product provides a good storage space."

Cons
"The software layer has to improve.""They could add more support for file storage and different types of storage.""You cannot tag a LUN with a description, and that should be improved. What I like on the Unity side is that when I expand LUNs or do things, there is an information field on the LUN. This is the Information field that you can tag on your LUNs to let yourself know, "Hey, I've added this much space on this date". Pure lacks that ability. So, you don't have a mechanism that's friendly for tracking your data expansions on the LUN and for adding any additional information. That's a downside for me.""We would like to see VNC integration or be able to use Pure Storage with VNC.""We've seen that when we create a POD in synchronous mode, it increases the latency.""The tool's pricing is higher than competitors.""Many options to check performance, like read, writes, random writes, and random reads, are missing in Pure FlashArray X NVMe.""It is on the expensive side."

"The life-cycle of the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G Series is too short. We only had approximately four or five years out of the solution before it was rendered its end of life.""In terms of what could be improved, it could use a better, faster web console and other consoles. It is so boring waiting, waiting and waiting for it to refresh.""The pricing is high, but the product is good. Additional features like data duplication might make it even better.""In the next version I would like to see additional features like artificial intelligence and an increase in the amount of data it can store.""One problem is that there are too many management tools for the F Series and for all the other Hitachi storage systems. There are four or five such solutions. Maybe these could be combined in the future.""At the moment, I don't see any room for improvement in Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G Series because my experience with the product is very good. The software is okay and you can manage the storage well. What I'd like to see in the next release of Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G Series is for it to be a real NAS solution because right now, you need to use a Hitachi converter called HNAS which makes the process a little bit more expensive. In my opinion, Hitachi should look into the possibility of unifying the HNAS into full storage, meaning that the HNAS should be integrated into the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G Series.""We moved away from this product because we were looking for an all-flash solution, and with our G1500 at the time, perhaps two years ago, they were just proposing more of the same technology.""The embedded management for installation feature has neither simplified nor complicated the management process, therefore, there is room for improvement."

More Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform Cons →

"There is room for improvement in simplifying the overall complexity of the environment.""The graphical user interface is somewhat outdated, lacking some of the modern features found in other solutions.""The solution's support duration or end-of-support life is very short."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."

  • "The pricing we get is very competitive when compared to other vendors. Hitachi is working on their licensing model and it is improving but can be irksome when many different items are not bundled or enterprise size."
  • "Our main issue with the Hitachi G-Series is what we consider to be an archaic software licensing scheme and high maintenance costs."
  • "It is a little expensive."
  • "I would like to see better pricing and more discounts."
  • "Pricing could be better, because the cost is very high."
  • "This solution is cheaper than Dell EMC VMAX. When you are looking for a high-end solution, price matters, but availability and stability are more important than the price."
  • "This is an expensive solution."
  • "When you are looking for high-end solutions such as this, price is less important than stability and availability."

  • "Hitachi VSP E Series is an expensive solution."
  • "The pricing is fair, with additional costs for support services."
