"The apply rules feature saves a lot of time.""This solution has a self-healing handler where if the service is down, it is automatically restarted.""The best thing about the solution is how it highlights errors, the issues, and what needs my attention. The solution directs me to areas that I should look for first.""Icinga does the job and is fairly stable.""We have found the solution to be stable.""There's a module called Icinga Director, which helps us configure the product using an intuitive interface through clicks instead of creating a text configuration. It's very helpful for us.""An affordable solution for small organizations to do basic network monitoring.""The value of Icinga is that it has hundreds of plugins, so it's really easy to monitor pretty much anything."

More Icinga Pros →

"We value the auto-host discovery, template import, bulk import/export features. Newer versions also add nice features, such as multi-IP per host.""I'm supervising all the IT departments, and Zabbix seems quite good for them. It provides graphics and information in real time. We get alerts about crashes on the system, enabling us to quickly repair issues. We can easily find devices with problems.""The solution's design has recently changed and it is visually pleasing with more color, for example, there is blue, black, and white.""The most valuable feature is monitoring.""The initial setup, while not simple, is easier than other products.""The solution is open-source, easy to manage, and user-friendly making it easy for anyone to use.""Setup was straightforward. Initial deployment took two or three months.""During my testing, the features that I like the most are that it can be integrated with my system, and it provides me with reports of all of my servers."

Cons
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"The installation and configuration are very complex.""The solution lacks many features important to higher-level IT management and network support.""It needs Trap SNMP. I saw the documentation for Zabbix, that it has its own built-in product which handles SNMP traps, and there's nothing similar in Icinga or Nagios. I think this feature is most important for me.""One of the areas that are frustrating is remote monitoring for more than one machine.""The tool currently fails to provide notifications to users.""In general, the product does not look good. However, it does what it is supposed to do. So, the improvements should focus on usability and UI.""The user interface should be improved.""One thing that Icinga lacks is the capability to create advanced and customized dashboards within the tool itself."

More Icinga Cons →

"The reports are not great and should be improved.""I would like to see a more flexible mobile client, and better HA out of the box.""The documentation gets a bit messy between versions and is not too detailed, which is a bit painful for first-timers, especially when they run into issues.""The dashboard and the graph section could be a little bit more professional.""Having a more customizable interface and dashboard would be an improvement.""Zabbix can use better documentation and support for troubleshooting.""There are a lot of areas for improvement, specifically in the dashboards and reports functionalities.""In the next release, I'm hoping for features targeted towards larger users with more customizable options. Despite this, I think pre-canned reports that can be used straight out of the box would be beneficial rather than having to configure each report individually. Additionally, a deeper dive into software configurations on the machines would be useful, although I understand there may be challenges in implementing this due to scripting requirements. More documentation would also be appreciated."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
