Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution is quick with analysis and calculation. The tool offers high digitalization which helps us to run the controlling department with less number of people. If the software wasn't there, I would need two to three people extra to run the department.""The data entry point is most valuable. The way we can customize our report or do data entry is very good.""The customer porting is the most valuable feature.""The ETL function simplifies many tasks.""We can configure and have complete freedom while creating solutions.""The solution is very versatile.""The ease of reporting is one of Jedox's most valuable features.""We use the tool for performance management and planning."

"The drill-down capabilities and automatic charts are the best ones. The visualization is also very good. In terms of visualization, no competing product, such as IBM Cognos or any other product, has the same capabilities.""I like all the tools in Microsoft BI because they all have different purposes. There are a lot of people using Microsoft BI, and everybody is using it. The users have adapted well to the technology.""In my experience the scalability is good. You are able to increase users and add more data.""There are some great automation elements in the product.""It seems stable. I haven't heard of any difficulties from my clients that utilize Power BI.""The good part of it is that you can do whatever you want with it when it comes to building BI. In terms of languages, it supports Python, and it also natively supports R.""Being able to transfer data with the Power Query feature is great for teaching with about one to two hundred rows of data. I am also able to see the relationship between multiple tables and create various sheets and dashboards.""PowerBi is used to import our production data and generate dashboards, then integrates other Excel sheets to provide managers dashboards. This helps them get insights to make better OEE improvement decisions, mainly where to focus resources. We became able to see indicators from any time frame (day, week, month, or year), then could make better decisions."

Cons
"Online pixel-perfect reporting is an aspect that has room for improvement.""More emphasis is needed on the availability of the learning aspect of the solution. Because unless you take up their course that enables you to be an expert in creating the report, you must seek help.""There is not much training for Jedox.""Jedox should improve the design and server issues.""The solution needs to improve its support. The visualization in Microsoft BI is more modern and comfortable than Jedox's. I would expect something similar with the solution.""I think it's the design of the report because the design and the UI for the report is standard and lame. When you see a Jedox report, it doesn't seem like it's from today, because the technology is something from the last decade. The scalability needs improvement.""There is room for improvement in the scalability. It is a very massive tool. It's not easy to just build everything yourself.""From a development perspective, there's room for improvement in the area called the designer, where you actually build your reports to make it easier to manage the process."

More Jedox Cons →

"The admin view could be improved by making it more simplified to manage a users' activity and other things.""Needs single sign-on.""The solution could improve the extraction and transformation of data. For example, you transform the data and then send it to Microsoft BI without having to use your own API. We are only providing the API to Power BI, and then Power BI is doing the job.""I would like it to be a little bit more secure when I'm using the design feature on my desktop. For example, to have the ability to set up security passwords for opening the file. Currently, they don't have that. Tableau, for example, has a visual way of doing data processing steps, whereas the Power BI system still has some code, although it is very low code. It would be great to have the kind of view that Tableau has.""The Power Query feature needs to be improved to handle large amounts of data. This feature is also slow for large data transfers making it better to use some kind of script.""Technical support could be a bit better.""My data is restricted to my DB and I'm not sure how this would handle an extremely large dataset.""There is no specific area that I have a problem with. It's just that, with whatever feature you come across, every visual has its own formatting and behavior. What you get in one visual for a feature, you don't seem to get in another."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "If you are using SAP, then you will have to take an SAP Connector license. The license across the tool is paying for the people who are using it as an admin or as a normal user. They can work out those costs in a manner that can help. This can also be a point of improvement where they can work out the costing, and the developers have a specific licensing cost. The normal users, who are going to do probably data entry or just going to view the dashboard, can have a separate license cost."
  • "We paid a one-time fee, which included product purchase, licensing, and first-time implementation. We are paying for the maintenance regularly."
  • "Excellent value for money."
  • "The solution's pricing is specific to your requirements."
  • "The product’s pricing will not be suitable for setting up a small solution."
  • "Jedox was a bit cheaper compared to Calumo."

  • "There is room for at least 45% discount as compared to the initial price."
  • "MS BI comes with all the tools and it is, to the best of my knowledge, the most affordable solution."
  • "All in all, for the price, this is an excellent tool for helping your organization turn mounds of data into useful insights."
  • "I would advise that Microsoft BI products are rightly priced and the licensing is easy to follow and to fulfill."
  • "Remove the cost of a licence to show a dashboard within SharePoint. Why should readers of a dashboard have to pay to view? "
  • "Make it low in cost. It is a no-brainer!"
  • "Globally, we evaluated a number of products, including Salesforce's product, Microsoft won on the ground of simple functionally and cost."
  • "Paid for itself in the first month."
