We performed a comparison between NAKIVO Backup & Replication and Veritas Backup Exec based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Backup and Recovery solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The product is good for protecting very low-budget offices, whereas other solutions fail in terms of cost and footprint of the VMs involved."
"The most important feature besides the easy management of the different backup jobs is the automated e-mail notification functionality."
"Nakivo offers direct support through the graphical interface and this is great to have if you need quick help."
"It was also very easy to configure backups to be sent offsite to a separate repository for disaster recovery needs."
"Nakivo Backup and Replication's web-based management interface enables intuitive, rapid, and seamless configuration and management of all backup and recovery functionality across the enterprise."
"The most valuable feature is the support, as it is directly from Nakivo and it is possible to send a support request that contains all of the technical data on the environment, as well as the software, required for the answer."
"Technical support responds very quickly."
"The solution has a user-friendly interface and is easy to configure."
"It is a scalable product."
"The product provides automated and faster data backup and recovery compared to other vendors."
"The implementation is straightforward."
"It is a good backup tool."
"We are satisfied with the stability of the product."
"The interface, dashboard, and pricing are all perfect."
"Setting up Backup Exec is straightforward. It took less than two weeks to get it up and running. You need maybe two people at most if you have a Veritas-certified engineer."
"The solution is very scalable. Whenever we grew, it was just a matter of adding new licenses, so it's easy to grow."
"The only thing we have encountered that we would like to see improved in the future are error messages. They could be more detailed and helpful, without the need to send logs to support. Failing that, the part of the log related to the error could be displayed alongside the error message, so I can investigate the error without looking through all of those logs that I'm able to download."
"Due to the fact that we are HP and Fugit partners as well, it would be nice if Nakivo would allow support for HP and Fugit storage."
"Updating VM Tools on a replicated VM could be better."
"It would be helpful to be able to have a custom footprint so that only the required features are installed."
"In terms of what could be improved for the next release, I would probably answer better documentation and licensing models."
"Nakivo's implementation documentation could use a little beefing up."
"UI could use some upgrades. The UI is basic, but functional."
"I need no more valuable features for backs-up. I have not yet tried the latest release, however, I have all the features that I need."
"Initial setup is a bit complex and needs some expertise for troubleshooting when something goes wrong."
"It could provide better ease of management than one of its competitors."
"It is currently missing the dynamic backup feature for virtual machines, which is available in NetWorker. I can create politics in NetWorker to add virtual machines with specific tags, but I cannot do this in Backup Exec, which is a minus point for me. Currently, a user has to send a request to the Backup administrator to add a machine to the backup, but I should be able to create rules to automatically add a new machine to the backup. This kind of functionality is very important in current times, especially when we are using cloud solutions. I should be able to create more than one stream in a policy and specify how many streams I want to run in parallel in one policy. Currently, I have to manually create more policies to backup more than one virtual machine at the same time. Their support can also be improved in terms of response time."
"Currently, the solution does not have the capability to restore a single mailbox, so you lose a lot of time having to restore for example ten mailboxes just to recover one."
"Veritas Backup Exec should improve by having a user portal that customers can use."
"Veritas Backup Exec should be more user-friendly. The costs should also be much lower and it should be easier to go through the disaster recovery process."
"Expanding is difficult because if I want to add, for example, a terabyte of data, then I have to buy a disk shelf and it will cost me a lot."
"Veritas Backup Exec's support services could be faster."
