We performed a comparison between Skybox Security Suite and Tenable Nessus based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Vulnerability Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Aside from Firewall Assurance, we are using Network Assurance and Change Manager for an overview of the whole network and for documenting requests and the recertification of the ruleset."
"Overall, the tool has helped us reduce risks. If any step is missing, it's easier for my team or engineers to identify it. The tool provides accurate recommendations based on the data. Its integration is easy, and I have integrated it with Fortinet firewalls."
"The most valuable features are Firewall Assurance and Vulnerability Control."
"We use Network Assurance for network visualisation and troubleshooting."
"It can be integrated with a vulnerability management solution. When a client comes, apart from pitching network and firewall change management, we are recommending having vulnerability management. So, rather than just having the audit of the firewall, they can integrate it with their vulnerability management solution, which could be Rapid7, Qualys, or any other solution. This provides them the most value out of the platform. That is the way we are approaching our customer base."
"The most impressive feature is optimization and clean-up."
"The ability to appropriately prioritize vulnerabilities inside the environment, and then to have visibility into the traffic and rule sets of an organization, are two of the top capabilities that I recommend. Skybox is the only one that does both of those in a single platform."
"The performance could be good because we chose it at the time, but it is too complex for us to appreciate its performance because we lack the necessary skills."
"The initial setup is very straightforward."
"Overall Zoom is a good solution."
"I find the features that are most valuable are the policies that help us identify the vulnerabilities. These policies are then used for scanning instabilities and then identifying the particular vulnerabilities."
"The results are not that bad, but the key selling point is that it is an affordable tool set."
"The reports are pretty nice and easy to understand."
"Tenable Nessus is cheap and flexible."
"The solution is the most dynamic one I have seen thus far."
"Makes ransomware checking and OS auditing and implementation relatively easy."
"The primary room for improvement would be to enable a web interface, which is not something which is there in the product. This is supposed to have come a year, a year and a half ago, but still has failed to come out. It still needs a client application to be installed on a workstation to be able to access that server and then run these reports. So I cannot extend that access to anybody. It has to be one administrator all the time. So unlike a web interface, where you can give multiple users simultaneous access and generate the various reports, that isn't a possibility at the moment."
"The price is costly, and I hope they can reduce the cost."
"There is room for improvement in the technical support."
"It's expensive."
"The initial setup with Skybox Security is hard. You need one or two strong security engineers on your team."
"The tool does not offer options for customization."
"The support could be improved."
"The most recent update was not tested with all of the vendors before it was released, so some of the features are misbehaving."
"It wasn't very clear how the scripts are running the scans. There's information about the script but it's not straightforward. The script information for each of the plugins should be available, but it doesn't give us straightforward direct information about how it was executed. That needs to be more clear."
"The report for counters is too simple and would be improved by a dashboard."
"The accuracy of the vulnerability assessment is not up to par yet, as false alarms and false positives occur often."
"I would like to have a management option after the network scanning."
"The professional version is not very scalable."
"The product must be more comprehensive."
"There should be a possibility to install agents on scanned machines. Tenable IO provides the capability of using local agents to check local problems, but this feature is not there in Tenable Nessus Professional. It would be nice to have something similar in Tenable Nessus Professional. We should have the capability to use local agents installed on the machines to locally check a problem."
"Tenable Nessus could improve reporting and information sharing. It would be helpful if we could share the reports and have a little bit better flexibility in the reporting of the data."
