Pros
"The solution is stable and reliable.""Splunk APM has helped us to standardize logging and monitoring procedures.""The most valuable features are troubleshooting and optimizing application performance.""Detectors are a powerful feature.""I like the fact that Splunk APM makes it easy to connect to the application database and run queries against the data.""The most valuable feature is dashboard creation.""The features are pretty much ready out of the box.""The most beneficial aspect of Slunk APM is the ATM, which is the map displaying the inbound and outbound relationships of the microservices, as well as the traffic between these dependencies. This feature provides us with valuable insights and helps us understand the interactions between different microservices."

"The features I found most valuable are the user interface and a wide range of network devices that are easy to configure.""Zabbix is very easy to implement.""It has an intuitive UI with beautiful graphs and customizable maps.""Health and communication links availability.""The solution is quite mature and very stable.""It provides high scalability, alerting, notification, templating, and end-to-end security.""The initial setup, while not simple, is easier than other products.""The most valuable feature is service assurance."

Cons
"The monitoring of workloads when using SignalFx could be improved.""There are some predefined metrics.......we may want to create customized metrics.""The licensing model is expensive. We need to monitor the amount of data ingested because the cost is based on the data collected.""Splunk APM should include a better correlation between resources and infrastructure monitoring.""We currently lack log analysis capabilities in Splunk APM.""Splunk APM's performance could be improved - at the moment, it's very slow and takes forever to give me what I want.""It is essential for the monitoring tool to deliver quick response times when generating analytical reports, instead of prolonged delays.""The UI enhancements could be a way to improve the solution in the future."

More Splunk APM Cons →

"The dashboard and the graph section could be a little bit more professional.""The user web interface is a little bit too basic, we need to link Zabbix to Grafana to have more options, such as graphs and charts. The interface needs to be improved. Additionally, there could be better integration with Grafana API.""Its UI should be improved. They did some improvements in version 5, but it could benefit from some more work. Its integrations should also be improved. They've been active for one year, and they seem to have noticed that. It has new integrations, but it could benefit from more integrations. As far as I know, there is no model to push statistics, metrics, or events towards Zabbix. This type of API isn't yet there, whereas some other tools provide an API for this.""One of the things we don't like is that Zabbix has a license structure with a price that is high compared to the competition. It's very high, for example, compared to something like Microsoft Teams.""Implementation is always tailored to the customer and the kind of information we need from the client to carry it out can make them very uncomfortable. Sometimes the clients are not ready to share it.""We would like to see the addition of automatic push functionality to this product. This would save time when monitoring our servers and networks as, at present, we have to manually install the Zabbix agent on any hardware to be monitored.""Sometimes, the documentation is a little bit written in Estonia – a country in Europe. The language barrier and translation to English can sometimes make it difficult to understand what they're trying to get at. It's just a language thing.""As far as improvements, sometimes I get a bit frustrated when I move from a previous version to a new one because some configuration has changed—I need to investigate the documentation to deal with some configuration. But it doesn't take much time, so it's okay."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
