Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The customers were looking for something around static security and dynamic security, and in all those areas, they were looking for an industry leader with a proven solution. Synopsys is a Gartner leader, so I position this particular technology for the technical pre-sales part of it."

"The most valuable feature is the remediation consulting that they give. I feel like any vendor can identify the flaws but fixing the flaws is what is most important. Being able to have those consultation calls, schedule them in the platform, and have that discussion with an applications expert, that process scales well and that is what has allowed a lot more reduction of risk to happen.""They also have what's called a Software Composition Analysis that can point out errors and fixes for third-party software frameworks, which is very nice.""I have found the user interface extremely helpful in prioritizing issues.""It's not "one policy fits all." I really like that Veracode allows me to set up specific policies that I can apply to applications.""The recommendations and frequent updates are the most valuable features of Veracode.""It helps me to detect vulnerabilities.""The Veracode technical support is very good. They are responsive and very knowledgeable.""Our development team use this solution for static code analysis and pen testing."

Cons
"The initial setup is a bit challenging because things are not easy. It needs a lot of technology adaptability plus the customer's environment-specific use cases."

More Synopsys Code Dx Cons →

"Veracode can be slow at times and has room for improvement, which may cause delays in our products and prolonged static scans.""Veracode doesn't really help you so much when it comes to fixing things. It is able to find our vulnerabilities but the remediation activities it does provide are not a straight out-of-the-box kind of model. We need to work on remediation and not completely rely on Veracode.""I would like to see improvement on the analytics side, and in integrations with different tools. Also, the dynamic scanning takes time.""The zip file scanning has room for improvement.""Software developers are always thinking about the next big thing but lose sight of what's happening right now. If you have an idea for a feature request, you must submit it to be voted on by the Veracode community. I don't like this. No one will look at it unless enough people vote for it.""Straightforward to set up, but the configuration of the rules engine is difficult and complicated.""Searching for applications in Veracode is a little bit difficult. We have to minimize the length of an application's name to 47 characters. It would be good if this limit could be increased so that an application's name can be properly reflected in Veracode.""Veracode would benefit greatly from more training resources. The videos are great, but I would like more hands-on training writing a script, validating a script with a unit test in a different language, etc. That's something that would be very valuable."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is more of an enterprise solution for budget-conscious customers. So, it's moderately priced. It's not for everybody."
  • More Synopsys Code Dx Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Its complexity makes it quite expensive, but it’s all worth it, with all the engineering in the background."
  • "The pricing is pretty high."
  • "The worst part about the product is that it does not scale at all. Also, microservices apps will cost you a fortune."
  • "I think licensing needs to be changed or updated so that it works with adjustments. Pricing is expensive compared to the amount of scanning we perform."
  • "It's worth the value"
  • "Pricing seems fair for what is offered, and licensing has been no problem. All developers are able to get the access they need."
  • "It can be expensive to do this, so I would just make sure that you're getting the proper number of licenses. Do your analysis. Make sure you know exactly what it is you need, going in."
  • "The licensing and prices were upfront and clear. They stand behind everything that is said during the commercial phase and during the onboarding phase. Even the most irrelevant "that can be done" was delivered, no matter how important the request was."
