Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"There is advanced management where we can do passing, software inventory, and hardware inventory.""The solution is stable and reliable.""One of the features I have found most valuable is the restore point - it gives us what we need at the time we need it. The important thing is that the backup for Acronis doesn't depend as much on the device.""It's a good solution that's very easy to use. Acronis has two valuable features. The first one is creating images, and the other is starting virtual machines in the cloud so the client can work immediately.""The most valuable features of Acronis Backup are cloning and many other capabilities. For example, you are able to clone the whole operating system and drive. Additionally, the solution is a complete package.""Acronis has a very rich functionality.""The web-based interface makes it easy to use.""All the necessary features required to set up a proper backup are already present in Acronis Backup."

"If you have an idea of what you are doing, it's very flexible and very stable.""The initial setup is straightforward if you understand Data Protector.""The command-line interface is user-friendly and well documented in the reference guide.""Data Protector is very good at automation. From the time of the backup, verification, and copy to tape, it is very good. I don't need to touch it, it will do it by itself.""Ability to automatically detect and secure new data sources without requiring manual configuration intervention.""The solution is easy to use.""The feature that was most valuable was that we could restore one mailbox and we could do different backups for different databases.""Backup of SAP/Oracle -- they are more robust than the competition."

Cons
"The solution's error handling can be improved specifically for Linux errors.""We would always support better pricing.""Acronis Backup can improve on the virtualization backups because they are not as good as Veeam Backup.""Acronis Backup has a straightforward initial setup process and an easy-to-use interface. However, a potential issue for Acronis partners is that registered partners do not have access to marketing materials, which can make it difficult for them to reach mass markets and sell the product. This could be improved by allowing registered partners to access marketing materials and tools, such as email templates, that would help them to promote Acronis Backup effectively.""For smaller companies it's a little more challenging to maintain.""I believe that the next release should be easier to configure as this one is difficult to configure even the easiest of tasks.""The whole product structure is confusing. You can actually get to do what you want to do. But Acronis seems to have a singular ability to make things difficult.""It could have a better ability to manage backups over a longer period."

More Acronis Cyber Protect Cons →

"I don't like this solution so much because it's very technical and compared to Commvault and Veeam, it's not so user-friendly. The interface needs improvement.""In general, you can say that Micro Focus Data Protector is behind in capabilities when compared with other backup solutions, such as Commvault, Symantec, NetBackup, but it is very strong for certain use cases such as array integration. We are using it in production even now. There should be some kind of cloud integration and archiving solutions. I think this is the area they need to focus on.""Integration with the market applications must be improved, such as MS Exchange, MS Active Directory, SAP and Oracle. Other backup tools are more efficient with the integrated backups.""The GUI could be updated. The GUI hasn't changed since version 6. It's on version 10 now. The reporting could also be better. Also, while Data Protector is excellent for backing up physical hardware, it needs more features for backing up VM images because many environments use hypervisor.""This solution is not scalable.""If you compare the solution with the same specific features and enhancements on another solution, Data Protector is expensive. This is especially true when compared to, for example, Veeam.""We're not satisfied with the robustness and stability of the software since Micro Focus took it in-house. The GUI is one thing they could improve. It's still a bit archaic. Data Protector needs a more functional, user-friendly GUI.""Virtualization."
