Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product is highly scalable.""The storage is most valuable. The gateway and documentation are also quite good.""I think Amazon AWS is easy to use, and it's a good service. I also like Amazon EKS because it's good.""It's very easy to use.""It has many choices of computer options, storage options, and even database options.""The solution scales very nicely.""We are mostly using EC2 compute and other resources. Most of our managed services are in AWS, which some of our clients prefer.""The installation is quite straightforward."

"It is easy to deploy applications, and we don't need to bother about software updates on the server. We don't need to bother about machines, servers, and hardware. We only need to care about the system and functionality that we need or want to develop. They take care of everything else. It provides high availability. It is a pretty good solution that provides everything that we need. It has everything that we need to run our applications. We have many different applications, and we generate three million bills for a company in Brazil. We see more than a billion requests per day in another application. Everything works just fine, and it is very good.""The most valuable feature of Heroku is the continuous integration and applications it provides.""The platform is very Node.js-friendly, which is something that is important to us.""I like the tool's scalability, CLI, and dashboards.""It's easy to push a change and to deploy new things.""Valuable for us was the fast deployment. This means the time to market is improved without pain for developers.""What I found most valuable about this solution is that it's easy to use and integrate with GitHub actions.""One of the best things about Heroku is that it is very easy and straightforward to deploy an application."

Cons
"As a result of the competency, I believe that most people are now leaning toward Azure rather than AWS.""There is a feature called Kinesis, which has to do with image processing. There are a few artificial intelligence tools that Amazon AWS should improve on.""Setup is somewhat complex.""One thing that Azure offers that I think is good is Migrate appliance. So, Azure has a migrate appliance that allows you to run against workloads to determine the cost, preparedness, and scalability. I haven't found a similar feature in AWS. That kind of service would be great on AWS too if you could point it to the data center.""The price needs improvement.""Some features may be better in Azure or some other portal. AWS could add some of those features.""If Amazon AWS can offer more self-paced learning tools, on their website, on CBT, it'll be easier for more people to familiarize themselves with their service. Especially when they are delivering new services from time to time. Educational tools that can help users familiarize themselves with their service. It would be great.""Instead of using some third-party solutions, Amazon should include them as part of its offering."

More Amazon AWS Cons →

"Their support is good, but they can improve their response time.""We would like to be notified when something goes wrong in the process. When something is not working, we should get an alert.""I improved the application performance by monitoring and adjusting the cleaner configuration to help set better lightweight limits on containers that run the app instances.""Heroku had an authentication problem a few months ago, but they solved it.""They could flesh out some of their analytics a little more.""I think this solution would be improved if free demos were available indefinitely.""We have to do daily restarts of some processes, which is annoying, and the support for custom CI could be better.""The tool's configuration is complex."

  • "If you can plan capacity for one or three years, you can use the upfront payment option which allows you to save up to 50%."
  • "One of the best thing in Amazon AWS is you are billed for the service you use."

Amazon Web Services, Rackspace OpenStack, Microsoft Windows Azure and Google are the major cloud hosting and storage service providers. Athough Amazon is top of them and is oldest in cloud market, Rackspace, Microsoft and Google are giving tough competition to each other and to Amazon also for alluring IT customers. This article give brief history of these cloud hosting service providers and compares the cloud services provided by them. -- Amazon Web Services -- It's hard to find someone who doesn't agree that Amazon Web Services is the market leader in IaaS cloud computing. The company has one of the widest breadths of cloud services - including compute, storage, networking, databases, load balancers, applications and application development platforms all delivered as a cloud service. Amazon has dropped its prices 21 times since it debuted its cloud six years ago and fairly consistently fills whatever gaps it has in the size of virtual machine instances on its platform - the company recently rolled out new high-memory instances, for example. There are some cautions for Amazon though. Namely, its cloud has experienced three major outages in two years. One analyst, Jillian Mirandi of Technology Business Researcher, has suggested that continued outages could eventually start hindering businesses' willingness to invest in Amazon infrastructure. That sentiment gets to a larger point about AWS though - the service seems to be popular in the startup community, providing the IT… Read more →
