We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"BOARD technical support is knowledgeable and helpful.""My favourite feature of BOARD is the ability to write back to the OLAP DB, as well as the Rdb, and secure user data allowing databases to be flushed and rebuilt daily.""Where it used to take me three days at the beginning of the year to create the new financial statement, now it is a matter of minutes because all the data is in the system.""What is very valuable is the ability to customize. We didn't see a solution out there that really matched exactly what our functional requirements would be. So we were able to work with New Brain, our integrator, and we were able to build from the ground up what we wanted, and I think that's pretty unique to BOARD.""The benefits are getting the data in one spot, the ability to report dynamically, and version control.""The drill down is good for people who have that high level view, because they can do some analysis based on it.""Our clients have improved a lot in terms of coordination and communication. This has improved their internal performance.""All staff can now see their relevant scorecards online."

"This solution provides a more structured methodology for doing analysis than a tool like Excel. It creates a central database that keeps all information in one place.""Oracle Hyperion is an engine allowing you to build whatever you want on it.""The implementation has been simplified now that it's deployed in the cloud. Also, Hyperion is tightly integrated with Oracle products because Oracle owns it now.""Oracle Hyperion has helped make things work faster in our company.""It's basically the same as the other budgeting solutions.""This is a customizable product. Our implementation was designed to fit our needs.""The most valuable features are those associated with modules and SP, IT in this space, planning, HFM, and PME.""The tool is very scalable and powerful. It helps us with financial reporting and performance reporting. It is a very good tool for consolidation and budgeting. We are dependent on it for reporting."

Cons
"I would like an eLearning platform for BOARD.""The setup was a bit complex.""If we could upload other data, e.g., pivot tables which can be done in BOARD already, that we have pre-existing and have that data distribute to more complex spreadsheets, I would like that going forward.""I would like to see a better Web client, where the controls work the same way as in the Windows client. I do think that the focus is now on the Web, so it should be improved upon.""We are looking for ways to distinguish zeros versus nulls in BOARD.""I'd like to see a more passive report user for enterprise report writers that aren't particularly technical.""The engine of the Board should be made powerful like the engine of IBM planning which is more powerful in terms of performance. The consolidated finance area also needs improvement.""It needs more export to Excel functionality. Right now, we're having to build within the cloud-based platform, as well as build within the Excel add-in, because the export to Excel is somewhat ugly."

More Board Cons →

"The level of complexity of the implementation is always a challenge.""This solution's stability is a little problematic.""All the planning systems out there are great. It doesn't matter which company you use. They're all great. I've seen demonstrations on a number of them, but it all boils down to the culture within the organization itself to use that functionality, understand it, and help drive it. I've had Oracle salespeople do demonstrations, and it looked really good. We get it on board, and everybody still sticks to their Excel spreadsheets because companies are a lot more complex than what you could deliver on the planning system. So, there should be more education on the capabilities, and there should be more understanding of organizations in terms of the way they access the data in order to plan.""Oracle EPM Cloud solutions have simplified the security model. Nevertheless, it would be better having a more differentiated security model.""Oracle Hyperion generally it's quite a complex architecture that is hard to maintain.""From a technical perspective, the technical support could be improved and the price could be reduced.""I have a problem with Hyperion when I need to log some changes in the budget. It's hard to know who made which changes in the budget.""I would like to see more integrations with third-party vendors such as BigSense and SAP. I'm looking forward to seeing more interface-related content."

  • "In terms of the pricing, it was reasonable. BOARD is not the lowest in the market, but it was reasonable for us."
  • "It is not the cheapest product on earth, but you get so much. It provides good value for money."
  • "The solution is quite expensive, if it is made cheaper then we can have more clients. I rate it four out of ten."
  • More Board Pricing and Cost Advice →
