We performed a comparison between Brocade Ethernet Switches and Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Ethernet Switches solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It has good integration with HPE Primera. They have smart zoning in which the administration is very easy. You don't have to do anything. Zoning and other things are done automatically if you just enable the smart zoning. That's one very good thing in HP."
"I have not had any issues with our Brocade switches."
"The most valuable feature of Brocade Ethernet Switches is the good range of access it provides."
"The initial setup was really straightforward and easy."
"There's a zone for each server and services in the storage."
"The reliability of Brocade is the most valuable feature. The solution has been up and running for over ten years without any fail, fixes required, or breakdowns. It is a very strong piece of equipment."
"The switches last for a very long time."
"The technical support is good."
"Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches is a stable solution."
"I am impressed with the tool's features like routing, Layer 2 security, and port security."
"The most valuable feature is stability."
"Cisco's product is excellent and highly stable with decades of experience in switching and technology. It's a top-notch solution when your entire network operates within the Cisco ecosystem, allowing for a wide range of capabilities. However, the challenge with Cisco lies in its prioritization. When integrating with third-party solutions, like Juniper, it can be somewhat challenging, but it still performs reasonably well. Setting up Cisco switches is not a straightforward process; it's complex and requires more than simply powering them on and figuring things out as you go. You need a solid understanding of switch and stack configuration because Cisco has its unique software features. Cisco excels in vendor lock-in, meaning that if you want to combine Cisco switches with non-Cisco functionality, it can be both time-consuming and costly. While Cisco offers the most extensive capabilities, it can also be less flexible and more challenging when you want to deviate from the Cisco ecosystem."
"The stability of the program is excellent."
"The most valuable features are virtualization and micro-segmentation."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"Manageable features, which we heavily used like web GUI and SNMP."
"There are some performance issues."
"Brocade Ethernet Switches need a better interface and centralized management."
"These switches are no longer supported."
"No graphical interface."
"It should be simpler. There are still some things that can be simpler in the Brocade switches."
"The solution could be more secure."
"Brocade Ethernet Switches could improve by having better compatibility with web management of older versions."
"The product’s price is a bit high."
"Cisco offers a wide range of features, and in the enterprise and mid-segment market in Europe, we make use of most of them. Some features are essential for our operations, while others may go unused. The feature set provided by Cisco is comprehensive, and there's little more we could ask for. It would be a nice addition if, in the future, Cisco switches could incorporate artificial intelligence to provide proactive feedback and guidance instead of having to search for solutions ourselves. This development is likely to come with time, and we'll patiently await such enhanced functionality."
"They need to develop better UI. Other products have a nice GUI."
"We'd prefer if the product, in general, was easier to use. It can be a bit difficult."
"Make them tougher and more ruggedized for warmer and Industrial types of environments, and HumiSeal the main boards and internal components."
"If possible, we'd like to see support in our country, but it will be difficult as we are located in Iran."
"It would be ideal if they could do more configurations and offer more flexibility. Right now, it's not flexible at all."
"The documentation should be improved from Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches. Although it hints or refers to being able to do certain operations, they try to get you to load the software instead. They need to be more open with their documentation on using the web interface and give the client the option to use the software or not. This improvement is not on the switch itself, it is in the packaging."
