We performed a comparison between Datadog and DX Spectrum based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Network Monitoring Software solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."
"We can handle debugging and find out why things are breaking in our applications."
"The integration into AWS is key as well as our software is currently bound to AWS."
"Datadog has given us near-live visibility across our entire cloud platform."
"We have way more observability than what we had before - on the application and the overall system."
"Using the data, our operation teams works with the dashboards to get their statistics, analytics, etc."
"Datadog has helped us a ton by allowing us to set up a multitude of easily configurable alarms across our tech stack and infrastructure."
"The network map is crucial in identifying bottlenecks and determining what needs more attention."
"The web app has a real-time support chat window in which a support engineer is chatting with you within a minute."
"It is easy to understand and determine when and/or where the network is failing."
"What I like best is the configuration management functionality."
"The most valuable feature is automatic discovery."
"Scalability is a highly rated feature of this solution. It is better than some of the other tools that I've used in terms of scalability. We scaled it to tens of thousands of devices."
"The granular access control that it provided so that you could only see devices that were related to what you were working on was great. I couldn't see the entire inventory of devices. I could only see the ones that were related to my work. It has got a very granular access control component."
"The most valuable feature is the event correlation mechanism."
"It has a high-quality graphical interface."
"The main thing is obviously notifications about alerts, getting ahead of the curve to make sure that we do not have system going down, or if it is down we get to know it earlier."
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."
"Datadog could make their use cases more visible either through their docs or tutorial videos."
"We'd like Datadog to make the log storage cheaper."
"I found the solution to be stable, I did not experience any bugs or glitches. However, some of the managing team did."
"I'm still exploring the trial version, and it is fine. One thing that I haven't been able to figure out is how to retrieve a report. This is something that could be improved. I probably need to navigate to a place to access the reports."
"I've only been using Datadog for a few months, and at first, it was frankly overwhelming in terms of both the UI and the available capabilities."
"Billing should be more transparent."
"Datadog could have a better business analysis module."
"It would also be nice if we had more insight into our own usage of Datadog (agents and custom metrics). They provide a usage page which does help, but it is not in real-time."
"If nobody else has said the documentation needs improvement, let's go there. I understand, you can either write about it or you can do it. And most of us would rather they do it, but now that they've done it, those of us that didn't do it, we need to go and find: "Where did they write about this to tell us how to do it?" That's always lacking."
"For my use case, incident coordination was an area of improvement. The internal software engine for coordinating outages could use improvement because sometimes, we used to get false alerts for unrelated devices. They did a really good job of trying to make sure that you got one major alert and any of the subsequent devices downstream were just additions to that, but occasionally, the engine wouldn't properly catch the right things, and we used to get a flood of alerts."
"The GIS map feature needs to be enhanced and synced with topology views of containers and global collections."
"I would like to see better scalability, and maybe, a more intuitive user interface. "
"DX Spectrum could be improved by them getting rid of the Java console. It would also be better with Turkish language support."
"I would like to see CA move Spectrum, Performance Manager, and some of their other tools moved to a SaaS based model. You see a lot of other manufacturers which are moving toward SaaS based models."
"Integration with some other tools, and integration with some Network Packet Broker, need some improvement."
"Its visualization can be improved. It doesn't have a very advanced GUI. It is very basic and simple, but it does work."
