We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I only deal with it from a security analyst's point of view. I don't really get into the features of the actual FortiGate. From the security point of view, it works, and it does its job.""It does a lot for you for intrusion protection and as an antivirus. The threat management bundle is worth the money. You don't need another company to monitor your web traffic for you. You can do everything yourself on the firewall. You restrict your own black list for people on the firewall. You don't need to pay some other company for another product to do that for you. The firewall can do that for you. So, it's an easy-to-use product for people to be independent. They don't need to rely on other vendors to do what the firewall can do. They can do everything.""It's great for capturing the traffic and troubleshooting it.""Mainly the FortiGate reporting system is very good. It guides us through all the expectations of security. Fortinet provides us all that we need for security. Also, Fortinet FortiGate is a next-generation firewall. It is much more advanced than others.""The management console is pretty simple, so anyone who understands networking can initially deploy the solution.""We use a southern institution that's audited for IT security and the reporting that automatically comes off the unit makes it much easier to meet compliance standards and makes it easier as far as the amount of time that has to be spent to compile that information. If you get your reporting set up correctly when you initially set it up, you just select the one you want and hit print. The auditing trail on it is the best feature.""In terms of security, we have not experienced any security flaws or loopholes, and it has proven to be quite stable.""The user interface (UI) is very, very good."

"The databases and its signatures are its most important features.""The UTM platform has been the most valuable.""The filtering was very good.""The solution is very robust.""We can create a domain to separate and segregate some functions, some services.""It safeguards against cyber attacks.""Firewalls help us a lot in controlling traffic on our network and preventing unauthorized access.""It provides visibility and drives organizational security."

"The solution's web filtering is an important feature for us in our company.""There are plenty of features available, such as Full Guard and WAN.""Bandwidth Management and aggregation. It is valuable for combining two ISPs. Switching to a secondary/redundant ISP is thus seamless, in the event that the primary ISP goes down. The Bandwidth Management is also valuable for limiting heavy downloaders that may impact negatively on the experience of other users.""The solution works perfectly without any users.""The product has helped control bandwidth utilization, as well as enhanced connectivity and security to remote locations.""I found that the best feature of Sophos Cyberoam UTM is reporting. Its reporting feature is excellent, fast, and easy to prep and launch.""Content filtering, as this enables me to control that which employees can view at different time quotas.""We consider the user level and control features of Sophos Cyberoam UTM to be the best."

Cons
"I would like some automated custom reporting.""Technical support is good but the response time could be faster.""In the next release, maybe the documentation on how to use this solution could be improved.""It is very expensive, and their support is not very good. I hope that their technical support will be better in the future.""I could not configure sFlow from the FortiGate graphical user interface. I realized that the sFlow configuration is available only from the CLI, and discovered that sFlow is not supported on virtual interfaces, such as VDOM links, IPsec, or GRE.""The pricing could always be better.""The integration with third-party tools may be something that they should work on.""There are some cloud-based features that could be much more flexible than they currently are."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"What has been the issue of firewalls is they ask me for policies and content filtering application control and all these features that are now part of Harmony.""While the technical support is good, the Indian level technical support could use an upgrade.""Some features that could be improved are advanced threat protection, sandboxing, and vulnerability management.""Technical support was very bad because the supplier who sold it to us, wasn't very supportive, and he wouldn't giving us direct links to the OEM.""The solution should be more user-friendly.""The solution could be improved if there was a better way to report. The reporting functionality is not really good. Even though it's not the major function. Maybe adding a way to make a custom report.""The interface needs improvement.""I am not able to see a demo."

More Check Point UTM-1 [EOL] Cons →

"The setup is a bit complex, so we needed help from a consultant.""It isn't missing anything.""Sometimes, users are timed out intermittently.""I would like to see real-time alerts on traffic insights.""Once in a while, an unwanted email will slip in. You have to set your parameters to avoid that happening, but once in a while, an email has slipped past firewall. Once you update the firmware, you notice that it doesn't happen. If an email slips in, I get a little bit worried. I do get the report, but you just don't want that situation happening in the first place.""I would like to see improvements in the development of reports. The process needs to be made simple.""I had an issue when I was trying to stop a user from using too much bandwidth while I was using Azure, I was not able to stop them.""I don't know whether this will be included in an upgrade, but I would like to get the user utility, like seeing where the users are using more of the data."
