Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We are a visual effects company, and there have been a number of high profile security issues in our industry. This has brought us to a higher standard of security, which our clients are very keen on these days.""The solution is stable.""Web filtering and two-factor authentication are great features.""Some of the key features of the solution is that it has good reporting, you can receive many details from the connection, for example, clients and website information.""I'm pretty happy with its reliability. It is also very scalable.""Initial setup is easy to configure.""The dashboard I have found the most valuable in Fortinet FortiGate.""The performance is good."

"One of the valuable features of the solution is its flexibility and it performs great.""The solution is very user-friendly and easy to deal with.""You can scale it when you need to.""The product has valuable features for business intelligence.""Cisco IOS Security increases the overall security of our network, performs authentication, and provides level 15 access and privileges.""The most valuable feature of Cisco IOS Security is posturing.""Cisco products are very secure and integrate easily with other devices.""The solution is easy to use."

"The most recent is VMDR, which provides a comprehensive overview of how to detect, patch, and remediate specific vulnerabilities.""Qualys VM had a recent upgrade and the newer version is supporting the cloud.""It is quite easy to implement.""The most valuable feature is automation.""It gives a very good overview of the inventory assessment process, and it can be accessed across our company because it's a global tool.""I find Qualys VM very robust, and it's very useful for vulnerability management and patch management. The value that it brings to my environment is economies of scale. There is no limitation on adding any endpoints. You go by the rule, and it's added once another endpoint is added to our environment. It's automatically installed, and it's less work from our end. It frees up my license automatically if I don't need an endpoint or if my machine is decommissioned. I like the dashboard displays because I don't see any duplication. The most important part is vulnerability management and prioritization. Unlike Symantec, it shows the kind of vulnerability I would want to patch first. It provides a holistic view of the kind of vulnerabilities and the ones I should remediate first. I don't have to do a scan; it just brings up those critical kinds of vulnerabilities like zero-day vulnerabilities and tells me to prioritize them. You have to prioritize these vulnerabilities first and go on with the rest. The dashboard shows me the ones that have been fixed, so I don't have to complete an aging report. The user experience and the graphical interface are good. As it's user-friendly and understandable on an executive level, it brings real value. We also use this solution because it's robust and flexibile.""The reporting functionality is great.""What I like about Qualys VM is the dashboard presentation. It's very good."

Cons
"I would like Fortinet to add more automation to FortiGate.""The solution lacks sufficient filtering.""Fortinet FortiGate needs to improve to be on par with its competitors, such as Palo Alto and Sophos. They are the market leaders. Fortinet FortiGate needs to improve its capabilities. However, we are happy with Fortinet FortiGate.""They should improve high CPU and memory usage that occurs.""Fortinet FortiGate can improve the integration with Active Directory. Additionally, I would like to have a Cloud Controller, such as they do in the Cisco Meraki solution.""Application management can be improved.""Fortinet FortiGate needs to improve the protection, it did not prevent us from being attacked. Additionally, Fortinet FortiGate could provide more features for WAF devices. I should not have to purchase two solutions, it would be a benefit to combine these features into one solution.""The web-cache feature which was previously on the FortiGate device, but was deleted with the recent upgrade should be returned. It was a very valuable feature for us."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"An area for improvement in Cisco IOS Security is the performance because it's not as stable sometimes. There's also some latency in the solution, which could be improved. Cisco IOS Security integrates with other solutions, but you'll encounter many errors after integration, so this is another area for improvement. I'd like to see enhanced performance and a simplified setup in the next version of Cisco IOS Security.""The solution is complex and can be more user-friendly.""It would be ideal if the solution had more capacity.""Sometimes I find it difficult to manage. Some configurations are difficult for new engineers, for example.""We cannot directly upgrade the system. The tool's deployment is also very difficult in legacy environments. The tool needs to have bigger ports as well.""I think setup could be one area for improvement, because sometimes we don't have people inside so we have to move to the place.""There could be a bit more functions on offer that could make it easier to use.""The routers, don't have like long-term tendency features, or higher availability features available for the IOS. It could also use a better user interface."

More Cisco IOS Security Cons →

"Improve the API speed.""There's a need to upgrade or fix the potential vulnerability rate. Around 20,000 potential vulnerabilities were showing in Qualys VMDR, but none of the other tools showed them. When we checked, it wasn't the case. Support explained that even small issues were being counted as vulnerabilities, causing issues in our audit. So, the security features could be improved to identify vulnerabilities accurately.""Integration could be better. When you think about scanning, it's not used just with this product alone but with other Qualys products. If you think about the bundle, the product itself is good. But integration with other products and packages has space for improvement. They should also offer a better price for bundles.""It is a struggle to be able to pull our report and to be able to do onboarding using automated tools.""It would be nice to have an all-in-one solution that was automated and could handle the scanning and reports as well as the patching and updating.""Sometimes the scanning can get overwhelmed and start to drag when a lot of users are trying to scan at once.""I would like to see more accuracy in detections, better reporting capabilities, and better dashboard download capabilities.""Qualys VM should improve its methodology."
