We performed a comparison between Cisco IOS Security and Qualys VMDR based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Netgate, Fortinet, OPNsense and others in Firewalls."I'm pretty happy with its reliability. It is also very scalable."
"The reporting and monitoring are very good."
"The pricing is excellent. It's much less expensive than Cisco."
"The management console is pretty simple, so anyone who understands networking can initially deploy the solution."
"We use the filtering feature the most. It has filtering and inbuilt securities. We can create customized rules to define which users can access a particular type of site. We can create policies inside the firewall."
"It is easy to use and performs very well."
"The solution is highly scalable because they have devices that can handle a large amount of traffic."
"The wireless control is helpful."
"The stability of this solution is excellent."
"Cisco IOS Security has many good features, but compared to other solutions, it has a more user-friendly interface with steps to apply and manage rules. Another good part of the solution is that it's more straightforward."
"Cisco products are very secure and integrate easily with other devices."
"It covers everything we need it to without looking to secondary solutions."
"The most valuable feature of Cisco IOS Security is posturing."
"I'm able to transfer data over internet network security. With the GRE I'm able to transfer data within one bunch to another bunch in a public way, like the internet. The communication is encrypted and is private. It gives me added privacy."
"What I have used the most and received the most benefit from is the IPsec technology."
"The most valuable feature is the scalability. The nice thing with the bigger vendors is that they're very good at scale."
"The most recent is VMDR, which provides a comprehensive overview of how to detect, patch, and remediate specific vulnerabilities."
"The most valuable feature is automation."
"Qualys VM's best features are vulnerability management and customizable scoring."
"Intuitive and easy to use."
"The Vulnerability Management and Patch Management features are the most valuable features of this solution."
"Qualys has a continuous endpoint monitoring feature for agent-based scanning. Once you deploy the solution, it monitors everything that is happening every 30 minutes. Then, if there are any vulnerabilities, they are reported."
"The most valuable features are vulnerability scanning, policy compliance scanning, and tablet for web application scanning."
"Monitors workstations and servers for vulnerabilities and creates reports."
"Palo Alto has a feature called WildFire Analysis that is unavailable in FortiGate. WildFire is better than a sandbox because it can address zero-day threats and vulnerabilities. It can immediately identify zero-day threats from the cloud."
"Pricing for it is a bit high. It could be cheaper."
"The pricing could be reduced or include the first year warranty."
"Its reporting can be improved. Sometimes, I don't get proper reports."
"There are just some services that aren't available. For example, the Ethernet or point-to-point protocols. They could add these services to their product offering - especially services for ISPs."
"The logs need to be better. They need to be more visible and easier to access."
"The feedback that I have received is that the performance could be better, and the user experience is not as good compared to a previous solution we used. It could be more user-friendly. Of course, it still works fine for our operations."
"Web security solutions can be improved."
"The solution is complex and can be more user-friendly."
"It would be ideal if the solution had more capacity."
"I would like to see much more embedded security that works and that isn't a bolt-on."
"Sometimes I find it difficult to manage. Some configurations are difficult for new engineers, for example."
"The configuration and reporting interfaces need a lot of improvement. It needs to be more accessible forsolide without a strong technical background. If you had a simplified dashboard, the lower-level techs could manage the solution and provide services. Cisco IOS Security requires someone who is highly trained to operate it."
"I would love it if it has a link-by-link feature, integration with Unified Threat Management (UTM), and load balancers. They haven't got any link-by-link feature right now, which can be a very attractive option. This link-by-link feature can also be made available for Cisco's UTM firewalls. The link-by-link feature is available in some of the other firewalls. Currently, integration with UTM is missing. Cisco IOS Security also doesn't have the load balancers and a few things that need to be done to get a good UTM firewall. Normally, other firewalls have UTM. As a next-generation firewall, it's good, but as a UTM, it has to do some work."
"The routers, don't have like long-term tendency features, or higher availability features available for the IOS. It could also use a better user interface."
"The solution’s setup process could be better."
"I would like to have CSPM, a continuous scan-like cloud added to the solution."
"Sometimes the scanning can get overwhelmed and start to drag when a lot of users are trying to scan at once."
"We are moving away from Qualys to Defender ATP because I find that Defender ATP is much better at prioritizing the vulnerabilities that I should be looking at."
"It would be nice to have an all-in-one solution that was automated and could handle the scanning and reports as well as the patching and updating."
"Qualys should improve their customer experience. They need to improve the tech support experience and the turnaround time."
"Endpoint stability and fault resolution could be improved."
"The tool needs to improve the adding assets and report generation features. I would like to see the policy scan of offline appliances in the product's future releases."
"It is more expensive vs. other products on the market."
