We performed a comparison between DataCore SANsymphony and FlexPod XCS based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about NetApp, DataCore, Dell Technologies and others in Storage Software."Mirroring is the most valuable feature because I can provide a high-level of service and optimize the use of obsolete storage."
"An advantage of SANsymphony is its ease of use, especially when installing or upgrading the system."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its versatility, with there being support for all new hardware technologies and platforms, disc mirroring and very effective auto tiering."
"Continuous data protection (CDP), can be used to "protect" again ransomware by recording all write on disk in a log. You can recover your data with incredible time granularity."
"SANsymphony is flexible, with many potential options for implementation. SANsymphony's can be used with VMware, Hyper-V, or even with a hypervisor agnostic approach. It can also be used for strictly physical non-virtualized solutions."
"Our system is designed to be scalable and flexible, so it can grow and adapt to meet the changing needs of our clients."
"Oracle OLTP benchmark to test how it improves the performance while using flash drive NVMe."
"For us, fault tolerance is the most important feature of DataCore."
"It is innovative when it comes to compute, storage, and networking, because there are a lot of the storage efficiencies which allow us to keep a smaller footprint."
"Provides unified support: Being able to get a vendor from one company or another company on the line without having to go back through the call queue."
"I can leverage its multiple storage abilities. We have various kinds of storage in our environment, like IBM or NetApp. We can mix those types of storage with the FlexPod environment."
"It is definitely easier for us to maintain and do build-outs, so it takes a lot less time to set things up for the customer."
"When our clients choose to call NetApp or Cisco directly, the cooperative support model means they can get passed back and forth between the two organizations freely. It works really well."
"I am happy with the stability. I haven't had any major issues with it in four years. This includes upgrades."
"It took a server room where we had 280 servers and another with 180 and condensed them from 15 racks down to three racks. It's helping us in the data center with all our environmentals... In addition, we're getting the ability of VMware, which is virtualization, so now we have redundancy on all of our boxes, instead of them being physical."
"The solution’s unified support for the entire stack provides one stop shopping."
"Its interface could be better."
"We are waiting for container support (on the roadmap), as well as a user-friendly full web-administration capability, and an improved API."
"For customers or technicians who don't speak and understand English, it would be great to have other language support, all the more so given the number of countries in which SanSymphony is used."
"I found it a little unnecessary to have to rename the configurations within the graphics console in order to have unique names."
"SANsymphony is missing some features that vSAN has. For example, vSAN has a special feature called continuous data protection. It provides the ability to go back in time to a given moment. You can see what was on your disk in the past up to two weeks. That's a great feature because ransomware attacks are increasingly common, and that provides you some kind of protection."
"Unified storage (all block, objects, and files) should be in a single storage pool with unified storage concepts, hence providing the user with whatever they want."
"The cloud reporting interface is quite poor compared to other vendors."
"DataCore SANsymphony should integrate file servers at a good price into the solution."
"Sometimes, when the newer versions of any of the partners’ firmware or software come out, there's still sometimes a lag of the partners to support all of those new components."
"Some of the define features could use improvement."
"There is a history of issues with hardware availability. For example, we'll buy an array or a filer with a particular configuration and particular size of drive, sizing it appropriately. Then, as we grow, they're like, "Oh, you can always get more." Then when you go to get more, that model or type of disk is no longer available. It becomes this big process to try to figure out what we need to get, how it'll work, and how that'll integrate into the system. That could be simpler. They could do a bit more to guarantee the availability of parts. Obviously, not being the largest storage vendor, I know they can't sometimes control what the hardware vendors do. However, a bit more transparency and communication about this would be helpful."
"If there were going to be any improvements, they should probably be UI improvements, overall. It can get a little kludgy sometimes when trying to figure out what to do."
"I would like to see drag and drop connectivity to Azure and Amazon."
"The integration between both companies, Cisco and NetApp, is very good but it still needs to be enhanced in terms of visibility and observability."
"We have experienced issues with patching. When there are Cisco releases, there are some vulnerabilities, i.e., security vulnerabilities. We are as a financial company and need to be on top patching. As a company, we cannot have continuous downtime to do patching, which is a challenge that we have faced."
"On the NetApp side, there are definitely things to improve in terms of software updates."
