Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The way they offer container security is a big highlight that I have noticed. The solution is also agentless, so the scanning, runtime, really everything is offered directly by CloudGuard.""It presents a real-time database that is always updated.""The solution offers an excellent price, benefit, and installation relationship.""The most valuable feature is the ability to work with the APIs to integrate into our own backend systems.""It has great scalability.""The product allows us to enhance the security of the implementations we have.""The most valuable feature is the ability to apply common tools across all accounts.""The ability to drill down to individual hosts on an account and see which ones are affected is valuable."

"The solution is easy to use.""This solution gives us insight into our environment and improves our security. It helps us to maintain a good patching system whereby we know that XYZ is vulnerable within the system.""It's really beneficial for scanning and interacting with the agent.""I find Qualys VM very robust, and it's very useful for vulnerability management and patch management. The value that it brings to my environment is economies of scale. There is no limitation on adding any endpoints. You go by the rule, and it's added once another endpoint is added to our environment. It's automatically installed, and it's less work from our end. It frees up my license automatically if I don't need an endpoint or if my machine is decommissioned. I like the dashboard displays because I don't see any duplication. The most important part is vulnerability management and prioritization. Unlike Symantec, it shows the kind of vulnerability I would want to patch first. It provides a holistic view of the kind of vulnerabilities and the ones I should remediate first. I don't have to do a scan; it just brings up those critical kinds of vulnerabilities like zero-day vulnerabilities and tells me to prioritize them. You have to prioritize these vulnerabilities first and go on with the rest. The dashboard shows me the ones that have been fixed, so I don't have to complete an aging report. The user experience and the graphical interface are good. As it's user-friendly and understandable on an executive level, it brings real value. We also use this solution because it's robust and flexibile.""What I like about Qualys VM is the dashboard presentation. It's very good.""The most valuable feature is the ability to run different capabilities with the same agent. With only one agent, we can have EDR, vulnerability management, compliance and some basic SaaS security capabilities.""The process of defining and discovering scans is organized efficiently.""There are many features. Its reliability, ease of installation, ease of use, and the richness of the information provided are the most valuable features."

Cons
"I’d like to see more integration with third-party tools. For example, it would be helpful to have an integration between Dome9 and ServiceNow to manage security incidents and security changes.""The tool has a lot of potential, but today, it lacks a lot of Scripts/Bots for Azure.""Reporting should have more options.""We have concerns regarding the pricing and would appreciate seeing some improvements.""The setup can be better. With every other Check Point product, the setup is scripted. You just approve versions, and then you are off. The setup for this solution is still very much manual. I would like to see that transition to more of a scripted setup.""Adding a feature that allows me to easily identify the changes that have been made to the CIS benchmark and update my own policy accordingly would be a valuable addition to Check Point CloudGuard Posture Management.""The guidelines to implement or to link with the clouds are not complete.""The reporting has a lot of opportunities to continuously improve so that we can continue to show value."

"When you want to cover yourself for scalability, you will be charged for the number you place on the scan itself.""I would like to see this solution more developed and competitive in the Cloud space.""What we have found is that the solution is not closely tied with the patch management. It is okay with newer ones, like Windows 10 machines; it gives the correct patch. But for Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008, it does not give us the correct patch so we have to manually identify the patches. This is a major problem.""It would be nice to have an all-in-one solution that was automated and could handle the scanning and reports as well as the patching and updating.""The only improvement I can think of is on the implementation side. At times it is a bit slow.""Some of the older features could be polished instead of focusing on releasing new features.""One of the biggest issues from the clients' perspective is that all Qualys computing is on the cloud.""Certain integration factors between different options could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "They support either annual licensing or hourly. At the time of our last negotiation, it was either one or the other, you could not mix or match. I would have liked to mix/match. "
  • "I would advise taking into account the existing number of devices and add a forecast of the number of devices to be added in the coming year or two, to obtain better pricing."
  • "It is a very straightforward licensing model that is based on the number of assets you are discovering and managing with the solution."
  • "The licensing and costs are straightforward, as they have a baseline of 100 workloads (number of instances) within one license with no additional nor hidden charges. If you want to have 200 workloads under Dome9, then you need to take out two licenses for that. Also, it does not have any impact on cloud billing, as data is shared using the API call. This is well within the limit of free API calls provided by the cloud provider."
  • "I suggest that you pay attention to the product pricing because while there are no tricks, and the licensing model is transparent, the final numbers may surprise you."
  • "Right now, we have licenses on 500 machines, and they are not cheap."
  • "The pricing is tremendous and super cheap. It is shockingly cheap for what you get out of it. I am happy with that. I hope that doesn't get reported back and they increase the prices. I love the pricing and the licensing makes sense. It is just assets: The more stuff that you have, the more you pay."
  • "Licensing and costs are straightforward, as they have a baseline of 100 workloads within one license and no additional charges."

  • "Usually every implementation is different and the quote is in function of number of assets."
  • "When you want to cover yourself for scalability, you will be charged for the number you place on the scan itself."
  • "It is more expensive than other products on the market."
  • "They have recently changed the pricing model, which is now better than it was before."
  • "It is different for every company, but for us, it's every three years."
  • "Qualys is cheaper and more affordable than other solutions."
  • "The pricing and licensing for Qualys could be improved."
  • "The license is on a yearly basis."
