Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Forescout is easy to integrate with a lot of end systems.""Emergency response, risk assessment information to get a view of the of the vulnerability.""The visibility is the main benefit. We now know how many devices are connected, what the use for each device is and what kind of devices we have in our environment.""The standout strength of this solution lies in its unique capability to effectively manage unmanaged switches.""You can quickly filter your view of devices and zero in on the ones you want using a variety of tools, such as what subnet it is on or what it has been classified as.""Forescout CounterACT has allowed us to better open our access and control wireless access globally from our HQ. This allows us to monitor the network access for every office globally. This has improved overall security, reducing risk and opening up the opportunity to provide greater end user flexibility.""The 802.1X compliance authentication feature of this solution is very good.""This solution can be used to organize guest portals, integrate switches, and create policies. Some of its standard use cases also include completing key process upgrades and anti-virus of Windows OS."

"It is stable and scalable.""The most valuable feature is the vulnerability scan.""The solution is automatically scheduled so it runs by itself.""One of the most valuable features is it's graphical dashboard feature. It is quite easy to manage the widgets, and we can customize those according to our queries.""The solution works well.""The product is scalable.""It is a stable solution.""This solution's most useful feature is that it is entirely a single-page application."

Cons
"Forescout Platform isn't flexible with connections to devices like printers and forces you to re-enter details like the MAC address after any breakdowns.""Logging would be one area for improvement. When we're troubleshooting, there are not a lot of clear things on Google that we can look up for ourselves. When we have an issue with it, we have to call the company to get the vendors involved. The logging of Forescout is horrible compared to other things that we've used.""If older network devices are used there can be some compatibility issues while using the Forescout Platform. Additionally, if the switches that are deployed in your infrastructure are not captured properly to the endpoints there might be some difficulties with Forescout Platform trying to monitor the network traffic. Traffic management is an area the vendor should work on.""The ability to block external devices in Mac is lacking and needs to be added.""The biggest disadvantage is the pricing.""The fact that Forescout Platform doesn't have a presence in the South African region is a weakness because of which you can't ask for help from them if you have any problems.""For the user, the policy that they have implemented sometimes needs adjustments. Sometimes the features that the customer asks for aren't involved in the main installation, and I need to bolt an add-on in. However, I never know if this policy is the right one when I do this.""Multitenancy should be included in the next version so it could be used as a managed service provider."

More Forescout Platform Cons →

"The integration with other solutions like JIRA could be better. Perhaps there could be some additional updates in the next phase that could integrate with it, so then you can proceed with the VT much easier.""There are not enough templates, and the reporting is weak with this solution.""The solution should include a tighter integration with third-party threat modeling and threat intelligence tools.""Reporting could be expanded.""Patch management is the only missing feature I can think of. Rapid7 detects vulnerabilities, but it should also help you manage patches.""There was functionality present previously, however, currently, we can't integrate directly with Jira Service Desk - only the cloud version.""I would like to see more integration.""Some difficulties with the online reporting and lack of integrations."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Devices with multiple IP's count multiple times against your license count."
  • "The fact that we were allowed to spin up as many servers as we had need of to support our geographic requirements while paying for licensing as an enterprise truly set Forescout apart from the crowd and improved the way we could design our access."
  • "We went with the virtual appliance option. The biggest cost to running these types of appliances would be to either have multiple virtual appliances at every data center or running Remote SPAN hardware to provide you the real-time network visibility."
  • "The ROI is priceless."
  • "It might not be the cheapest solution, but you get what you pay for."
  • "Time savings in finding rogue devices as well as identifying potentially unwanted devices on the network has saved the organization time and money."
  • "The setup cost, pricing, and licensing are on the high side."
  • "Forescout Platform is too expensive, so the price should be reduced."
  • More Forescout Platform Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The price of the solution is less than the competitors."
  • "I do not have experience with the pricing of the solution."
  • "This solution is expensive, but it's fine for us as we have an open budget for security solutions. Protection and having the system secured is more important."
  • "The license is IP based. How many IPs you are using to scan is the amount of the license you have to buy. The number of users doesn't matter; many users can use it or only person. It depends on the culture of the organization."
  • "Our licensing costs are somewhere around $40,000 annually. There are no additional fees."
  • "The licensing is asset-based and very straightforward."
  • "Its price is too high. My only concern or issue with Rapid7 is its pricing."
  • "Comparing the price with the value that we receive, I am not happy with it."
