We performed a comparison between Hyper-V and VMware VSphere based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: VMware VSphere is the winner in this comparison. It is easy to deploy, reliable, robust, and has excellent customer support. Hyper-V does come out on top in the pricing category, however.
"The installation was straightforward."
"The solution is easy to configure."
"I value the simplicity of configuration because it has worked as expected for my client."
"The performance is very good."
"The solution is highly stable."
"Hyper-V improved the infrastructure drastically, not only from a performance perspective but from a control/administration view as well."
"The ease of use of Hyper-V is the most valuable feature."
"The solution allows us to take advantage of our physical environment."
"With the current compliance options that I have to go through, it's very nice to have a lot of the encryption built in. It checks a lot of boxes for the federal level so I don't have to either bolt something on or have something on top of it. Having it native and integrated into the system makes things much easier."
"One of the things I like with the web client, versus the thick client, is that we're able to access all the vCenters that we manage. With the thick client, you have to log in to one vCenter at a time."
"I use customization to prevent any network and DNS collisions to the router."
"VMware vSphere allows you to run multiple virtual machines."
"It is a very stable solution. It performs well for our requirements. It has been running for a long time, so we are very knowledgeable about this solution. It is a very well-supported solution, and it is very flexible. The expansion of its functionality is dynamic."
"The most valuable feature is the VDP Backup solution."
"The solution is stable."
"We've found the High Availability and flexibility to be important."
"VMware has antivirus protection that covers the entire VM. If Microsoft could have something similar to this in Hyper-V, that would be great."
"Traditional architecture, such as converged infrastructure, should be done away with"
"An improvement I suggest is having more guest operating systems."
"There is a problem with high-availability if the load is too high."
"Disaster recovery capabilities are the primary choice for improvement."
"I encounter issues such as mouse cursor problems, dependencies, lagging, freezing, and unresponsiveness using Hyper-V."
"Microsoft tech support is horrible."
"The solution should improve its native integration with other public cloud solutions."
"They should make it more efficient and stable."
"The performance of the solution could be better and there could be an extra level of security."
"It could be more scalable."
"I’d like to see a better web console or rather, transform the web console in a real single pane of glass for the whole infrastructure instead of having to go for vRealize Ops Manager."
"Two improvements that I would like to see are higher resolution console modes for guests and easier switching between consoles."
"Stability and manageability need improvement."
"It lacks a snapshot feature."
"VMware vSphere could improve on the automation features and the ease of use of the solution in many areas, such as the interface. However, VMware is doing lots of great things."
