We performed a comparison between Hyper-V and VMware VSphere based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: VMware VSphere is the winner in this comparison. It is easy to deploy, reliable, robust, and has excellent customer support. Hyper-V does come out on top in the pricing category, however.
"The most valuable feature is being able to do checkpoints then roll back to the checkpoint because that's what we need to test the software. We're testing the installation and then we roll it back and retest it."
"The most valuable feature of Hyper-V is that it's very intuitive."
"Hyper-V's technical support is good - they're responsive and sort cases based on criticality and category, so they get dealt with quickly and by the correct team."
"The initial setup of Hyper-V is far easier than VMware."
"The most valuable features are ease of use, and it gets the job done in a straightforward manner."
"We appreciate how easy this solution is to implement on standalone severs."
"The virtualization aspect of the solution functions similar to VMware is one of its most valuable features…It is a stable product."
"I find that most of the competition is more or less the same. However, Hyper-V is, when you compare it to the older platforms like VMware, a little bit more advanced at this stage."
"Technical support is very good. They are very helpful."
"It's not a particular feature, really, however, I can say that the solution is just easy to maintain, and makes it easy to backup all those VMs. We can easily save our data and we can deploy VM machines very fast and create the delivery of the server in a pretty simple, dynamic way."
"VMware vSphere is easy to scale. We haven't had any problems scaling what we're scaling now."
"The scalability has been good."
"It is absolutely simple and efficient to manage. We can bring in people who have never been exposed to vSphere or virtualized environments and they're still able to support it from a server standpoint. The training time as well as the adoption rate, for a junior technician or somebody coming right out of college, is very good."
"The installation process is very straightforward."
"The feature that I find very valuable is the ability to move images of virtual machines from different workspaces to other workspaces between different installations."
"The tool makes virtualization easy. It was free, and we could profit from its GUI. It helps to manage VMs easily."
"If you have a bigger implementation, you need more tools to coexist with many, many features that are not present in the base Hyper-V."
"The management of Hyper-V could improve, there is a lot to improve in that area."
"I would like Microsoft to put more effort into the Admin Center interface and make it much easier. It is customizable, but you have to be a PowerShell expert to customize these things. That is a limitation."
"In my opinion, read the documentation carefully. If you do not, you will have problems."
"I'd like to see better predictive diagnostics, so I know what's going on with the machines."
"It would be nice if they had video acceleration, they got rid of that and VMware has video acceleration."
"It should be deployed with OS so there is no need to install OS separately, only select the OS and get it ready."
"Hyper-V requires improvement with manageability."
"The license fee could be more affordable."
"I feel that the scalability of the solution should be improved."
"The initial setup is a bit complex."
"Without a lot of physical RAM on the hardware, it's not very effective. The stability could be improved in cases like this."
"VMware vSphere needs to increase the datastore volume."
"I would like to see more software as a service solutions."
"An improvement could be allowing a "dark mode" for the interface. I think the HTML5 client is a little bit hard to read. It's all white. It's a little bit bright on the eyes. A lot of us IT guys view in the dark."
"We want to see improvement from VMware with security. We want minimal downtime. We want automation. We want to deploy more efficiently."
