We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Security solution with a straightforward and quick setup. It's a stable and scalable product.""We use a lot of function on the IPS and it works well for us.""The secure web gateway module and the application control module are valuable. HA operations are very easy.""Fortinet FortiGate's most valuable features are ease of use, flexibility, and most of the configuration we can be done using the GUI. When we compare Fortinet FortiGate with other solutions the firewall policy are very easy to understand.""The most important features with FortiGate are the web filter and application controls. We can control our internet usage and use the web filter for application purposes.""Virtual Domains (VDOMs) are a feature that we found valuable.""In terms of security, we have not experienced any security flaws or loopholes, and it has proven to be quite stable.""The web filtering facility and application control are the most valuable features from the point of view of our clients. The VPN feature is also quite popular amongst our clients. Two-factor authentication is one of the good features in Fortinet. These features are important for the current scenario of security. Security has become a necessity nowadays. With cyber-attacks becoming more common, protecting an organization's data is one of the major tasks. It is also very stable and scalable, and it is very straightforward to configure. Their technical support is also good."

"The security is very good.""The stability of this solution is excellent.""The VPN is the most valuable feature.""Completely integrates branch offices with perimeter security.""It is less expensive than alternative firewalls.""Cisco products are very secure and integrate easily with other devices.""Cisco IOS Security is very robust and works very well.""One of the valuable features of the solution is its flexibility and it performs great."

"Detects new hosts along with vulnerabilities.""I am impressed with the VMDR feature.""I like Qualys because it is a very complete product, more so than Tenable.""Great web application security for scanning.""This is one of the best products I have worked with so far. I like the power of Qualys, and it's a better solution because you can scan a compact file, a BIT file, or batch files. The product already knows what's happening inside, and you don't need to expand the package. Tenable will do the same thing, but you need to have a package issuance claim. With Qualys, we can immediately understand the file, even a compact file. If there's some kind of discovery or incident, you will know what happened in the environment.""Qualys VM has allowed us to know the vulnerabilities we need to prioritize based on the threat levels and the possible impact if there's an intrusion.""The process of defining and discovering scans is organized efficiently.""It's stable and quite reliable."

Cons
"We had some issues in the beginning while setting it up, but after doing the firmware update, it is working fine.""With FortiGate, the main complaint that I have heard is about the technical support.""If they had better integration with security products, such as Cisco ISE or Rapid Threat Containment, then it would be an improvement.""There is a lot of improvement needed with SSL-VPN.""The scalability could be better.""There are mainly two areas of improvement in Fortinet FortiGate— the licensing cost and the timing of upgrading licenses for boxes.""Difficult to add or define, and not that easy to configure and manage.""FortiGate is really good. We have been using it for quite some time. Initially, when we started off, we had around 70 plus devices of FortiGate, but then Check Point and Palo Alto took over the place. From the product perspective, there are no issues, but from the account perspective, we have had issues. Fortinet's presence in our company is very less. I don't see any Fortinet account managers talking to us, and that presence has diluted in the last two and a half or three years. We have close to 1,500 firewalls. Out of these, 60% of firewalls are from Palo Alto, and a few firewalls are from Check Point. FortiGate firewalls are very less now. It is not because of the product; it is because of the relationship. I don't think they had a good relationship with us, and there was some kind of disconnect for a very long time. The relationship between their accounts team and my leadership team seems to be the reason for phasing out FortiGate."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"While Cisco IOS Security is stable and scalable, I would like to see it improved to be even better.""I wish it would be more like the next generation firewall technology. There should be more selection between the application and filtering.""Cisco IOS Security's monitoring is rather rudimentary and could be improved.""The graphical user interface or the GUI could be better. Beginners can use some devices with the GUI, but some security devices are configured using CLI. It would also be better if it had its own Intrusion Protection Service and Intrusion Detection Service on the server.""We faced significant challenges related to licensing issues, particularly when licenses expire.""The initial setup is complicated.""Cisco is a scalable product, but it is expensive compared to other vendors.""There's a technology called SD-WAN that we would like to see. We are unable to handle multiple connections or to automatically load balance. I would like to have a feature that enables us to automatically prepare for load balancing."

More Cisco IOS Security Cons →

"When tested on Zero day, there were errors.""Qualys VM could improve by having more skilled support personnel.""I do not like that all of the data is stored on the cloud.""Improve the user interface.""Qualys Container Security can improve the interface. It could be easier to navigate and be enriched.""Qualys could be improved in its overall performance compared to other vulnerability management or scanning tools.""It's quite complex on the way it is set up, so it takes a fair bit of time in order to get your head around it in order to deploy it. Once you've deployed it, then you're never confident on the versions of the browsers and the SSL certificates, etc. You have to always go back into Qualys and check.""Certain integration factors between different options could be improved."
