We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Compliance and the policies that can be set are the most valuable features.""Conditional access has helped us tailor and enforce our security policies in the mobile space.""It is a very helpful solution.""The product has eased the deployment of Microsoft apps to the devices. We can manage it properly. We can control it and push the updates. Another company helped us with the deployment. However, we can do it internally.""We can securely manage both company-owned devices and personal devices enrolled in our BYOD program.""One of the best features is Windows Autopilot because if you change any of your devices, whatever security policies and compliance policies that applied can be easily migrated to the new devices. Windows Autopilot gives you that flexibility.""Agile and easy to deploy MDM solution that covers the maximum number of policies. Stable, scalable, and with knowledgeable technical support.""The solution is easy to use."

"Access to the emails on the go was most valuable. Having access to your emails in a secure way is one of the most important features of this solution. Blackberry ensures data security, and as a user, I can use it while on roaming or wherever I am.""We were able to utilize Android for Work-Premium in BlackBerry Android devices.""We can access emails within the active sync.""There is very high flexibility for different setups of single users, so it can give a single use many different device types with different enrollment types.""Security is the most valuable feature, because we are a financial institution. We have a large number of clients and we have to make sure all communications are secure and PCI compliant.""The containerization of the workspace is what we have found to be the most valuable.""Having access to our internet was extremely beneficial. We don't have that functionality now that we have switched to Microsoft Intune. It was definitely better with Blackberry.""It was a big improvement to activate applications with one authentication. That was a big plus for the user experience."

"The SOTI MobiControl Assist tool is very good for remote controlling devices for troubleshooting. SOTI MobiControl is very helpful.""The most valuable features are visibility and remote access.""The product provides us with information about the incidents. It helped us block specific devices remotely.""We use the Lockdown Kiosk Mode feature on all of our devices. We use that so that the operators can't change any settings in the background, and so that the applications they run are immediately available to them. It's a good feature.""One of the most valuable features is the ease of moving items from one configuration to another; it's a Windows-like setup. Also, the admin console is very easy to manage and to move through.""It is very reliable, and their support is excellent.""The remote control we have helps us a lot.""Because we have a custom, business-to-business applications, the solution's deployment features give us the ability to control the deployment of new versions. We can granularly decide which people or which phone receive updates. It's kind of like having your own "app store" and being able to control what you deploy on the phones... You can see how the deployment is happening; if it's going well or not."

Cons
"Integrating certain group policies can be challenging and may necessitate using on-premises systems to integrate them with Microsoft Intune.""There should be more focus on mobile device security and integration.""Microsoft Intune lags market leaders, such as Apperian, in its MAM capabilities.""The reporting could be improved, as it's pretty poor compared to other products of this type.""Intune's areas for improvement revolve around security and certificate management.""The security features should be improved.""We need the capabilities of the Cloud Management Gateway (CMG) to be enhanced through Intune instead of Azure.""The reporting and cost have room for improvement."

More Microsoft Intune Cons →

"The entry level support needs improvement, but a lot of it has to do with the fact that we do not have premium support. Therefore, we have to go through Level 1 support for any issues.""It would be nice if there was an easier way for team members to get onboarded in regards to what they have to do on the device. There are some programs like Apple DEP and Samsung Knox. Unfortunately, with these programs, to get existing users onto them, you have to factory wipe your device. If it did not have the DEP capabilities, it would be nicer if it did not have so many steps to go through. That is our biggest complaint from team members. It has too many steps.""The installations on the device could be simpler. It is a good solution, and all the features are there. So, there isn't a lot to improve. I'm sure they already have their thought process on how to improve it.""I'd like there to be more in the core product rather than having to buy additional products. For example, being able to trace your devices after an emergency is an additional product you have to buy to do that properly.""They could improve their QA. There are many times where something will be released, a new client will be released, and something gets broken. Or they do a release and they don't take into consideration how some people may be using parts of it. Even though it's supported, they release something and it breaks it because they weren't aware of it. The biggest thing for me right now is, I would like to see improvement in their QA. I'm tired of getting broken software.""The pain points for us would be the activation.""What we don't have at the moment is RDP from the device to some kind of PC. Another feature would be access to a delegate's mailbox and I think that is to come in one of the next releases. There have been a lot of requests for that type of feature where, for example, a secretary can access the mailbox of the boss.""As far as being able to remotely wipe a device, or remove it from the console, this is not simple to do. It is not a one-click motion, as it requires several steps."

More BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite Cons →

"Companies like SOTI and Mobile Iron are working with Google to help them manage these devices and eliminate the use of bar code scanner sales and mobile device sales. That's kind of crazy.""They should improve the lockdown feature.""I wish that I had some more tutorials and educational resources on how to use the product.""For the most part, the application deployment works well. Occasionally, when moving a gun, we'll see that we have to manually intervene, when working with the setup.""We're deploying an application upgrade. We can't do more than three or four devices at once, and we don't know if the device actually received the upgrade. There's no indicator saying it's 100 percent complete until everything is done. Let's say I work East to West. I work on the East Coast and I want to confirm it was done with the upgrades in that region. I wouldn't know until I actually went into it. There's no indicator telling me that it's complete.""They have legacy design architecture, and sometimes the support isn't helpful.""I would like to see some SMS integration so people can send data directly from a mobile phone through SMS when there's no internet.""There could be a feature for user ID management."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Consider the Microsoft Enterprise Mobility Suite rather than choosing specific sub-components, e.g. only Microsoft Intune."
  • "There is a cost benefit of using Microsoft Intune because of the packaging with other Microsoft products."
  • "Microsoft Intune is a cost effective choice. It is less expensive than other products on the market."
  • "The purchase of the product was handled by someone else."
  • "I have no comment on pricing of the solution."
  • "The product is offered as part of a Microsoft standard bundle. The pricing can be competitive to Airwatch, and Maas360."
  • "For Microsoft 365 E5 clients, cost is not an issue as this product is one of the benefits."
  • "The price of Intune is included with the license for Office 365, so we don't have to pay anything extra for it."
  • More Microsoft Intune Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "With the new licensing model, there seems to be a significant increase in cost, which makes it difficult to push forward and talk with the business."
  • "In my opinion, we're paying an awful lot for what we get, compared to other vendors. I don't deal with the pricing, but it does seem to be a bit pricey for the things that we get, especially, when you compare them to other vendors, such as VMware, Citrix, who have all bought up other players in this space. VMware offers AirWatch free as part of their packages."
  • "Sometimes, it is very hard to get an overview because there are so many different suites to find out what is the right thing for new customers."
  • "We pay about $6 a year for the solution. There are no extra costs on top of that. You save a lot of money when you use this product."
  • "We currently pay by the year, but the licenses are calculated on a monthly basis."
  • "The licensing costs are paid on a yearly basis because we just renewed the license. If you have some big issue, they will also charge you."
  • "It was on a yearly support contract, and the licenses were perpetual. There was also the implementation cost and the support cost for the integrator."
  • "We are paying $200 annually. You also need to have a hardware server or a license for the server so there could be some additional fees added on to that."
  • More BlackBerry Enterprise Mobility Suite Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Pricing is okay, but when you buy your renewal of licenses - at the end of the period or the year - if you have a lot of devices, obviously, it's going to increase. In the end, it's kind of expensive."
  • "I thought pricing was kind of high, but I believe that Soti is probably the best out there for this type of software, so there's not much I can do about that. The licensing is annual, per device."
  • "They've been pretty flexible with us, because we've changed the way we do our licensing a few times. We did a yearly, and then we went back and we did a quarterly, and I think we're back to yearly right now. We've been able to work stuff out and pricing has gone down since the onset. We've got a better rate per device and it's reasonable. The licensing cost from SOTI usually doesn't scare anybody, away once it's explained."
  • "The solution that we were using costs less, but it didn't offer as much as Soti. It's comparable if you look at it over the five-year term."
  • "There are solutions that can be more aggressively priced, but they may not provide all that SOTI does. It's a matrix regarding what feature you use. You need to compare the features you use and what you are willing to pay for them... SOTI's pricing is okay. It's in the middle... They can provide more aggressive pricing once you start to have a lot of licenses."
  • "The pricing is reasonable and the licensing model is very reasonable when compared to some of the competitors in the market. I can speak directly regarding Intune, which is very expensive compared to SOTI."
  • "It makes sense to have scanners on SOTI MobiControl, but it makes less sense to have printers because there are fewer features for them, while the price is the same for both."
  • "SOTI's pricing seems to be competitive."

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft Intune stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure all devices under its management and the flexibility that the solution offers its users.

A computing services manager notes, "Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly."

The head of IT engineering at a financial services company writes, "The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types: we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager (MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company details on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."
