Find out what your peers are saying about Netgate, Fortinet, OPNsense and others in Firewalls."The most important features with FortiGate are the web filter and application controls. We can control our internet usage and use the web filter for application purposes."
"FortiGate is flexible and easy to use."
"The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiGate is load balancing. It can provide central management and VPNA. Additionally, it has enhanced our security environment."
"We purchased Fortinet because of the pricing, its functionality, because it met our requirements, and the total cost of ownership over five years was quite reasonable. In the market, Fortinet is rated quite well."
"The solution is highly scalable because they have devices that can handle a large amount of traffic."
"The CLI and GUI do a good job of putting a lot at your fingertips."
"Unified Threat Management (UTM) features."
"Virtual Domains (VDOMs) are a feature that we found valuable."
"I think Barracuda CloudGen Firewall is one of the most advanced firewall platforms. I also like that it's easy to get top-level support right away. You get that security, and if you make a mistake, it doesn't break."
"Enables us to define user application-level access, so our customers can work anytime from anywhere."
"Its ability to block incoming attacks is valuable. Its logging, traffic monitoring, and VPN capabilities are also valuable."
"What I like best about this product are the support and the features."
"I wanted to go to a software-defined WAN and in Barracuda they have a specific protocol called TINA (Transport Independent Network Architecture). You can create a master policy over the internet and it allows you to do Quality of Services on top of it. That is really helpful for me."
"Barracuda is very prompt at blocking any new spam which comes out."
"The most valuable features are SD-WAN, URL filtering, IPS, and virus scanning."
"The most valuable feature for us is the ability to offer firewall support to our clients."
"My primary use case for this solution is for a secure gateway."
"It gives a more accurate assessment of a virus in terms of whether it's truly a virus, malware, or a false positive. We have some legacy software that could pop up as being something that is malware. WildFire goes through and inspects it, and then it comes back and lets us know if it's a false positive. Usually, when it finds out that it's not a virus, it lets us know that it's benign, and it can exclude it from that scan, which means I don't even have to worry about that one popping up anymore."
"It is stable and pretty much scalable."
"A good tool for file scanning and email threat detection, especially when it comes to attachments and communications."
"The most valuable feature is the improved security that it offers."
"Remote access is excellent."
"The most valuable feature is the Automatic Verdict, to recognize whether something is a threat, or not."
"The solution is scalable."
"They sometimes hide some features and if you want to enable them, you have to go in the CLI, enable the feature and configure it through the CLI. Customers, typically, like everything to be done by the GUI."
"There are some problems that support cannot give you a logical reason as to why it happened. For example, I had a case where I was dealing with a WhatsApp application that was giving issues. Technical support gave more than one reason it could be giving issues, but none of them solved the problem. Eventually I solved the problem, but it was far from the solutions that support had given."
"The support is the main thing that needs to be improved."
"I would like to see a more intuitive dashboard."
"One of the problems I was having was with user mapping, and it is an issue for which I have escalated tickets with Fortinet support."
"Its customer service could be better."
"Fortinet FortiGate is a stable solution. However, my issue is the performance only. When I use all the profiles, this affects the performance. From the beginning, I should have had a better sizing of the box."
"The initial setup is complex."
"The price is a bit higher than other vendors."
"They have a very complicated interface. It's very hard to learn."
"The analytics are weak."
"The initial setup is a bit complex."
"The interface should be more user-friendly and it should be easier to configure."
"I would like to see the connection improved."
"It's a little bit complex in terms of handling. If you implement a change, there is a specific point where you have to commit it. It's not like you just push a button and it's always committed. If you don't know to check whether your commit command has been executed or not... that is something Barracuda needs to work on."
"If you experience an attack it can take a very long time to find a solution."
"There are certain changes that I was expecting in the previous version, and I hope that they are soon fixed. All of the problems that I have faced so far have been resolved."
"They can keep on doing more updates. As new malware and viruses are coming out, they can make sure that WildFire is up to date."
"The automation and responsiveness need improvement."
"There are some formats that the solution cannot support ."
"In the future, I would like to see more automation in the reporting."
"In terms of what I'd like to see in the next release of Palo Alto Networks WildFire, each release is based on malware that has been identified. The key problem is an average of six months from the time malware is written to the time it's discovered and a signature is created for it. The only advice that I can give is for them to shorten that timeframe. I don't know how they would do it, but if they shorten that, for example, cut it in half, they'll make themselves more famous."
"There are more specialized solutions that compete with Wildfire. Therefore, they need to work on their machine learning and AI to be more competitive."
"Palo Alto Networks WildFire could improve by adding support for manual submission of suspicious files and URLs. Additionally, it would be an advantage to add rule-based analysis. Currently, it uses only static and AI. We need to be able to analyze archive files."
