We performed a comparison between IBM Security QRadar and Sentinel based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."We have no complaints about the features or functionality."
"The part that was very unexpected was Sentinel's ability to integrate with Azure Lighthouse, which, as a managed services solution provider, gives us the ability to also manage our customers' Sentinel environments or Sentinel workspaces. It is a big plus for us. With its integration with Lighthouse, we get the ability to monitor multiple workspaces from one portal. A lot of the Microsoft Sentinel workbooks already integrate with that capability, and we save countless amounts of money by simply being able to almost immediately realize multitenant capabilities. That alone is a big plus for us."
"One of the most valuable features is that it creates a kind of a single pane of glass for organizations that already use Microsoft software. So, when they have things like Microsoft 365, it is very easy for them to kind of plug in or enroll those endpoints into the Azure Sentinel service."
"The analytics has a lot of advantages because there are 300 default use cases for rules and we can modify them per our environment. We can create other rules as well. Analytics is a useful feature."
"I like the KQL query. It simplifies getting data from the table and seeing the logs. All you need to know are the table names. It's quite easy to build use cases by using KQL."
"We are able to deploy within half an hour and we only require one person to complete the implementation."
"The automation feature is valuable."
"One of the most valuable features of Microsoft Sentinel is that it's cloud-based."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is how it monitors the real network. That is its leading security feature."
"We have the abilities to monitor each instance which originates on the process along with the performance of each department."
"It's a state-of-the-art product for security information and event management (SIEM)."
"The event collector, flow collector, PCAP and SOAR are valuable."
"No doubt about it, the solution is extremely stable."
"We have worked with other solutions, such as LogRhythm and Splunk. Compared to others, IBM QRadar has the best price-performance ratio so that you are able to reserve minimum costs. It starts settling in fast and gets the first results very quickly. It is also very scalable."
"The ability to add extensions is the most valuable feature. For example, extensions that provide valuable test ports."
"IBM QRadar has improved my organization by introducing many functions. It collects logs from all of our systems in the organization and has functioned very well. It alerts and correlates the aggregate events or offenses we receive through all the applications we use."
"The most valuable feature is the flexible log for identifying security threats inside an application. Sentinel is very good at this."
"The solution's Kusto Query Language (KQL) execution time is pretty good."
"The most valuable feature of Sentinel is the dashboard."
"The native integration with out-of-the box format is hassle free and allows data to be used advantageously."
"Sentinel gave us logs to tell us what's going right and wrong in your environment so we could secure the network."
"The solution lets us get all the logs properly and regularly monitor customer infrastructure."
"It makes everything easier by automating some tasks and growing with our needs."
"The stability is phenomenal and we never had any issues with downtime or even had to restart."
"I would like Sentinel to have more out-of-the-box analytics rules. There are already more than 400 rules, but they could add more industry-specific ones. For example, you could have sets of out-of-the-box rules for banking, financial sector, insurance, automotive, etc., so it's easier for people to use it out of the box. Structuring the rules according to industry might help us."
"One key area that can be improved is by building a strong integration with our XDR platform."
"Everyone has their favorites. There is always room for improvement, and everybody will say, "I wish you could do this for me or that for me." It is a personal thing based on how you use the tool. I do not necessarily have those thoughts, and they are probably not really valuable because they are unique to the context of the user, but broadly, where it can continue to improve is by adding more connectors to more systems."
"The performance could be improved. If I create 15 to 20 lines for a single-use case in KQL, sometimes it takes more time to execute. If I create use cases within a certain timeline, the result will show in .01 seconds. A complex query takes more time to get results."
"I can't think of anything other than just getting the name out there. I think a lot of customers don't fully understand the full capabilities of Azure Sentinel yet. It is kind of like when they're first starting to use Azure, it might not be something they first think about. So, they should just kind of get to the point where it is more widely used."
"Documentation is the main thing that could be improved. In terms of product usage, the documentation is pretty good, but I'd like a lot more documentation on Kusto Query Language."
"The reporting could be more structured."
"The AI capabilities must be improved."
"A lot of information that we receive for the devices is IP-based, but it would help if we could have a default dashboard in which we can add more details about the assets for which we are receiving the information. For example, if it is a Windows or Linux device, we only get the IP for that particular device. We don't really get the name and other details of that particular device. For that, you have to drill down into your own asset management system. It would be good to have a place where we can probably add this information so that we don't have to look into other tools."
"I would like to see a better GUI."
"There could be improvements made to the UI, the user interface. Though the newer version, 7.3.2, might already have this improvement in place."
"IBM needs to invest more into the collaboration with other vendors."
"They have to build more quantitative monitoring, profiling, and make it more predictive."
"They should provide more manual examples online so that I can learn it myself."
"Integration could be better. They should make it easy to integrate with other solutions."
"For the common needs of clients to fulfill requirements, a real integration with Blueworks Live (BPA modeling tool also from IBM) and a more suitable BPM on cloud solution for midsize customers."
"This product's connection to certain types of cloud systems could be improved. We can do Microsoft, Google, and Amazon, but there are a lot of other things happening in the cloud that we do not connect well enough to. This product could be improved with better connection to cloud-based solutions."
"The dashboard and customer view should be improved"
"I rate Sentinel a six out of ten for scalability."
"There is a need for more flexibility in customization, especially when working with different vendors and platforms."
"You need a lot of Unix scripting knowledge in order to manage the tool, which is one of the main issues that we faced."
"I would like to see a better reporting work structure on the dashboard."
"Creating a drag-and-drop dashboard or workbook in Sentinel is a little more complex compared to other tools like LogRhythm and IBM QRadar."
"The solution does not allow outsourced authorizations."
