We performed a comparison between PeopleSoft and SAP ERP based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two ERP solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The new version of this solution is very scalable."
"I would rate scalability a nine out of ten."
"Its user interface is impressive."
"PeopleSoft is a good core system. They frequently update the solution and recently they have added some good enhancement features for higher education. We just switched to the new fluid interface and that is working very well for us. It is very good."
"PeopleSoft has been fairly reliable for us. We haven't had any issues with stability."
"This solution integrates very well with other products which is helpful."
"PeopleSoft is easy to understand, where any end user that is logged in can easily navigate through the menus."
"The breadcrumb approach to navigation in PeopleSoft is good. nVision is also a good supplement."
"ERP is stable. The outcome is clear to us as far as the design goes."
"MDG provides a central location for governance of the creation/updating processes of master data. It allows you to change several fields in the same object. For example, we can change a field on the purchasing view and change another field on an accounting view to the same material at the same time."
"ERP is very stable."
"The most valuable features of SAP ERP are its stability, industry-specific package, and adaptable configuration."
"SAP has provided a much more integrated platform for managing our manufacturing business."
"The solution has far more features, processes, and functionalities than we previously had."
"It is a utility-focused solution, and the deployment is very much aligned with utility service providers. If you look at the supply chain and the overall business model of a utility service provider, SAP is something that fits very well. That's because the company has invested tremendously in creating appropriate workflows pertaining to this segment or domain."
"The payroll solution and the localization for advances are valuable."
"Stability is an area where the solution lacks and needs to be improved."
"The implementation of PeopleSoft is quite complex and is not as easy as other cloud products such as SuccessFactor or Workday."
"Services that need improvement include PeopleSoft Query, Pivot Grids, and PeopleSoft Test Framework."
"Often support just asks people to install a lot of upgrades. Sometimes they don't really give you clear details as to why you need to upgrade. They just say, "You need to upgrade this because there's a newer image, etc". They never really give you the reason underlying why you are having errors."
"The solution could improve by offering PeopleSoft site licenses. Currently, Oracle is pushing for everyone to transition to the cloud, but clients are discontent with this approach. Offering new PeopleSoft site licenses would be the most beneficial for our clients."
"Areas that need improvement are the add-ons to the fluid pages and additional features in SCM and finance, both functionally and technically."
"The product is not intuitive, and finding the right candidate can be arduous."
"The area that could be improved is the upgrade process, it's not the easiest. Oracle stopped supporting our version. So we have to move either to the cloud or work in a non-supported situation. That was certainly a disadvantage. That's also the reason why we decided not to stay with Oracle. Now we are moving to SAP."
"Customizations are a bit expensive."
"Although you can use SAP as a Warehouse Management System, and you don’t need any other program for that purpose, it is not enough as a Transportation Management System. You need another program which is integrated with SAP."
"The problem with SAP is that whenever there is a modification, or if a new field needs to be added, they charge tens of thousands, hundreds, or even two hundred thousand dollars. That is not anything in which I am really interested. For instance, consider a single-use case. I have to enter the root causes for a certain operation or failure. That option does not exist anywhere in SAP, not in manufacturing, not in logistics, not in anything. It is completely missing. The root cause analysis is very common across industries, yet SAP does not offer this option. A line field or a metaparticle, for example, was delayed. If you have the choice to input the warehouse operator or if the person who submitted the document has the opportunity to enter, this has been postponed for N, X, Y, or Z reasons."
"The initial setup of SAP ERP is complex and it took a lot of time."
"There should be better support provided to be able to migrate to S/4HANA easier."
"It could be more flexible, and the company should be able to adapt the system. Not the other way around. It's very rigid and difficult to change. Reporting could also be better."
"The only feature that is not available in our current version is web access."
"I would like to see more integration with other partners. Some of our customers already use specific or in-house applications for their business processes. They do not want to replace those applications."
