Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Microsoft BI's most valuable feature is flexibility.""The one feature most of our customers like is data visualization. When we were doing BI directly from SQL, most users found it challenging to create their own reports. Power BI has self-serve analytics that the end-users can do themselves. On most projects, people are primarily using data visualization and self-serve analytics.""Technical support is quite responsive.""The most valuable features are the easy creation of reports, dashboards, and the ability to perform analysis. It is important for us to create reports because we have some operations during certain hours and we can use this tool to track the information.""The good part of it is that you can do whatever you want with it when it comes to building BI. In terms of languages, it supports Python, and it also natively supports R.""Being able to transfer data with the Power Query feature is great for teaching with about one to two hundred rows of data. I am also able to see the relationship between multiple tables and create various sheets and dashboards.""The solution is easy to set up and implement.""The data can be accessed from anywhere."

"Once you open it up, you see everything that you can do.""The language support is very good.""The search feature: ability to see the related data.""The most useful feature of QlikView for me is the QVD concept.""The scalability is there.""The integration with Salesforce has helped us gain access to crucial sales data in real-time.""Easy to analyze data by click-through.""Associative model - no more cubes."

Cons
"There needs to be improved guidance and documentation for the initial setup of Power BI as it currently remains complex.""The accounting data needs improvement.""Trend data and dashboards need improvement.""The formatting template could be improved.""It should be easier to use when there are multiple system sources.""People without private emails cannot publish and, frankly, this doesn't allow for easy training.""I would like to see some AI incorporated into this solution in the future.""Areas for improvement would be the construction of reports and the dashboard budget."

More Microsoft Power BI Cons →

"If a user wanted to see something not included in the application the new object had to be created by a power user or developer because Qlik view's scripting has somewhat of a learning curve.""Sometimes, dealing with complex reports requires more effort, which could be really improved.""More/newer visualisation components need to be added.""They could improve the speed.""Better source data connectors.""There is a challenge on the frontend when it comes to browsing data through QlikView, as it isn't entirely compatible with other platforms we use.""The pricing is high.""The only thing I would improve about it is the fact that it refreshes all the time, and when it does that, it just deletes all the options you had, all the filters that you had selected, so you need to select them from the beginning."

  • "The pricing is too high compared to the other solutions on the market."
  • "It is not very expensive. I think it it is on par with other similar products on the market."
  • "The setup costs for QlikView are fair as are the yearly maintenance fees. The licensing becomes a bit more expensive and requires some planning for onboarding."

  • "On a scale of one to ten, where one being low price and ten being high price, I rate pricing a four."
