We performed a comparison between RHEV and VMware VSphere based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, VMware VSphere got better user reviews. One major difference between the two solutions is that users say that RHEV’s scalability is not great.
"The solution makes migration easy."
"The most valuable feature of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is its pricing."
"The solution is stable."
"It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"Technically, the main reason why I'm using Red Hat is because of its stability."
"This solution is very stable. Much more so than similar products."
"We find the ease of use of this solution to be invaluable. It is user-friendly and integrates well with other software."
"It's a scalable solution."
"The initial setup is very simple."
"It has high clustering and availability features. These features are not found with other hypervisors."
"The most valuable feature of the solution would be the basic feature of server virtualization, we use it everywhere."
"The scalability of the solution is good. You can scale up to maximum levels."
"It is easy to maintain our data machines and take snapshots with the solution."
"It is highly scalable. We need to scale out and up, and we can do that with vSphere. We can easily add more storage, drives, or memory."
"There are no issues with the level of scalability you can achieve."
"The most valuable features are the resilience of the solution and vMotion."
"It would be better to have more patches, especially kernel-level updates, live and online so that we can keep the business up and running during this period."
"The solution should be made more user-friendly."
"In comparison to VMware, this solution isn't as stable. We're testing it right now, and we're not trusting the stability of the product."
"We hope that Red Hat can produce a paradigm edition. We are looking for paradigm computing and paradigm storage. Its scalability can be improved. It is not easy to scale, and we hope that Red Hat can provide a more scalable system. They should also provide local service and support. Our customers are looking for a good software vendor to provide professional services."
"With RHEV, the cyberattacks should be fewer. I want RHEV to be better protected."
"The Administration of the Oracle database and the SAP ERP needs improvement."
"This solution could be more secure."
"The solution has a very small lifecycle."
"I think the pricing could be lower, and the technical support could be improved."
"There are certain tools the can't run in parallel and occasionally, in those instances, we have trouble migrating customers from one source to our data center."
"It would be ideal if they could integrate billing software so that clients can customize it directly on the virtual machine."
"I would like to see the configuration simplified."
"On the older version of VMware vSphere, possibly version four, we had a feature that allowed us to backup Ziploc machines. It has not been available in the newer version such as six or seven. I have been looking for another solution to accomplish the backups but they should bring back this plugin-type tool to allow older backup capabilities."
"The licensing costs are expensive and most of the important features require a license."
"It could be more composable. At present, a fluid pool is not available to us. It would be great to have the flexibility."
"The documentation could be improved. It does not help me to show the client the value of going with VMware vSphere rather than an open source or cheaper solution."
